Fluttershy was taking a stroll through town, she like everypony else loved seeing Ponyville getting ready for Christmas, she saw Applejack and Big Mac helping put the town's Christmas tree up and saw Apple Bloom with a box full of lights to put on the tree. She then saw Rarity putting up some mistletoe and she sighed
"I wish I knew if my special somepony would be here, " Fluttershy thought to herself "I would love a kiss under the mistletoe, like what happened to Rainbow Dash with Soarin" she continued walking through town when a very sweet smell caught her nose, she turned around and saw Pinkie Pie with a plate of sugar cookies.
"Hi, Fluttershy!" Pinkie said cheerfully " I just made a batch of sugar cookies and saw you walking by with that sad look on your face and I thought you'd meet like one
to cheer you up!".
"Oh thank you Pinkie" Fluttershy said to her friend taking a cookie then she took a bite and it was as tasty as it smelled "These are wonderful, you always make the
best cookies".
"Why do you look so sad?".
"I'm just thinking about things".
"Why are you thinking about things that make you said?".
"I don't know" Fluttershy admitted, "I just was thinking about how I have wanted a kiss under the mistletoe".
"Aww, that's so romantic!" Pinkie said to her "I wish I could do that with Cheese but he's in the Crystal Empire helping Cadence and Shining Armor with their Christmas party, why are you worried, isn't Discord your special somepony? Has he said he can't be here?".
"He hasn't said anything" Fluttershy answered, "That's why I'm worried".
"He'll be here, trust me" Pinkie assured her "Well I gotta run got more treats to bake!" she said as she ran off.
She walked a little more and saw Twilight and Spike attempting to untangle some lights, which it seemed the lights were winning the battle. Fluttershy walked up to the two of them, Twilight looked up and waved to her friend.
"Hi Fluttershy," Twilight said to her "What brings you here?".
"Just walking around town, looking at the decorations," Fluttershy told her.
"I always love doing that!" Twilight said happily "The town looks beautiful this time of year!".
"Yeah it looks beautiful but these lights are a pain in the neck to untangle" Spike added, which made the two mares chuckle.
"The princesses just sent me a letter saying that Canterlot has almost finished decorating," Twilight told Fluttershy.
"H-Have you by any chance heard anything from Discord?" Fluttershy asked,
"No I haven't sorry," Twilight told her, "I thought you and Discord wrote letters to each other?".
"We do, but I asked him if he was coming for Christmas, but he never said anything back" Fluttershy replied almost tearing up.
"Oh Fluttershy, please don't cry," Twilight said hugging her friend "He'll come I know he will".
"That's what Pinkie said, I hope you guys are right" Fluttershy responded "I really do",
"Hey, do you want to help us decorate? Maybe it will take you mind off everything?" Spike suggested.
"That sounds fun, what do you need help with?" Fluttershy asked.
"I have some candy canes that I want to put on the path to my front door, want to put those out?" Twilight said to her.
"Sure," Fluttershy said, then Twilight told her were the candy canes were, helped Fluttershy get them and put them out. Then Fluttershy helped Spike with the lights but it started getting cold so they decided to wait until the next day to put them up.
"Thanks for helping me with the lights, Fluttershy," Spike said to her "I don't think I would have gotten them untangled without you".
"You're welcome Spike," Fluttershy said to him "I better get ready to head home to take care of my animals, good night Twilight, good night Spike".
"Good night, Fluttershy" Twilight told her, then Twilight and Spike went inside the castle.
Fluttershy was walking home, her mind was racing with all the thoughts from earlier, she fed her animals and went inside to make some tea when she saw a note.
Fluttershy,
Go to the town center tonight for a surprise.
P.S Don't forget your hat and scarf, I don't want you to get sick.
Fluttershy wondered just who the note could be from then she suddenly smiled and thought "Please, please let it be him!". she grabbed her hat and scarf and galloped out the door.
She was in the town center by the tree, but there was nopony there which made her a little sad.
"I hope this isn't a prank" she whispered to herself, then there was a flash of light then Discord appeared in front of her, "DISCORD!" she shouted excitedly with tears running down her cheeks, "I thought I would see you til Christmas Day!".
"I thought you needed something special before Christmas," Discord told her then Twilight walked up next to him holding a bit of mistletoe in her magic then she put it above Fluttershy and Discord's heads.
"Uh oh, looks like somepony's under the mistletoe!" Twilight said mischievously then she winked at Fluttershy.
Fluttershy blushed, Discord chuckled a bit before leaning down and giving Fluttershy a kiss on the cheek.
"Merry Christmas Fluttershy." he said to her smiling.
"Merry Christmas Discord" Fluttershy replied, still blushing then she turned to Twilight and asked "You knew about this?".
"Of crouse! I didn't tell you anything because I didn't want to ruin the surprise" Twilight answered.
"Thank you, Twilight." Fluttershy told her then she flew up and gave Discord a kiss on the cheek "and thank you Discord".
"Whatever for?' he asked.
"For being my special somepony!" Fluttershy exclaimed hugging him tightly which made him blush and Twilight giggle.
"I'm glad you're my special somepony!" Discord told her.
"Aww, this is so sweet!" Twilight added then she yawned " Well, I think I better head back home, good night guys" she then walked back home.
"I think I better head back home soon too," Discord said to Fluttershy.
"Would you like to share some hot cocoa and cookie before you go?" Fluttershy asked.
"I would love that." he said smiling happily and the two headed back to Fluttershy's cottage.
