Chapter 2

The carriage rolled along slowly and quite bumpy. The carriage was dark, with one small window at the front. Fluttershy squeaked after every bump and noise, followed by a quick chuckle by Rainbow Dash.

“So I think I may have missed it but, Twilight darling, where are we going?”, Rarity said, while trying to look out the small window.

“We are going to Canterlot for a brunch, but for whom, I’m not so sure”, Twilight whispered while scratching her head with her hoof. Rarity looked unamused by the excuse. Though there was little lighting, Twilight could tell that she would need to come up with a better answer than that to please Rarity.

“His name is C.H.”, Twilight croaked, grabbing the attention of every filly in the carriage. “I’m not sure what it stands for, but he was the one who sent me this book.” Twilight looked down at the book; it was masked in the shadows, giving it no visible outline.

“Book, huh? Is it like Daring Do?” Rainbow perked up. She snagged the book from Twilight and grabbed Rarity’s horn repeating the words “Come on, make light!”. Rarity’s horn lit up the carriage. It was old and dusty, with a very medieval style of decorations inside.

Rainbow Dash read the cover to the book. “The Elements of Harmony: A True Journey”. Twilight’s jaw dropped.

“There was no title on it a moment ago!”, she squealed, reaching back for the book. “Maybe you’re just going blind”, Rainbow chuckled. Rainbow flipped through the pages with a bored look on her face. “What kinda book is this? It only has one page with writing… I think this C.H. guy ripped you off”, Rainbow barked as she threw the book at Twilight.

“Be careful with that!”, Twilight squealed. She opened the book and dragged Rarity close to her. “It’s written in lyrics”, she said quietly. The scripture was the same as that in the letter; jagged, yet elegant.

Alas, our adventure begins

A story of hell

Fillies riddled with sin

As they make their way

To a Canterlot event

A young reliable friend

To my heart he is sent

Beware of the foal with deceiving Eyes

For he is the only one you will not realize

He is on his way

To find you fillies

But beware my Twilight

He is not just silly

The Foal

The Foal

The Foal

Twilight examined the book closely, trying to understand just what the lyrics were telling her. Though it was so blatantly obvious in the text, Twilight could not decipher the scripture’s meaning. It was not testing her intelligence, but it put her mind to a trance, as if putting her under a spell. The book created the sense of déjà vu to irritate the prodigy grade filly, giving her the feeling that she knows what it means without being able to truly understand it. The other fillies stared at Twilight in confusion as she hoofed at the book, trying to grasp the concept of what significance it had.
