ONE

The phone rang. The clear, thrill of a barely used phone. Soon enough, it was accompanied by a clopping of hooves, fumbling for the phone.

Those same hooves raised the phone, trembling all the way. "Yes?"

A voice replied, "We need your rifle again."

"What for?" The pony trembled as she listened, shuffling her back hooves.

"Like before. Assassination."

"Targets?"

"Target. Singular. We'll send you the relevant info soon. Make it clean, no witnesses and don't miss."

The pony laughed. "Do I ever?"

She put down the phone and stared off into space for a bit. With Celestia's sun was setting in the west, she began to laugh.


For Detective Summer Blossom, waking up was bad enough already. Being forced to haul ass to a murder scene was not her way of waking up.

But her job more or less dictated her routine for her.

"Hey, Blossom." The officer on duty greeted her.

"Morning, Sargent. What happened?" Blossom sipped from her cup of coffee.

"I'll let you in. The inspector's inside can probably do a better job of explaining than I can."

Blossom nodded her thanks. The door opened, and she trotted in.
