Bloomin' Red
The Honest Truth
Load Full StoryAppleBloom trotted down the roads to Sweet Apple Acers, it had been four years since her friends, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo had reformed Diamond Tiara, and gotten the same cutie marks, her family acted proud, and AppleBloom was as well, knowing she could help ponies with her kind heart find their special talents. Her new saddle bag had her cutie mark on it, and she wore it proud every time she went to school. She walked to her house, lying her saddle bag by the door.
"I'M HOME!" She shouted, then galloped away to the farmhouse, she fed the animals, and planted a few apple seeds. She said good morning to Noi, who was Carrot Top's little sister, and she was next in line to keep track of the carrot farm, even her cutie mark said so, which was a bright orange carrot with a small star. She waved back, and AppleBloom went to gather apples from the trees, until Applejack called her, and she ran inside, Applejack had sound nervous so she had rushed herself all the way from half of the field.
"What's wrong AJ? Are ya leavin' for another couple of days? How's Starlight? Did she turn on you?" Applejack rose a hoof, silencing her sister, shaking her head, then sighing sadly.
"No lil' sis..." She chuckled.
"It's about you-"
"And your mark..." AppleBloom looked confused because she was. Granny Smith and Big Macintosh sat in their rightful chairs staring at the table, AppleBloom sat in hers expecting this to be a long conversation.
"Wha da mean?" She asked looking back up to her sister, frowning.
"Hon.. after a while, I aint gona be here, as well as yer brother and sis, we were hoping' when you got yer cutie mark it'd be related to apples." Granny smith said, slightly doubtful her granddaughter would understand.
"What ya talking 'bout? See this, it's a shield, yeah, but it's also an apple, with a heart!" Apple Bloom gasped, pointing at her flank.
"But it aint yer destiny, Noi has already taken after her sis, that's her job." Granny continued.
"Eyeup." Big mac said shortly.
"But I can do it, it's my special talent, see apple!" AppleBloom argued.
"But that apple is there cuz yer heritage hun, being here, it aint-" Granny Smith stopped, her eyes welling up.
"Yer destiny." Applejack continued.
"And sadly, I don't wanna say this as much as you'll wanna hear it, but-" Apple took off her hat and laid it on top of the table.
"Soon, yall be going to collage maybe signing up to be a teacher or somethin' but you won't be here, the apple farm's been doing worse than usual and without ya here, even with ya here, we need somepony, a grown mare, or stallion to help, we need the horse power, and in the meantime we need to-to..." Applejack started to cry, but continued.
"Sell you're room." Big Mac said, looking back down. AppleBloom was shocked.
"But-but- I... I'll work harder! Do better! I'll do anything!" AppleBloom cried, begging. The whole family hated to see the little filly like this, it killed them, but they knew she wouldn't be happy, and Applejack frowned deeper.
"No hun, again, it aint yer destiny, you'd be unhappy.." She grasped AppleBloom's shoulders, giving a weak smile.
"If you go, you'll be happy with your friends, living your life, maybe even with Spike, and one day, you'll come back, and we'll all be so proid you were brave enough and strong enough to say goodbye to yer family, cuz it just might kill us when yer gone."
"Then don't send me away!" AppleBloom screamed breaking into sobs, slamming the door open, running away from the farm, to a small tree in a far field. Spike, who was walking to Sweet Apple Acers to ask Applejack's permission to marry her little sister, then he heard small sobs and looked up to the tree AppleBloom was crying by. He gasped, running up the hill to his marefriend. He reached the tree, seeing the earth pony lying on the tree, crying softly. He kneeled down, pulling AppleBloom into his arms.
"What happened?" He asked, the concern in his voice causing AppleBloom to turn and face him, her eyes were almost red from the tears, and she whipped her runny nose.
"Ma family wants me gone, cuz ma cutie mark, they say it's not apple- related. " The last words of the sentence turned from sadness to hatred. Spike scoffed.
"But you have an apple in your cutie mark!" He insisted.
"Yeah well it's not my 'destiny' apparently." She replied back, mimicking her elder sister.
"They're going to sell ma room Spike, ma room! Just so somepony older and stronger can.. take my place..." Spike frowned more.
"Nopony or anyone could ever take your place, they want you to have a good life, have fun, can you blame them?" Spike mugged a kiss on her cheek and smiled, she smiled back but then frowned shifting her head down again.
"Yeah. I can." She stood up and stared at the sunset, Spike stood up as well but then hugged her and started to walk away.
"If you ever are lonely and need someone to talk to, I'm here." She nodded as he walked away, she remembered the cellar to the farmhouse. She smirked devilishly, stomping her hoof on the dirt, scrapping mud and grass in different directions, writing and spelling out 'REVENGE' she chuckled, which turned into a laugh which turned into her pupils going small and laughing in an insane way. She stomped her hoof on the ground once more smashing the letters, and galloped back to town square to meet her friends, as much as her family was to blame, but her friends have similar cutie marks, and they stuck up for her, she would have had a different destiny had they not stuck up, and she was going to make them pay just as much as her family.
