“It’s beautiful darling, you’re going to love it!”  Rarity gasped as she followed Twilight to the mailbox.  She was talking about the dress Twilight would wear to the the meeting with all of princesses.  “Thank you Rarity, I don’t know what I would do without you.” Twilight gave Rarity a hug, they had been bonding over the past few weeks.  Twilight opens the mailbox, and is surprised to see a letter inside with fancy red lettering.  She opens the letter and begins to read. Rarity stands by her side to patiently await the news.

“Dear Twilight Sparkle, I am afraid to inform you about the death of Sapphire Bloom. She passed in a freak lab accident, she had a lot on her hooves.  I am very sorry, I know you two were close.  Please write me back as soon as possible, Twilight.”

-Sincerely, Her mother.

Her best friend in the world, gone.  “Twilight, are you ok dear?”  Rarity trots over to see Twilight’s face better.  “I’m fine, I-I have to go.” Twilight bolted to the woods, she doesn’t even look at Rarity.  She didn’t even get to say goodbye to Sapphire, who was one of her closest friends.  Twilight clutched the letter with her hoof, and remembered all the good times she had with Sapphire.  She went home to her castle, and went to her room and wept, knowing that this tragedy would dominate her life.  The thought of this was just too much to bear. Have you ever lost the love of you're life?

Rarity had to do something, this was Twilight she was talking about.  But what happened?  She couldn’t help unless she knew, neither could the other ponies.  She decided she wasn’t going to tell anybody until she figured out what was wrong.  The letter.  That’s what made Twilight upset, she would have to sneak in a steal it!  She then goes to the castle to start plotting on how she was going to steal the letter, she also decides to give Twilight some time to come out.  So Rarity will wait till the next day to steal the letter, and to break in (if you want to call it that).

Twilight missed her friend dearly, after all it was more than her friend.  Sapphire Bloom was Twilight’s wife, they had been married before she met her new friends is Ponyville.  She didn’t want to tell anypony, because she seemed more responsible single.  But those weeks where she was alone “Relaxing” was when Sapphire was there visiting, Spike knew but he never told.  Right now Spike was in a dragon retreat, so she had no pony to talk to, she would talk to Rarity.  But she didn't think she could bear reopening the wounds.  She sat there, writing a letter to Rarity.  Slowly staining the delicate paper with salty tears.

Rarity pushes on the door, it was the next day, it was already noon and no sign of her.  Rarity walks down the hallway, and up the stairs to Twilight’s bedroom.  Twilight has her back to the door sitting on the bed, and the letter lay right behind.  Rarity uses her magic to pick up the letter and bring it through the crack of the door.  She then gallops away, down the stairs, up the hall, and through the door.  She runs a little more to get some distance between them. She then stops by an old oak tree to lean against, and to get protection from the sun.  She opens the letter and begins to read.  The letter was covered in wet spots all over, Twilight's tears.

“Dear Rarity,  I knew you were coming to steal the letter, you are very predictable.  But I will tell you why I am so upset.  The letter you watched me open contained very sad news, news about my best friend passing.  She wasn’t just my best friend, she was my wife.  We had been married before I met you, and I was about to tell you too.  She helped me with my lab experiments, and was there for me when I was alone.  I can’t live without her, so I guess this is goodbye.  I am leaving this place to be joined with my beloved, I have already locked all the doors and windows so you can’t get in and stop me.  Goodbye, Rarity”

-Sincerely, Twilight.

No, no, no.  This can’t be happening.  By the time Rarity could get help it would be too late, she runs to the castle and beats on the door.  “TWILIGHT! YOU CAN’T DO THIS! THERE ARE OTHER WAYS YOU CAN DEAL WITH THIS!” Rarity runs around the castle checking every door and window.  They are all locked, she then hears one big “click”.  She runs inside, up the Twilight’s room.  Twilight lay there, dying.  There was no time to get help, so she sat there and watched her friend die.  The tears were flowing from her eyes, as the last ember of life faded away from Twilight's. She passed with a peaceful smile, upon her was Rarity weeping. "Why?" was the only question she could ask.

When Rarity went to leave she saw the mailman trot away from Twilight’s mailbox, Rarity goes to check it.  There is letter inside, the same as the last one Twilight opened.  Rarity fought back the tears as she opened it, knowing that the tears would soon win the fight.  She almost didn't want to read the letter, she wanted to bolt home and hide away.  She pushed through, and opened the letter with shaking hooves.

“Dear Twilight, I am not dead.  I just went into a brief coma caused by the explosion, and woke up after my mother sent the letter the day before, I am sorry if I caused you any grief.  I will be there next Monday, I love you! Oh! Don't forget our three year anniversary!

-Love, Sapphire.
