//-------------------------------------------------------// Metro equestria -by Szalhi- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Foreword //-------------------------------------------------------// Foreword My name is Rainbow Dash. I was an element of Harmony. And now I’m looking for my friends. Before the war, I was put into a pod. I don’t know why I was, but I was excluded from the war and for a good reason it was, because this wasn’t an average war as you know. I woke up quite a while ago. I was the only one without a faulty pod. Mine opened on the correct date. My friends woke up various times before me. They couldn’t stay, there wasn’t enough resources and they would’ve attracted attention. Twenty years I had been frozen for. Twenty years and life has been happening without me. But then it was time to wake up. Time for me to go from one world to another. With absolutely no idea what has happened and why the world is as it is. This is my story of how I survived in a new world. //-------------------------------------------------------// A note //-------------------------------------------------------// A note Dear Rainbow, I’m sorry you have to read this, but we can’t be with you right now. I don’t know how to tell you this, but Equestria is not really Equestria anymore. Look around you and you will see. The room, is pretty clean. But that’s about it. Look outside and you will see the truth. The world is dead. Everything outside is gone. Everything that exists on the surface is either dead or mutated. And the mutated are not pleasant. Our pods were damaged and faulty. They all opened at different times. It’s impossible to live up there permanently. There’s equipment that can hold you out up there, the air is toxic, but still filterable. Gas masks can help and there are a lot. But they can only last so long. But, as you know, a metro system has been built, allowing ponies to get around quicker from towns. Underground they work faster. But they also serve another purpose. They’re makeshift bomb shelters. Ponies can live down there. But, it’s not all safe down there. Some ponies can be nice, but other’s not so much. Two factions have been brought up. One called the Solar Empire and one called the Lunar Republic. The princesses are not with us anymore, but these factions are named after them, for what reasons an empire and a republic were to exist now, we don’t know, but it is plausible. You need to know how to use a gun. For killing mutants and other ponies. Ponies will kill you, I know it sounds inequine, but there’s nothing else you can really do. And the mutants. They are different. Even Fluttershy couldn’t talk to them. Magic, it’s so limited. The only form of magic practically available is the inert grip. I tried my spells, but they lacked. No pegasi have been flying and Earth ponies can’t grow food as easily (although only mushrooms are effectively grown.) Bits aren’t Currency anymore. Military grade rounds are used now because you can’t have the same currency since everypony has lost atleast something, making the value of bits random. Military grade rounds are more practical anyway. They do more damage, but since they’re currency, you’re better off saving them for exchange. This place is dangerous, the only reason why no one has found you is because of the lack of noise. But we were woken up before you. Now that you’re awake, you can’t go back to stasis. Our pods were damaged. Yours too, but ours more. To protect you, knowing we can’t open it prematurely, we left, so no one could find us and find you. Go to ponis. I’m sure I’ll be there. The ponies there must recognise me as the once student of the princess and accept me. But, you don’t have to, if it’s too hard. I understand that. We mostly got split up. Find the others if you must. The world is waiting for you, but you must not give up. ~Twilight. 20 years after blast. P.S As of now, I don’t know what caused this. I haven’t met many ponies and the ones I have don’t know much either. //-------------------------------------------------------// Day 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Day 1 I put the note down. Twilight, isn’t here. And nopony else is either. It’s just here. Inside this chamber. I sighed and my head fell into my hooves. I thought I was the bravest pony in ponyville. The bravest out of my friends, but I was just brave because I knew. I didn’t know this was coming. The TV monitor was displaying the outside door. It looked so decayed. The camera moved to display the tunnel where a sealed door was at the end. I switched cameras and saw what I didn’t want to see. The whole world appeared dead. There was waste everywhere and practically no greenery. I remembered when we entered that it was pretty much under Canterlot. The waste was debris from Canterlot. I couldn’t quite see Ponyville. But I didn’t really want to. I know there was a station in Ponyville so some ponies must’ve made it. But what about cloudsdale? That place was practically magic, but it’s made of clouds so the metro didn’t connect there. Twilight said magic barely existed. For all I know the clouds got swept away. Did anypony make it? I couldn’t quite see the sky since there were dead trees blocking off the cameras view. Terrible positioning of the camera I would say. I shut off the camera and walked to the pods. I walked over to the others and touched them. They were open and I felt no magic around them. I touched mine and there was magic for a moment before it dissipated. I heard a beep and went over to the monitor which now displayed a message. Low power it said. I couldn’t stay here much longer. I barely had any food and with low power, the ventilation would run out faster. I didn’t know much about technology as Twilight did, I didn’t know the average life of a battery by looking at it. I Went over to the refrigerator. I unplugged it before grabbing its contents and filling up my bag. I closed it and unplugged it. Electricity wasn’t common 10 years ago, but now we have lots of stuff. I don’t know how, we just went through a big technological age. Twilight said I needed a gun and a gas mask to survive up there. But there was no gun. But I did manage to find a gas mask and a journal. I holstered my gas mask and stowed the journal. This was pretty much it. “Nothing else to do,” I muttered to myself. “I’ll probably get eaten as soon as I leave.” I shut off the generator. I looked back as the lights turned off. I pulled on my coat as I opened the locked door and closed it behind. I don’t think anypony else has found this place. It was pretty well hidden when I entered. I turned on my headlamp. I walked down the corridor, the floor squeaking every once in a while. I came up to the sealed door. I grabbed it and forced the handle to the side grunting. These doors were tough, but this one probably hasn’t been used since they left. I coughed as the air outside flooded inside. It burned in my throat and was hard to breathe. Twilight was right. I chucked on my Gas mask as fast as I could and attached the filter. The Burning sensation calmed down and stopped. I propped the door to the side and prepared my eyes for the burning light. That never came. The world outside was dark. Not night dark, but it seemed like it’s meant to be this way. I stepped outside and took a moment to gaze outside. Over in the distance, was Ponyville. It was all. Battered up. Buildings fallen. Some buildings standing but still okay. Sweet Apple Acres. The building was roughly standing. It didn’t seem that worthwhile but I decided that I might check back on it later. The metro entrance could be seen covered up. I’m not sure if anypony was down there, if there was, there probably wouldn’t be that many. Ponyville is quite small so it only has one station which isn’t really that big. I still didn’t have a gun. The air was toxic so I bet that not many ponies would come up to scavenge. There are supposed to be beasts up here. I haven’t met any yet. So I decided to fly there. I spread my wings and leaped into the air, flapping my wings with rhythm. I went up into the air, when I saw something in the distance. A big Winged beasts with Six legs, coming right at me. “Oh buck, oh buck!” I cried out as I tried to move myself. He problem was that I couldn’t budge. It felt like there was barely any magic inside me anymore. I totally forgot about Twilight’s message. How she explained that there was practically not enough magic around. My Pegasus magic practically all drained out and there was nothing to replace it. I closed my eyes in fear as the beast swooped in and grabbed me. It’s giant wings mimicking a bird in ratio.
