Sunset Shimmer glanced at the book in her hands. It had a bright red and yellow sun on the cover, the same as her cutie mark, but was neither glowing nor vibrating. She sighed, then began flipping through the pages to the last thing she had written. There was, of course, no reply.
Partly irritated, she went to exit the school. As she opened the front doors, the Wondercolts statue came into view.
There had to be a reason why Twilight wasn't responding. According to Sunset, she usually had an immediate answer, so something was up.
Or she's just really busy with her duties as a princess, she thought silently. But even as this thought lingered, Sunset kept walking towards the statue portal. While she had important reasons to go through it, she also kind of wanted to see if Equestria was the same as when she left.
She shook the memory away and found herself right in front of the portal. Curious, she she reached up to touch it, her hand satisfyingly slipping through. It was still open, just as she'd expected.
But she couldn't just go to Equestria, could she? Her friends were counting on her to help them win the Friendship Games, and she also needed to make sure magic was kept out of the games...
She decided she wouldn't be gone long. This would actually help Canterlot High win the Friendship Games. Taking a quick look around her, she slipped her book into her backpack and slung it over her shoulder. She took a deep breath and stepped through.
"Ahhh!" Sunset was falling, which was something she did not expect. Last time she remembered, the portal was a mirror and was firmly on the ground. Either way, she was falling from the sky with no way of stop-Oh, yeah! She had magic!
She quickly used a levitation spell and stopped inches from the ground. Letting out a sigh of relief, she began to take in her surroundings. Instead of being in a castle, she was in the middle of nowhere. Had the portal taken her somewhere else?
"Sunset Shimmer?!" A voice behind her exclaimed. Sunset turned around just in time to see another type of portal open up and suck both her and Twilight Sparkle into it, dropping them off in Cloudsdale.
