The Renegade Heroesby OblivionProphetChaptersThe ProphecyButtons NightmareChatter Bugs NightmareAngel's NightmareThe ProphecyThe Prophecy It was a relatively calm day for Fluttershy, just taking a casual stroll through the meadows, lightly singing to herself and to her bird-friends. And then she gasped as she saw a pony, lying in the meadow... Not moving. The pony looked like a stallion, with a dark-green coat as well as a silver-and-blue mane. He was wearing a black cloak with the hood down, revealing his broken and bleeding horn. Fluttershy quickly raced to the unknown pony, panicking and shuddering, "Oh no, oh no, oh no! W-What do I d-do...!" Not able to think of anything else, Fluttershy quickly grabbed him and proceeded to carefully carry him to her place, as the hospital was simply too far away. Little did she know however, that a shiny gold medallion dropped out of his cloak when he was picked up. At her cottage, Fluttershy quickly, yet gently, set the stranger onto the couch, much to the chagrin of Angel Bunny, who had to hop down onto the floor. She quickly removed the cloak and gasped. The unknown pony had wings. He was an alicorn. Fluttershy stared at him for a little bit, too shell-shocked to move. But then she gulped and shook her head, remembering that he was injured, badly. She quickly ran out of the room to grab her first-aide kit, Angel quickly following behind, mostly because she was ignoring his demands for carrots. But as she left the room, a certain draconequus had materialized, looking around quickly. "Fluttershy? Oh where could she be... it's not like her to be late for our tea party." Discord blinked a little bit as he finally noticed the wounded pony on the couch. "...Now, who are YOU?" Discord grumbled quietly to himself. He slithered over to him, suddenly wearing a plaid trench coat and wielding a magnifying glass. He quickly inspected all around the strange pony before he sneered a bit. "Your not from around here... are you?" Just as he raised his fingers to snap him back to wherever he came from, Fluttershy had burst through the door, Angel on her back and contently munching on a carrot. Fluttershy gasped and gave an angry glare at Discord, "Discord!" As soon as she said the draconequi's name. the strange pony gasped loudly and opened up his eyes, revealing that they looked like a galaxy. Black, blue, and purple background with hundreds of tiny, white, irregular dots. He sat straight up, panting heavily. He began muttering softly before bursting out laughing, his eyes not closing once. After a minute of laughing for him and awkward shock for him he quieted down, only to grin maniacally. They all just stood there in stock silence before Fluttershy squeaked a little, timidly stammering "U-Uh... a-are y-y-you o-ok?" The stranger whipped his head around to her, grinning even more and giggling. "Ok? I'm moooooore than ok~! I'm The Prophet after all~! Teeheehee~. I'm here to give a warning! Hurray for the end of all worlds~! After all," He twisted his head towards Discord, his tone suddenly dropping all of his laughter, leaving only a dead serious monotone, "The King Of Madness will arise." He suddenly opened his mouth wide, wider than it would physically be possible, and living static started to pour out of it, swirling around Discord like a tornado, moving faster and faster, until it started to shake the house, and it moved faster still. Fluttershy tried to scream, but the howling winds easily drowned out all noise, despite her best efforts. Eventually the winds subsided, the static being sucked into Discord. Once the dust settled, Discord no longer looked like himself. Gone was his colorful and playful demeanor, replaced only with malice and cruelty. His body crackled with grey lightning as he crumpled to the ground. The Prophet started to cackle madly, dropping to one knee. "KING FOLIE HATH ARISEN! LET THE MULTIVERSE TREMBLE BEFORE HIS WAKE!" Meanwhile... Button Mash groaned and threw his forelegs up in the air. "Uuuugh! I give up! You win!" Sweetie Belle giggled at her coltfriend's frustration as he slumped down on the couch. "Awww, cheer up Button! At least you got me down to 19 health!" Button grumbled a little and said under his breath "Out of 20..." Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes playfully and sighed contently, leaning against Button Mash. She giggles a little bit and nuzzles into his neck. "So what do you wanna do? Rarity's got going to be home for a while." Button sighed, turning his head to look at her, "I don't kno-" He was cut off as Sweetie's lips met his, making him blush slightly but kiss back. They stayed like that for a couple seconds until Sweetie pulled back, a sly grin on her face. "Oh I think you know exactly what we could do~..." Sweetie leaned in for a kiss again, but stopped, faintly hearing a distant ringing in her ear. She sat back up, looking around confused. Button tilted his head, a little concerned for his marefriend, "Sweetie? You alright babe?" Sweetie shook her head and smiled, "Oh it's nothing. I just thought I heard-" There it was again, only louder, much louder. Sweetie gulped as a chill went down her spine. Button's voice suddenly turned serious, but protective. "Heard what Sweetie?" Suddenly Sweetie's eyes shot open, the pupils dilated into a weird shape, eight arrows each pointing a different direction, and a blood curdling scream emitting from her throat. She started to flail wildly, clipping Button on the temple, knocking him out. Meanwhile... "La La-la La-la La-la La-la!" Chatter Bug sang to herself, happily trotting over to her favorite aunt's house, which doubled as a bakery so bonus points, from school. Once she got there she threw open the door and called out, her eyes closed and she was grinning brightly. "Aunty Pinkiiiiieeee! I'm hooooooome!" ... When she didn't get a reply Chatter Bug blinked a bit, opening her eyes and looking around the shop. Or rather, what was left of it. Chatter Bug's jaw dropped when she saw the damage that was brought upon Sugarcube Corner. Everything was either smashed, warped, or simply burnt to charcoals. The only thing that was untouched, was a single, lone cupcake with rainbow colored frosting, seemingly in the middle of the devastation. On the cupcake though was a black decoration... Of eight arrows. Buttons NightmareThe Call Button slowly opened his eyes, yawning a bit and looking around sleepily. "Uuuugh, what happened...?" He rested a hoof against his groggy head, and started walking forward, passing by a bunch of flying dodo birds, giant mice hiding from tiny elephants, Zomponys building a house out blocks... ...Button blinked once. "...This is a dream isn't it?" All of sudden, the dreamscape shifts and warps, crude laughter emanating from all directions. To his surprise it open inwards to reveal a plain office room, complete with the oak desk. Button gulped a bit before cautiously trotting in. "U-Uhhh h-hello? What's g-going on?" Suddenly, Button was looking into a glass window showing an unconscious Princess Luna strapped to a shiny, metal table. Button's eyes shrink into pinpricks as a large, shiny metal machine quickly moved down from the cieling. The machine split apart into multiple segments, each one featuring it's own unique device, ranging from needles and buzz saws, to belt grinders and tazers. The most prominent one being the giant needle in the middle, filled with some sort of growing green liquid. The maniacal voice came back, as if it was from a loud speaker. Her mouth opened to scream but the glass had been sound-proofed. The green liquid started to drain from its canister, causing Luna to spasm and jerk around violently, her body starting to bulge in various spots. The needle retracted back into the machine, causing the other parts to whir up and activate. Luna suddenly arched her back, her eyes swollen with green taint as her chest started to bulge out greatly, until it burst in a shower of blood and guts, splattering the window. Button just stood there, speechless. He stayed there for what felt like hours. He had seen many a horror from his past of video gaming, but never something like this. Slowly, tears started to form in his eyes. But just as he was about to start crying, the voice returned, sounding like it was inside his head. She lifts her hoof up to walk away before the hoof starts quivering, like it's unsure what to do. It slowly reaches for the centerpiece of her gown and pulls the medallion off, throwing it to Button and letting the gown burn and shrivel up, along with the rest of her body. Button Mash could swear he could hear a faint voice as the last of the ashes flew off into the depths of the dream, "Button Mash... Find the others... Save the Multi-verse... The Medallions will guide you..." Button Mash blinks a little bit before picking up the medallion, the dream starting to collapse around him. He gripped it tightly and growled into the blank, fading sky. "I will find you Folie... Mark my words." "And I will make you pay." And then the dream collapsed. Chatter Bugs NightmareChatter Bug stirred within her sleep, twitching and mumbling, her brow furrowed in desperation. She suddenly gasped and shot straight up in bed, opening her eyes wider than they should be able to and screaming harshly, "PINKIE!!!" She looked around wildly, trying do find the beloved party pony, only to be met with cold, off-green stone walls. Chatter Bug blinked rapidly, confusion washing over her. Was it just a dream? Where was she? And why the hay was there a bed in a cave? She furrowed her brows, more and more questions troubling her mind. Gulping, she considered calling out to see if somepony was there, but she realized that they would have already heard her. Chatter Bug instead decided to look around the room, and realized that the walls were covered in a thin layer of slime, tiny green veins glowing and pulsing underneath. What was more peculiar, a collection of veins seemed to have formed a symbol of some sort. Like an eight-pointed star, but with arrows. She frowned and slowly slipped out of bed, walking over to the wall. Something seemed off about this, almost... familiar. It wasn't until she heard the tell-tale buzz of insect wings slowly growing louder did she realize where she was, but she couldn't fathom how. Somehow, as if it was her nightmare's realized, she was back in her birth-home. Chatter Bug was back in the Changeling Hive. Chatter Bug's eyes shot open, old instincts kicking in and forcing her her to bolt out of the room, heading down the opposite hall of the buzz. She galloped as fast as she could, weaving in and out of as many corridors as she found, trying to throw off any potential tail. She eventually slowed down and panted quietly, fear ebbing from her mind as she took in her surroundings. Each hallway she looked into seemed to only lead to even more, each one virtually identical in almost every way. Even worse, there were no landmarks for her to be able to use for directions. Chatter Bug pondered this for a second, thinking back to her training once more, before getting an idea. The Hive is built underground, and as such she needed to go up to escape. She then walked up to a wall, and lightly shaved off some of the slime, blowing air onto it and shaping it into a small orb. She then dropped it onto the ground, making note of which way it rolled. Chatter Bug smiled as the ball rolled to the right. That means up is left. Picking up the ball and storing it in her mane, that's one trick they couldn't ever teach her, she started walking towards the left, occasionally dropping the ball every now and then to make she was still going the right way. Eventually she reached a sharp slope, leading upwards and into what seemed like outside light. Grinning, Chatter Bug galloped up the slope, only to find that she was in a small, torch-lit room, a large, stone double-door. Blinking, she inspected the doors more closely, noticing the light that was shining through the edges of the door. She frowned, something just didn't feel right. She then felt a tugging sensation in her mane and pulled out the slime-ball. She then noticed that the symbol from the room had appeared on it, but in blood. Shrieking, Chatter Bug dropped the ball, only for the ball to rocket towards the door. As the ball collided into the door, it glowed brightly before melding into the door, the eight-arrowed star now prominent on the door. She screamed as she looked at the edges once more, a haunting black light poured through, accompanied by masses of writhing, slimy grey tentacles. Chatter Bug quickly turned around only to find the door in front of her again, but thirty feet closer and open. Inside was nothing but blackness, pure blackness. Then Pinkie walked around the corner, her head having been blown up and her cutie-mark being replaced by that accursed star. Her neck splayed out like a banana peel, part of her spinal cord dangling into the open hole that was her esophagus. And then Pinkie giggled. "Pheya shilly philly! Dont'cha know it'sh rude not tcho knock?" Chatter Bug promptly upchucked at the sight of Pinkie, tears streaming down her face. Coughing to remove the bile from her throat, she shakily looked back up, only to find Pinkie right in her face, bouncing up and down as if nothing was wrong. "Guess what! Guess what, guess what, guess what, guess what, guess what!!!" Before Chatter Bug could even budge her mouth open, Pinkie's cavity of a esophagus opened up, the slime-ball from earlier slowly squelching it's way out. Once it escaped Pinkie's throat with a wet plop, the star started glowing, Pinkie's body falling onto the ground with a dull thud. Chatter Bug then heard a deep, haunting giggle. It sounded like Pinkie, but it didn't at the same time. And it came from the ball. "Oh you little silly, worrying about ol' Auntie Pinkie Pie! You should know by now that I'm tougher than a meanie-weenie cupcake!" The voice giggled again, this time coming directly from the ball. "Although, this time I'm going to need your help! I just need you to do ooooone teensy-tiny little thing for me. Ok?" The orb floated closer, the star glowing even brighter. "I just need you to touch the glowey, white friendliness-ball!" Chatter Bug gulped and looked at the orb again, seeing all of her happiest memories with her flashing in the star. All the fun she's had, she can have again. Tears welling up in her eyes, Chatter Bug slowly started lifting her hoof, until she felt something cold and squishy on her other hoof. She looked over to her leg, only to see Pinkie's hoof touching her, covered in a red liquid. She looked at beside Pinkie's leg and gasped as she saw, clear as day, a crudely made message on the ground. T R A P When Chatter Bug looked up, all she could see was the silhouette of a giant dragon, whose head had an antenna that lead all the way to the very orb that she was just inches from touching. She screamed and quickly backpedaled, tripping over herself as she did so. The last thing she saw, were two glowing red eyes, on yellow scleras. Author's Note Certain people thought that the last chapter was a little tame on the gruesomeness factor, one of them being me. So I decided to crank it up to 11. Angel's NightmareAngel Bunny snapped awake, blinking as he looked at his surroundings. Or rather, the lack thereof. He was floating in a black void. Nothing to his left, nothing to his right, above him nor below him. Nothing. Just an eternal pitch black void. He frowned and shook his head. He needed to get out of here, wherever he was. Then he felt something. It was... warm. He shifted his body and started swimming his way towards it, trying to find the source, only to find that the more he swam, the colder he got. He stopped and noticed that as he waited, he progressively got warmer. He pondered this for a bit, trying to find the logic. He shrugged it off though, he's seen weirder. As he drifted closer to whatever the heat was coming from, he noticed a small pinprick of white. Tilting his head, he watched it slowly get closer. Once he got close enough to it, he realized that it was a hole in the void. He carefully swam towards the hole, cautiously pulling himself through and falling onto a clean, white tiled floor. He frowned as he looked around. Now, instead of everything being black, everything was white! The thing was... there were actual things here instead of simply nothing. He saw that he seemed to be in some sort of storage room, only... the boxes were white, the walls were white too. Even the light was white! He shook his head, Fluttershy owed him some carrots after this. Angel started hearing some footsteps from the other side of the door. They sounded like that stupid owner-thief Discord, but something seemed... off. Angel quickly, but quietly, hid behind some of the boxes, not liking this sense of unease coming from this... thing. It was similar to how he had felt when Harry had moved in, this... primal fear. It disturbed Angel deeply, and he knew for a fact that he did not want to get caught by whatever was causing it, no offense to Harry. And then the doors slammed open, causing the entire room, Angel excluded, to turn completely and utterly black. Angel couldn't even tell the floor from the box he was currently hiding behind! He stopped breathing as he felt that sense of unease jump straight into pure panic. He silently gulped as he felt the thing moving around, until it seemed to have found what it was looking for and left the room, causing the room to return to white. Angel let out a shaky breath. He didn't know what was going on, but he did not like it. He gulped and steeled his nerves, walking around the box to see that the thing left the door open. Beyond the door was another pitch-black void. Angel cautiously walked up to the door, watching as the void rapidly dissipate from the right to the left, leaving a white hallway with white decorations. Angel thought about this for a second, and came to the conclusion that the void spreads outward from the thing, retreating back towards it once it leaves a room. That seemed logical, mildly convenient but logical, and would also mean that the thing had left the hallway and went left. Angel smirked and gave chase, walking out the doorway and heading left. Once he reached the door, he would wait for the void to dissipate, and followed after it. He followed the thing throughout the eternally white corridors and room's, until the void stopped dissipating. Angel blinked and continued waiting, but the void didn't dissipate. He tilted his head and decided to take a chance, poking his head in and looking around. To his surprise, the room was completely black, but the objects in the room weren't taken by the void. It looked like it lead to some sort of... theater? Cautiously, Angel walked in, ready to run as soon as he felt something wrong. He took a look at the stage and gasped. On the stage, holding a conductor's wand in hoof, was Fluttershy. Angel blinked a bit and shook his head. Was he seeing things? Fluttershy couldn't possible be here, that thing took her, didn't he? He looked at her and frowned. Something didn't sit right about this. Even so, Angel slowly made his way down the dark auditorium. As he neared her, he noticed something strikingly different about her. Her eyes were slits. Like cat eyes. He stopped a little bit behind and to the side of her, and frowned. This Fluttershy seemed... Confident? Almost... Angry? No... Determined? Yeah, she seemed... Determined. Then she raised her hoof, conductor's wand with it, and started conducting. Angel shivered as the bone-chilling melody hit his ears, his eyes glistening as the truth hit him like a train. This really was Fluttershy, the truth was in the performers. On the stage, beyond this Fluttershy, was over a hundred birds, all singing in cadence to the song. "Y͞͠o̷͢u̴̧҉̛̕ ̶̸͢s̵h̵̀͟ò̸u͢͡l̡̢͠d͏̀͘͞n͟͜'̷̶́t̶͞͠ ͏b҉̶̢͝e̵̕͢͟ ̛̕͟͟͝h̡́̕͜͞e̶͜ŕ̷̶̀e̵̶̕.͡͡" Angel froze and turned around. There he saw him in all of his glory. The thing that did this to Fluttershy. Flutershy of all ponies. Angel's eye twitched once. Twice. At the third twitch Angel jumped on the monster that dared to mess with Fluttershy, biting down as hard as he could. It howled in pain, ripping Angel off of him and throwing him to the ground, causing Angel to break through the floor, sealing him back into the black void. Angel grinned as he spat out a tuft of grey fur. It seem's that he didn't go down without a fight. Although... his mouth did feel a little weird. He smacked his lips a bit before frowning. "Ah piss... I got blood on my lips!" ...Wait... Did Angel just talk? "Yeah, yah got a bloody problem with that mate?" ...Only due to the fact that you sound Australian. "Well that's because I am bloody Australian!" ...Oh. Well... Shit. ...Can we get back on track here please? "Yeah, yeah... fucking racist..." ...I am going to ignore that. Anyways. Angel Bunny suddenly blacked out, never to remember having talked to the narrator ever again. Angel Bunny woke up suddenly, blinking a bit and looking around. Where was he? Oh right, that void place. He remembered something about a theatre, some monster thing, and talking to someone? Odd, just who would he hav- And suddenly Angel bumps his head on some sort of grey guitar that was... somehow scaled to his size? Angel blinked a bit and rubbed his eyes. What was this of all thing's doing in here? Not that he minded, it was a sweet guitar after all, but why was it here in the void? And why was it scaled to his size? Was... Was he supposed to play it or something? It was worth a shot. Angel drifted up to the guitar, and grabbed a hold of it. He started testing the tuning and found that it was perfectly tuned already. He gulped and looked around for any indication for what to play. When he couldn't find anything he sighed and decided to just play with the strings randomly. Just as he was about to pluck the first chord, his mind flitted back to Fluttershy. His breathing hitched as he started to tear up, mind going blank from sheer loneliness. Fluttershy was gone. And he couldn't get her back. He looked at the guitar again, and mentally begged it to help him. To help him understand. And then he started playing. Angel gasped as could feel the song passing through him, and gritted his teeth as he felt the void around him start to consume him. He closed his eyes and focused only on the song, letting it guide him through the eternal wasteland. "Tonight I'm so alone, This sorrow takes ahold" Wait, who said that? And, are there drums playing? "Don't leave me here so cold" Angel opened his eyes for the source of the singing, only to find nothing. "Never want to be so cold" "Your touch used to be so kind. Your touch used to give me life. I've waited all this time." Wait, the void's starting to get a hazy, and Angel could vaguely see... something. "I've wasted so much time! Don't leave me alone, Cause I barely see at all." "Don't leave me aloooo-ooone." Angel frowned a bit before closing his eyes, focusing back onto the song. "Iiiiiiiii'm" "Falling in the black! Slipping through the cracks! Falling to the depths, can I ever go back. Dreaming of the way it used to be." "Can you hear me?" "Falling in the black! Slipping through the cracks! Falling to the depths can I ever go back! Falling inside the black. Falling inside, falling inside the black." "You were my source of strength, I've traded everything that I love for this one thing." "Stranded in the offering" "Don't leave me here like this. Can't hear me scream from the abyss. And now i wish for you my desire" "Don't leave me alone" "Cause I barely see at all" "Don't leave me alone, I'm" "Falling in the black" "Slipping through the cracks" "Falling to the depths can I ever go back" "Dreaming of the way it used to be" "Can you hear me?" "Falling in the black" "Slipping through the cracks" "Falling to the depths can I ever go back" "Falling inside the black" "Falling inside falling inside the black" "Black, black, black" "Falling in the black..." "Slipping through the cracks..." "Falling in the black" "Slipping through the cracks" "Falling to the depths can I ever go back" "Dreaming of the way it used to be" "Can you hear me?" "Falling in the black" "Slipping through the cracks" "Falling to the depths can I ever go back" "Falling inside the black" "Can you hear me?" "Falling inside the black" "Can you hear me?" "Falling inside the black" "Can you hear me?" "Falling inside" "Falling inside, falling inside the black" Angel opened his eyes just as the song ended, the sight of two ponies, clear as day, filling his eyes. On his left, was a young, brown stallion with lighter-brown mane and tail. He also wore a propeller beanie like a proper gentle-stallion and was holding a microphone. On his right, a young brown mare with bright candy-green mane and tail. That night, three creatures woke up at the same time, and the very world felt itself tremble. Because shit was going to get real.
The ProphecyThe Prophecy It was a relatively calm day for Fluttershy, just taking a casual stroll through the meadows, lightly singing to herself and to her bird-friends.
Suddenly, Button was looking into a glass window showing an unconscious Princess Luna strapped to a shiny, metal table.
