Discord Wars Side Story: Reunion
Luna walked through the halls of Cantorlot Castle. It had been a year since her return and she was starting to get the hang of the modern world. Gaurds saluted her as she passed by on her way to her room to raise the moon. Closing the door to her room she sighed. She was free from Nightmare Moon, she had made amends with her sister, and she was once again incharge of the moon and stars. But she still felt empty.
She knew of course why she felt this way. She missed her daughter. When Luna and Celestia first arived at the castle after she had been freed, the first thing Luna had asked her sister was of the fate of her daughter and Celestia had given her some unfortunate news. Apaently being half mortal she had died some hundered years back. With the moon in it's proper place Luna exited her room and began to walk towards the kitchens to get something to eat.
"So what are you going as?" She heard an off duty guard ask in nearby hallway.
"I don't know." A second guard replied. "My wife said she has a couples costume picked out for us."
"I just can't wait to get home. This is my daughters first Nightmare Night." The first guard said.
"Nightmare Night?" Luna questioned in her mind as she eavesdropped on the two guards.
"Well the celebration we have here is supposedly nothing compared to what they've got going down in Ponyville." The second guard stated before they walked out of ear shot.
"Hmmm. Ponyville. That's where Celestia’s student lives with her friends." Luna thought to her self. "You know it's strange but Celestia’s student bears an uncanny resemblance to my daughter." She said tapping her chin. "Of course she was an alicorn and Ms. Sparkle is a unicorn."
Dismissing the thought Luna went back to her room to grab her favorite cloak before heading to where her chariot was parked.
Luna layed down in front of a statue of Nightmare Moon and began to cry. Not just because the ponies of Ponyville had shunned her but because her sister had lied to her. When she had been freed from Nightmare Moon Celestia told her that she would help the ponies of Equestria no longer see her as Nightmare Moon yet it seemed ponies all over Equestria were celebrating a Holliday all about fearing her as if she was still controlled by the nightmare.
"Stupid statue." She said between sobs. "I thought Celestia said she got rid of all these. Guess that was just another lie."
"Princess Luna?" A voice said from behind her.
"Star Swirl?!" The night princess though when she saw the belled hat of her deceased husband before seeing that it was just Celestia's student.
"Hi, my name is-" Twilight began before being interrupted.
"Star Swirl the Bearded. Commendable costume! Thou even got the bells right." Luna complemented sighing at the memory of her former family.
"Thank you! Finally! Somepony who gets my costume!" Twilight said exitedly before recomposing herself. "Uh, I just came to welcome you to our celebration! My actual name is-"
"Twilight Sparkle." Luna said once again interrupting her. "Celestia's student and daughter of the noble house of Velvet. I knew you're ansestor Clover the Clever." She explained seeing the shocked look on Twilights face.
"Well yes but that's... not entierly true though." The unicorn mare said sheepishly.
"Oh?" Luna said raising an eyebrow
"Well, I was raised by them and I still consided them to be my family, but I resently found out that I was addopted into the family." Twilight began. "In fact, though I didn't know it at the time, I met my real mother at the Summer Sun Celebration last year."
"Last year?" But that's when I..." Luna thought to herself before something clicked her mind. "Where art thou going with this?"
"And after my friends and I defeated Discord three mothes ago, I used a memory spell on myself to be on the safe side. Thats when I remembered something importaint. I remembered who I am." Twilight said looking at the ground.
"And who art thou?" The princess asked, tears welling up in her eyes, already knowing what she as going to say.
"I'm Princess Twilight. Alicorn and daughter of Princess Luna and Star Swirl the Bearded!" She said proudly as she ran into the warm embrace of her true mother who wraped her wings around her long lost daughter.
"Oh Twilight. I thought I had lost you. Celestia told me you had died." Luna said as tears of joy rolled down her face at being reunited with her daughter.
"No she just striped me of my wings and memories." Twilight said also crying. "I wanted to tell you the moment I remembered but I didn't know how to contact you with out alerting Celestia."
"'Tis ok. We are safe from her lies here." Luna said snugling her daughter. "OH MOST WONDERFUL OF NIGHTS! THIS NIGHT WE SHALL REVEAL YOU TO OUR SUBJECTS AND YOU SHALL BE A PRINCESS OF EQUESTRIA ONCE MORE!" She boomed in her royal Canterlot voice.
"Are you ok?" Twilight asked her mother.
"OF COURSE!" The elder princess stated.
"Well, you kinda sound like you're yelling." The alicorn turned unicorn said.
"But this is the traditional royal Canterlot voice! It is tradition to speak using the royal "we", and to use THIS MUCH VOLUME WHEN ADDRESSING SUBJECTS!" Luna explained.
"You know, that might explain why your appearance was met with... mixed results." Twilight said trying to word it nicely. "I think if you just changed your approach a bit, you might be met with a warmer reception."
"CHANGE OUR APPROACH?" Luna asked still using the royal Canterlot voice.
"Lower the volume?"
"Ohhh. We have been locked away for a thousand years. We are... not sure we can." Luna said unsurely.
"Don't worry I'm sure my friends would be happy to help you out." Twilight said happily as she began to lead her mother out of the forest. "Also I think we should keep our relation ship a secret untill we can find away to return me to my proper alicorn form."
"We agree. Should Celestia find out she would most likely try to sperate us once again." Luna said nodding.
