I: Within The Pouring Rain

I: And So it Begins...

A raven lands with nary a sound on the cracked stone ground. It searches the area for any thing worth scavenging, before looking upwards at the sound of another alighting near it. It was a tall, white and brown, proud eagle with a sharp beak and even sharper talons. The raven spreads it's charcoal wings wide and stands up, revealing it's impressive wingspan. The eagle returns the gesture in kind. The two circle each other before both dart in,  feathers flying and the sounds of beaks and talons connecting echoing throughout the air.

Blood flies and lands on the ground, the pools growing with each blow. Before long, the entire area is splattered with blood, and two lone feathers fall to earth.

One black.

One white.

Lightning strikes, and the scene flashes white, before all fades to black. The blood parts...

Rain poured down on the streets of Canterlot, drenching any residents that had to walk. The soft pitter patter of the droplets hitting the ground was like soothing music. Dark clouds hung over head, blocking out most of the sunlight. The wind whistled it's ageless tunes, but it was drowned out by the downpour. Most would find this type of weather annoying or ugly, but one boy found it beautiful. He was known as Frytke Hvile. His clothes and hair were drenched, but he didn't mind. In fact, he loved it. Sure, he might catch a cold, but he preferred to risk it rather than waste the opportunity to enjoy the weather. He continued his walk towards his school, Canterlot High, with a happy smile.

His shaggy, light blue hair hung in front of his face, hiding the frames of his black glasses. His signature Darksign T-shirt and dark blue trench coat were dripping with water, but he paid no mind. His black, waterproof hiking boots splashed in the puddles dotted around the street and sidewalk, an action of which he found some childish satisfaction in doing. His faded blue skinny jeans were wet and soaked, but he didn't worry, as he had nothing in his pockets anyway.

He looked up at the sky and revelled in the feeling of the drops of rain splattering against his ash white skin. He swept his hair to the side to get a better view of the sky, revealing his sea green eyes. He smiled as he thought of the conversations he would have with his tutor after school. He always enjoyed those conversations. 'Who knows,' he thought. 'Maybe I'll even get a chance to talk to Miss Celestia or Miss Luna,' His smile grew at that. The two woman were very nice, and had good senses of humor. They had helped him throughout his time at the school, and each time they were very polite.

He finally came upon the crosswalk leading to the front of school, and after looking both ways for any cars, he crossed it. The front lawn of the school was rather spacious. There were a few trees on either side of it, but they were on the far ends of the school. The grass was neatly trimmed as always, a testament to the groundskeepers strong work ethic. Two statues lay on the lawn of the school, one made of marble resembling a horse reared up on its hind legs, stood in the center of the main path to the front doors whilst the Wondercolts Statue stood off to the left of the other, resembling a golden horseshoe. The school itself, painted burgundy and white, was rather large, and well decorated. Frytke kept his smile as he walked up the steps to the school and opened the doors.

After maneuvering through the groups of his peers chatting in the hallways, Frytke made it to his locker. He fumbled with the lock a few times, but eventually got it open and grabbed his things. Frytke found his classroom and walked in. Seeing that nobody was inside yet aside from the teacher, who was also his tutor, Frytke sat down at his desk and placed his things neatly on it, then walked over to his teacher's desk. The teacher, a light-blue skinned man with glasses and brown hair with a beard, turned to Frytke with a smile.

"Hey, Frytke, how are you? Ready for today's lesson?" the man asked. Frytke nodded.

"Yeah, I can't wait to see what book you picked out for us today, Mr. Scales!" Frytke replied enthusiastically.

"How is your brother doing? Is the little one okay?" the man, Scales, asked.

"He's alright, still looking for a better job, and the little tyke is doing good. He's getting more naps and he's able to count to thirty already!" Frytke explained.

"Wow, at that age? Sounds like he's gonna be a smart kid!" Scales said with a smile. Frytke smiled wide.

"I can't wait to teach him when he gets older!" Frytke exclaimed. The bell rung before the two could talk more, so Frytke took his seat at his desk and watched as the other students filed in. The students chatted for a few seconds before Mr. Scales announces the book they will be reading, as well as what literary devices they should look for. The period dragged on and Frytke, having finished early as always, looked out the window and admired the pouring rain. His mind wandered to what he was going to do after school before the bell rang, signaling the end of the period.

Picking up his things and waving to Mr. Scales as he leaves the room, Frytke goes about his day. Hours pass, before Frytke ends his tutor session with Mr. Scales. As Frytke walks down the halls, he hears the sound of laughing around the corner. Just as he is about to turn the corner to see what is going on, a boy flies past and slams into a locker. Recognizing the boy as the stuck up prick, Blueblood, he peeks his head towards the direction he came from to see a girl in a brown leather jacket with fur lining the collar, skinny jeans with holes in the knees, black combat boots, tan skin, short, untamed white hair with light purple fringes, and amber eyes filled with hate.

"You will rue this day, you whore!" Blueblood vows before some of his goons pull him away. The girl pants heavily, before she starts trembling, and tears form in her eyes before she falls to her knees and sobs openly. Frytke, doubly concerned now, slowly and quietly walks up to the girl.

"Are you okay?" he asks. The girl immediately looks up,  and tries to wipe her tears away before growling.

"G-go away! I-I d-don't need p-pity f-f-from some d-d-dweeb!" she says with a trembling voice. Frytke smiles warmly.

"I'm not going to leave some girl crying all alone." Frytke declares, offering his hand. She says nothing for a moment, before she wipes her tears, sniffles, and accepts his offer. Pulling her up, Frytke keeps hold of her hand as he smiles brightly at her.

"Tell anyone about this, and your dead." the girl promises, her eyes brooking no doubt. Frytke nodded.

"Of course, now, let's get you to the Principal's office." Frytke walked the girl to office, and, after explaining things, the Principal thanked him. Frytke walked home that day with brighter smile than he had in the morning. Seems like he just made a new friend.

Kind of.
