Spike drew in a quiet breath, staring at the parchment tucked under his claws. Slowly, he rolled up the scroll and held it in front of him and held his breath. A magical burst of fire could send where he wanted it to go: The Carousel Boutique mailbox, or a regular burst of fire that would keep his silence, and save him from inevitable heartbreak.

No. He sighed and the letter disappeared in a flash of dragon's fire. Burned to a crisp with all of the pretty words turning to ashes in front of him, and scattering away from the breeze of an open window in the library.

"Spike?" A voice chimed out, belonging to Twilight Sparkle, who poked her head into her bedroom. Spike glanced quietly over his shoulder at her curiously.

"What was that? " She asked. She'd heard the burst of fire, but hadn't given Spike any letters to send to the princess. The little purple dragon simply shook his head with a sigh, resting a claw over his heart.

"...Nothing important."
