I raised a forearm to cover my eyes as I felt light landing on my face. I turned to the side and opened my eyes. I was confused.
My room looked different from how my apartment usually looked. The walls were a soft white with a cream colored rug on the floor. And worst of all, I found that the comforters looked different.
A bad feeling sprouted in my heart as I scanned the room. My shirt, pants, underwear, socks, and shows were thrown haphazardly around the room. And another set of clothes that didn't look like mine also covered the floor.
I also found my butt felt sore. That's when I felt alarmed. I quickly turned over in the bed to confirm it wasn't true-I stopped. Any sense of hope drained from me. I was staring at someone's back.
Their skin was white, and hair was short and cream colored. After a quick glance, my eyes widened in fear when I saw the person was male.
I flew off the bed, quickly grabbed my clothes, a single thought racing through my head. 'Oh God no..... Sweet Celestia no...'
I put them on, and was alarmed as I heard shifting behind me. He was awake. Then, a voice I hadn't heard in a long time sputtered, "Nighten Gale!?"
My body froze. I couldn't move. It couldn't be who I thought it was. But when I turned around to see shocked emerald eyes staring at me, I couldn't utter a single word.
I hadn't seen Soft Shine in years. I had only met him once, as a kid. My father and I had ventured there to make a deal with a newly aspiring designer called Rarity. While I was there, I had ventured outside to meet him. We had become fast friends, and though we promised to see each other again, we had never gotten in touch.
Now here I was, in his bedroom putting on my shirt, as he lay naked in his bed, after a night of alcohol induced sex. I stuttered, but forced out a few words. "H-Hey Soft Sh-Shine..."
He gaped at me. I couldn't blame him. He had known my father was homophobic. I forced my self to explain. "A-And the name's now Night Sky."
He suddenly blushed fire truck red, like I currently was, as he probably realized what had happened last night. He spoke a few, small words. "C-Can you go into the bathroom? I need to change, and I'd rather not discuss what in Celestia's name is going on with me naked."
I happily complied, gathering my socks and shoes before rushing into his bathroom. I put on the rest of my clothes and waited, my back pressed against the door. It's not like I could go anywhere else. Then his nervous voice called out. "Nighten- Night?"
I walked out, and sat at the edge of the bed while he stood awkwardly. Then, he asked, "Why did you change your name?"
I clenched my jaw. The hard questions first, eh? I forced the words out. "My father changed it. Legally."
Soft looked nervous, and shifted his weight constantly. "Why..?"
Night Sky kept his gaze steely and guarded. "You know, Soft Shine. Well, at least you think. I come out of the closet, they change my name, and kick me out of the family."
Soft Shine looked guilty, which confused me. What could he possible be guilty for? "I-I'm sorry, Night."
Now, I would never admit this to anyone, and if you tell somebody I'll break your spine, but I had a tiny crush on him when we first met. He was handsome, for one, and still is, and he had been kind to me. He didn't make fun of my deeply colored coat and said I looked cool with it. When he spoke, it was hesitantly curious. "D-Do you remember what happened last night...?"
I went crimson. Some pieces had been flowing into my head. Now, I had been a virgin before this. I had just lost my V-Card. I suspected he had been similar, if I could remember him asking, "Where do I put this..?" He had said that in a slurred voice. My voice was quiet. "Bits and pieces..."
We fell into awkward silence.
I didn't know what to say. I mean, what could I say? "I'm sorry I slept with you" and "I didn't know what I was doing last night" sounded like lame excuses. Suddenly, I looked panicked. "W-Where are we?"
I think he understood I meant which city, because he responded with, "We're in Canterlot."
I sighed with relief, and when I did, he continued. "I live on Strotton Street. I don't know how close that is to this place."
I grinned. "Don't worry, I remember." A sudden idea popped in my head. "Hey, how about this? We forget this ever happened, and meet up for coffee at Star Bucks tomorrow at noon to catch up?"
Soft Shine looked relieved that I wasn't angry at him for screaming at him for sleeping with me. "Yeah. I think that would be fine." He then glanced at me. "If I remember correctly, you didn't drive a car here. I drove us." He smiled. "Which means I drive you to your place,k so we both know each other's addresses."
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "Yeah. I think I know that."
As we drove, I thought back to last night. 'If he wasn't gay, why was Shine mistaking me for a girl, or when he discovered I was a boy, kicked me out?' It plagued my mind for a while, but I let it slide. I had more important matters to attend to, like finding out what bar he was at and to never go there again.
