The Background Ponies VS The Anti Claus
Lyra woke up. Sun was shining through her windows, she felt groggy from having slept in. She slowly removed herself from her blankety womb, her room was a frozen wasteland and she wanted nothing more than to return to her bed and stay there the rest of the day. It was too cold for anypony to function. Lyra shivered and levitated her warm fleece that Bon Bon had knitted her, green matching her mane, she slipped it on and embraced the warm it gave her.
She trotted out of the bedroom and into their living room. “Good morning sleeping beauty”, Bon Bon said kissing Lyra softly on the forehead
“Sleep well?”
“Too well”, Lyra muttered in response and yawned while resting her head against Bon Bon. Suddenly Bon Bon stood up. “Ahh!” Lyra shrieked, “Bon Boooooon, I was comfy”,
“Oops sorry Lyra, would you like a coffee? I was just about to make one”,
Lyra nodded wordlessly and Bon Bon trotted into kitchen.
A little while later Lyra had drunk her coffee and was feeling a lot better. She sat on the couch with Bon Bon. “Hey Bon Bon, there is a Christmas parade in the town centre, we should go”,
“Are you sure? I don’t want the whole scenario to end up like last years.”
Last year Lyra and Bon Bon went to a Christmas parade, Lyra was so sure she could play the violin, “Of course I can play the violin, it’s just like the lyre”, she had said. Lyra walked up on to stage and started to play the violin, as expected it made a terrible screeching sound. Half way through ‘Silent Night’ -which sounded more like attack of the velociraptors- Lyra dropped the violin. And it snapped in two. Lyra had started to back away from the broken violin and the very angry violinist when she tripped over a cello, snapping the D string. She flew in the air and fell in a open trap door. Of course Lyra and Bon Bon were both very embarrassed but they had a lot more to worry about than just embarrassment once Bon Bon had pulled Lyra out of the trap door they found there was a horde of angry musicians surrounding them. Needless to say Lyra and Bon Bon spent their entire christmas working to raise enough money to pay for the damage.
“It won’t happen this year, I will playing no instruments of any description”, Lyra chuckled
“I’m glad you found it funny”, Bon Bon snapped but after seeing Lyra hurt expression she softened “Sorry Lyra, just no funny business this year”,
“‘Funny business’ I would never”, Lyra joked pretending to be hurt
“Oh shut up you!” Bon Bon giggled playfully hitting Lyra with her hoof.
Lyra and Bon Bon had been dating for six years, In Ponyville they had won the award for best couple three years running; they truly were the number one power couple. Six months ago Lyra had discovered that the Bon Bon that she loved was actually Secret Agent Sweetie Drops, a special agent working for Celestia fighting monsters. At first she felt shocked and betrayed, was their entire relationship justy part of ‘Bon Bon’s’ act. Now after having thought about it she guessed it all kind of made sense: All the different voices, all the unexplained absences, all the strange phone conversations she seem to have. It all fitted into place. She had gotten used to spy stuff and as there was no more secrets between them they were closer than ever.
Suddenly Bon Bon’s phone rung. She ran over to pick it up “Hello?”
Lyra watched her as she spoke down the phone.
“WHAAAATT!!!!” Bon Bon shouted in surprise. Lyra gave her a look of concern but Bon Bon seem to ignore her. “T-That’s not possible, just think of all the foals, you c-can’t give me something this big”, Bon Bon stuttered. Now Lyra was really worried. Lyra watched Bon Bon pace around their living room as she closed the conversation with the stallion on the phone.
The second Bon Bon ended the call Lyra asked “Who was that? When happened? Are you okay?”
“That was the head of PI6 (Pony Intelligence)”, she said sinking to the floor and leaning against a door. She took a deep breath before revealing the next part, “Santa Hooves has been kidnapped and in his place a horrific monster called the Anti claus has taken over the North Pole and plans to shut down Christmas forever.”
“What? That’s awful! Do you have to fight that asshat all by yourself?”
Bon Bon nodded solemnly.
“Why don’t I come with you?”
“No Lyra, It’s too dangerous”,
“Pfffttt, no half assed “monster” is going to defeat me, look at my moves”, she said running around the room hiding behind the furniture pretending to be a spy, “Plus nopony knows christmas like me. I know the north pole like the back of my hand”,
“You’ve never been Lyra”,
“Details”, Lyra replied “I’m going and there is nothing you can do to stop me”,
“Fine”, Bon Bon sighed, Lyra was as stubborn as a mule so there was no point in arguing, “If you're going then you're going to need a weapon”, she passed Lyra a object that looked like a golden bracelet with a emerald gem on it.
“Nice bracelet, but i can’t fight with it” Lyra joked.
Bon Bon glared at her “It’s magic enhancer” she stated as if it was the most obvious thing it the universe “It concentrates your magic so you magic is stronger”
“OOooo”, Lyra said while quickly sliding the golden bracelet on to her one of her front hooves, she decided to test it by levitating Bon Bon into the air.
“LYRA!!!!!!!!!” Bon Bon screamed in frustration while struggling in Lyra’s magic “Put me down” She said through gritted teeth. Lyra slowly lowered Bon Bon with her magic and released her from her magic’s grip.
“Thank you” Bon Bon snapped curtly. She turn around to see that Lyra was now juggling apples with her magic but in doing this she tripped over her empty coffee cup she had left there since this morning. Bon Bon giggled at the sight, as much a Lyra could get on her nerves she never ceased to amuse Bon Bon.
“Say Bon Bon?”
“Bon Bon”, Bon Bon joked
“I’m being serious”, Lyra giggled in frustration
“What is it Lyrie?”
“The bracelet won’t turn me into tyrannical dictator will it?”
“No Lyra”, Bon Bon said flatly, “That Amulet was made with dark magic, this bracelet is not”...
An hour of preparations and banter went by before Lyra and Bon Bon were ready to go. They were walking through Ponyville carrying three heavy bags of “essentials” according to Lyra. Vinyl and her marefriend Octavia walked over to greet them, “Hey, Where are you two going?” Octavia asked.
“To fight the Anti Claus and save Christmas” Lyra said happily.
Octavia and Vinyl shared questioning looks.
“Lyra!” Bon Bon hissed. Lyra shrugged
“Christmas is jeopardy and we’ve been called to save it, we’re spies” Lyra said pulling various “dramatic” poses while Bon Bon facehoofed.
“That sounds dreadful, think of all the tiny foals, may Vinyl and I join you?”
“Errr, ahh-” Bon Bon started to respond but her marefriend interrupted her before she could get a word in edgeways.
“Of course, more the merrier, right Bonny” Lyra said cheerfully. Bon Bon forced a smile
“Right” Bon Bon said stiffly
Suddenly Lyra spotted her friends, Derpy and The Doctor, across the plaza “Hey Derpy, Doc wanna go fight a big fat St Nick wannabe” she shouted across ponyville.
At this point Bon Bon dragged Lyra in a nearby alley, “May I ask why you are inviting everypony and their mother to join us on this potentially dangerous mission”,
“Bonny, I see your point, but have you heard of strength in numbers. We’ll use our friendship and kick ass”, Lyra said enthusiastically.
“I just don’t want anypony to get hurt, especially you, you do have a track record of being in worse place at the worst time”, Bon Bon replied softly.
“Maybe, but if I didn’t I wouldn’t have met you” Lyra said kissing Bon Bon softly on the forehead.
Lyra and Bon Bon returned to their friends “Hey, if you’re all joining me” Bon Bon said “You should have some weapons” she turned to face Octavia and said “Octavia you will have this sword” passing Octavia a long silver blade “Ooo this blade is simply exquisite, I can hold it like a bow.”
Bon Bon then turned to Vinyl “Here is a Sonic Bass Blaster, It shoots out concentrated blasts of musical energy”, she said. Vinyl eagerly took the blaster from Bon Bon hooves and shot it at a nearby tree, there was a loud bang and a split second of blue light and the tree was no more than a smoldering wreck. Vinyl’s eyes grew three sizes.
“Vinyl! Don’t shoot that here!” Bon Bon said exasperated. Vinyl shrugged and continued to admire the blaster.
“Derpy, I want you to fly to the sky in the battle and shoot this”, she said passing derpy a bow and a quiver of 24 Arrows.
“Okay dokey”, Derpy said in a painfully obvious tone.
“I have everything I need”, The Doctor interrupted waving his sonic screwdriver in the air “By the way would you like a ride to the north pole in the tardis it will be a lot quicker than anything else, it’s this way.
Everypony nodded in agreement so they trotted through ponyville to the tardis.
“Here she is”, The Doctor exclaimed and opened the door to the tardis. All the ponies trotted inside. All except Derpy and The Doctor gasped in surprise.
Octavia was the first to speak, “I-It’s b-”
“Bigger on the inside, yes, say hello to the tardis. She’s beautiful isn’t she”
Derpy muttered something about stallions and their toys
The doctor walked over to the control panel at the centre and pulled some levers and pressed some buttons and then they were off!
