Chapter 1. The Meeting (I)
Commander Breaker nervously walked along the complex, heading to the main building, where in less than five minutes an official transport was supposed to pick him up and leave him at the Imperial Palace, where the most important person in the entire planet was waiting for him; The Emperor of Mankind.
Breaker's boots made a soft stomp noise as he walked through the corridor leading to the exit of the SATCOM building. Two heavily armed soldiers guarding the door stomped the floor and saluted as he passed by, and then held open the doors until he got out.
130 kilometers further, an inimidating black stylized transport ship with the Imperial Emblem on the sides headed south at high speed, with one mission; bringing Commander Breaker to the Imperial Palace.
The ship was a modded CGS-35, a light civilian ship, mainly used for charter and private flights, and recently as transport gunships for the military.
But this one had a cold fusion engine, more powerful and faster than the turbojet engine of the civilian version, plus the fuselage was made with an alloy of tungsten and alluminium, which provided a light but resistent aircraft. And it was armed with a nose plasma cannon, capable of making a hole of the size of a human body on any light armoured vehicle or medium armoured APC, hidden inside the body, for appearance and aerodynamic purposes, and two rocket pods armed with guided tandem charge missiles, one at each side of the fuselage, hidden inside as well.
Adding armor to the craft would have no use, because thanks to the chassis deflaut materials, it was inmune to medium fire, incluiding from rifles to heavy machineguns.
The black ship made an agressive turn to avoid a flock of birds, creating white trails that came out of the tip of it's wings and "Y" shaped tail. From inside the cockpit, a pilot dressed in a black flying suit muttered from behind his helmet a battery of curses against the birds, then he calmed down and carefully checked all the screens looking for any possible damage. There was none. Sighing in relief, the pilot redirected the aircraft to the route leading to the base.
The heavy looking gray armor shined emiting sparkles as Breaker walked near the landing zone, waiting for the vehicle that would bring him to the most important place on Earth. Literaly.
Looking at his right wrist, he checked the watch
- " That shuttle will arrive in any minu..."
He didn't had time to finish the sentence when he heard the typical soft rumble that a cold fusion engine made. Looking up, a black CGS-35 with the Imperial Emblem approached the landing zone, as Breaker walked back a few steps further than the green lines that represented a "safe zone". He had bad memories about extractions or landings that didn't went as expected because of enemy fire, a mechanical issue, or whatever, so he always stood a few steps behind the hypotetical "safe zone". Refering to vehicles, especially aerial ones, there never was one.
Still looking up, he saw the landing gear extending under the stunning bird, then, the thrusters on the upper body, behind the wings, tilted downwards and the small impulsors under the body emited light blue flames as the transport started to slowly lose elevation.
The Commander involuntary put his hand in front of the face, to protect himself of the wind and the dust that the thrusters were supposed to cause, but he put it down as no dust or strong wind appeared arround the ship, then he realized that the engines were modded as well.
-" Of course... Our politicians can't stand the tinyiest of the stains on their suits, nor they can get their precious hair style ruined..."
After making that sarcastic comment, the doors opened and the Commander walked inside the landing area, still looking at the ship, which returned his reflexion; a medium sized man, on his 20s, dressed on a gray armor which consisted on a full chest vest (from neck to stomach), full leg covers, with knee protector and detachable feet cover , arm covers, with elbow protector and detachable gloves, with one holograpic computer (depending on if you are left handed, it will be on you right hand, and the oposite if you are right handed) which can display a lot of information; the time, a map, and that sort of things.
He proudly looked at his four holographic service ribbons and then to the gold triangle painted on his shoulder pad, which identified himself as a Commander, then he got on and fastened the seatbelt, the door closed and Breaker looked through the black glass as they flown away from the base.
Half an hour later, the ship flew quietly above the huge city of Madrid, capital city of the Empire of Mankind, where the Palace was, in the center, an enormous glass building in the shape of a spine, in the middle of a big square garden, with one smaller tower on each corner, with at least six AA plasma and four AA laser turrets on the rooftop. At least that was what Breaker was able to see, but he was sure that there was more.
The shuttle headed to one of the many landing zones of the main tower, as Breaker tapped his fingers on his lap, looking through the window, from that height he saw the radial distribution of the city; the spine in the middle, and all the main streets converging there.
The Emperor walked in front of the big window facing the landing zone, a couple of floors below, and saw the CGS-35
-" Ah... Jack is here already... Good."
