Chapter 5 Hearts all aflutter

Later, Will and Marco walked over a bridge, heading through the park.

“OK just one last thing”, Will observed on the list, “Music”.

“OK, well this time, would you mind if I introduced us”? Marco asked.

“Sure, go for it LT”, Will said.

Marco grinned. Suddenly, the air was filled with a chorus of melodious birds singing. Will smiled, as he had always loved the various sounds of animals. They peaked through some bushed, and found Fluttershy conducting the choir of talented birds, from above the ground.

“Very good”, she said in a calm soothing voice, “Now um, one more time, from the top, please. I mean, if that’s OK. Ahem, a one, a two, a one two three…"

“Excuse me”! Marco interrupted.

Fluttershy was startled by the call, and looked over to see Marco.

“Oh I’m terribly sorry”! Marco said, realizing his folly, “I didn’t mean to startle you, I’m here to check up on the music, and I must say, that was marvelous. And just to get this out of the way, yes I know, I’m a MALE Alicorn”.

As Fluttershy descended in front of Marco, she looked rather nervous, looking off to the side now and then. Marco nervously smiled as he began to socialize.

“I’m Lieutenant Marco Lioghais”, Marco said warmly, “And you are”?

“Um…I’m.Fluttershy”, she answered quietly.

“I’m sorry, what’d you say?” Marco asked.

"Oh um, m-my my name is Fluttershy", she said, in an even quieter voice.

“Beg pardon”? Marco asked again.

"I'm Fluttershy", she squeaked nervously.

The two exchanged looked of both awkward and demure. Will, who was hiding behind Marco, couldn’t take any more of this. He promptly stepped out from behind him.

“Allow me to handle this”, He whispered.

Slowly, Will walked up to Fluttershy. He noticed that part of her face was covered by her light pink mane. Another thing that he noticed was that, like every other stallion and mare he knew, she was about a foot and a half taller than him. Nevertheless, Will still smiled.

“Hey there”, he said softly, gently moving her hair out of her  face with the tip of his hoof, “It’s ok, we’re friends, we won’t bite”.

Fluttershy’s eyes widened and her cheeks slowly began to glow red. She could feel her heart slowly begin to pick up pace as she peered down at the slightly diminutive stallion. For some reason, there was something about him that was so....alluring.

“My name’s Will”, Will said, “What’s yours”?

Fluttershy made a nervous smile, and then, without warning, fainted with a rather weird look plastered on her face. The two soldiers gathered around her.

“I killed her”! Will exclaimed out of concern, “Either that or I’ve scared her senseless”.

“No no, you're right”, Marco said in a falsetto followed by a smirk, “you totally  killed her”. “Why’d you say it like that”?! Will asked, oblivious to Marco’s joke.
