Snow gently blew through the cool winter air and the black sky shined with the beauty of the stars above, huge snow drifts covered the train tracks which provided very little problem for the speeding friendship express. The tiny train made it's way down the track blasting through the huge piles of snow while at the same time blaring it's loud whistle. The trains cabins were filled with ponies who were returning home from Canterlot where most of them had seen the Hearth's Warming Pageant in one of the cabins was a small family of five which consisted of three fillies a unicorn named Cinnamon Drop, an earth pony named Sweet Pea and a younger Pegasus pony named Poinsettia. Amongst the three fillies were their parents the father being an earth pony and the mother being a unicorn. Shamrock Clover let out a low yawn as he brushed his hoof through the single orange stripe that sat in center of his bright white mane he then sat up in his seat in hopes of locating his small family which really didn't take long at all. In the seat across from him was his beautiful wife Sunset Shimmer who was holding their youngest daughter Poinsettia in her hooves it filled Shamrock's heart with warmth as he watched both his wife and daughter sleep in peace. As Shamrock watched the two ponies sleep he started to hear a small sound which almost resembled the coo of a dove. Shamrock ears perked as he turned his head to the left of his wife where he saw his middle daughter Sweet Pea sleeping soundly with her head resting against her mothers flank. After locating his wife, Sweet Pea and Poinsettia the only question that needed answering was where is Cinnamon Drop? Just as he was finishing that last thought of his he felt a sudden tap on his shoulder. Shamrock turned and noticed the unicorn filly sitting beside him with her eyes looking directly into his. Shamrock gave the filly a small smile but not before rubbing his hoof through her red and white mane.
"What's on your mind kiddo?" Shamrock asked.
"Daddy, what are we doing for our Hearth's Warming eve?" Cinnamon Drop asked with concern in her eyes.
"I'm not sure what were doing yet." He replied.
"Why do you ask?" He asked the little unicorn.
"Well we don't even have a tree yet." Cinnamon Drop stated.Shamrock gave a small chuckle before wrapping his hoof around the filly and pulling her in close to him, he then gave a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Well tomorrow night your mother and I are going gift shopping, so how's about we get a tree before then that way you girls can decorate it while were gone." He suggested. Cinnamon Drops eyes lit up with excitement as she wrapped her tiny hooves around her father hugging him tightly and kissing him on the cheek.
"Really you mean it daddy?!" She cheered.
"Yea, you me and your sisters we'll go out and get a tree tomorrow afternoon." He added.
"Awww....daddy, squirt and pipsqueak do they half to come with us?" Cinnamon Drop whined.
"Hey! what have I told you about calling your sisters those names?!" Shamrock scolded.
"Uhh...to not too." Cinnamon Drop replied slowly rolling her eyes.
"That's my girl.....uh er....my eldest girl." Shamrock chuckled messing Cinnamon Drop's mane once more. The train quietly pulled up into the Ponyville train station and every pony who was on board began to pile out. Sunset Shimmer trotted through the trains door as she carried little Poinsettia on her back once she stepped off the platform Shamrock closely followed behind carrying both Cinnamon Drop and Sweet Pea on his own back. Sunset Shimmer gazed at the falling snow that surrounded her.
"Oh, my It's just so beautiful isn't it?" She said turning her head towards Shamrock. Shamrock looked over at his wife and grabbed her by her hoof.
"Not nearly as beautiful as you." Shamrock said with a loving gaze.
"Oh Shamrock, that's so sweet." Sunset replied as her cheeks turned to a light shade of pink. Sunset leaned in to her loving husband hoping to give him a kiss on the lips but they were interrupted by the sounds of three little fillies yawning at the same time.
"Awe, that's so cute." Sunset whispered to Shamrock.
"Yea, we should get these girls home and into bed." Shamrock suggested. Sunset Shimmer nodded her head in agreement and the two began to make the long walk home. The two had walked for about 30 or 40 minuets before finally reaching their home which sat on the outskirts of Ponyville right next to the winsome woods. It was small two story wooden cabin that had a somewhat warm and cozy feel to it. The very moment they steeped into the doorway Sunset Shimmer let out another low yawn.
"Wow I'm just wore out." She said quietly.
"I'm going to put this one to bed and take a quick shower before bed." She added.
"Okay, you do that and I'll put these two to bed." Shamrock stated looking back at the sleeping earth pony and unicorn that rested on his back. In that moment a sudden thought came over him as he lovingly gazed up and down his wife's figure.
"Would you like me to join you in that shower?" He asked. A small blush appeared on Sunsets face before returning Shamrock's question with a small kiss on his lips.
"While that does sound fun and even though I would love to give you an early Hearth's Warming gift.....it's just I'm very tired and I really want to go to bed." Sunset explained as best as she could hoping that she hadn't hurt Shamrock's feelings. Shamrock gave a small chuckle before giving her a response.
"I agree it's been a long night." The stallion said as a smile stretched across his face. With that being said both ponies trotted upstairs only to go their separate ways. Shamrock mad his way into the twin's room but not wanting to take the risk of waking them up he attempted to walk through the room in the dark stepping over all kinds of toys that sat in front of him .
"Easy, easy does it now." Shamrock whispered to himself. Suddenly a loud squeal screech released itself from under his hoof making Shamrock's eyes grow to the size of dinner plates.
"Crap!" He muttered to himself looking back at the two fillies who surprisingly remained a sleep.
"Hmm....heavy sleepers." Shamrock said with a hushed tone. Finally reaching Cinnamon Drops bed Shamrock picked up the small unicorn and gently placed her down he then pulled her blanket over her and placed a small kiss on her forehead.
"Goodnight sweetie." He whispered.Next was Sweet Pea and Shamrock searched all around the room making sure that their was nothing else for him to step on and once he saw that the path was clear he made a b-line for her bed. Just like Cinnamon Drop earlier Shamrock picked up Sweet Pea and gently placed her into the small bed, wrapped her blanket around her and kissed her goodnight. Shamrock walked out of the room quietly closing the door behind him. Looking down the hallway Shamrock noticed a small blue glow coming from Poinsettia's room wondering where it could be coming from he decided to check it out where he was greeted by the warmest of sights. Their she was his wife the mare he had fallen in love with many years ago sitting in the corner of the room in a rocking chair and in her hooves was the little Pegasus who was slowly falling a sleep to her mother's singing . After witnessing such a beautiful thing Shamrock quietly backed away and gently closed the door.With Sunset Shimmer taking her shower and the girls tucked in Shamrock sat up in bed and continued to look over the girls lists of Hearth's Warming gifts while at the same time trying to think of something for his wife he would normally do this for a couple of hours before bed but he was cut short when Sunset trotted into the room.
"What are you looking at dear?" She asked climbing into the bed and sitting next to him.
"Just trying to figure the girls lists." Shamrock replied.
"By the way I saw you singing to Poinsettia earlier and....I...I had no idea that you had such a beautiful singing voice." He added placing a hoof over hers.Sunset blushed.
"Oh, y-you heard that? I mean it's nothing really my mother used to sing me the same thing when I was younger." She explained.
"I mean I know that poinsettia isn't a baby anymore but we still share a bond with each other....I don't know I guess that sounds kind of silly." She added.
"I don't think that sounds silly at all." Shamrock replied.
"It actually sounds pretty cute." He added making her cheeks turn to a darker shade of crimson.
"She's the only baby we have who isn't growing up too fast, well that and the fact that's she's just too adorable to ignore." He added.
"Well she gets that from you." Sunset giggled. Shamrock returned her giggle with a loving peck on the cheek and just before they went to bed that was when Shamrock decided to ask her about any gift Ideas that she might have.
"Hey honey, do you have any idea what you may want for Hearth's Warming this year?" Shamrock asked. Sunset placed a hoof under her chin and stared off into space before finally giving him an answer but sadly the answer she gave didn't really help him at all it only confused him more.
"You don't half to get me anything...please lets just focus on the girls right now." Sunset suggested before turning off her bedside light and pulling herself under the blankets.
"R-right the g-girls." Shamrock said turning off a lamp of his own. As both ponies snuggled into bed Shamrock placed his hoof around Sunset Shimmer and pulled her into a warm embrace Sunset let out a small chuckle before turning her head and capturing Shamrock's lips into her own. The two stayed like that for what seemed like hours before finally breaking the kiss. Shamrock sat their in the middle of the night trying to think of a gift for his loving wife when and idea popped into his head, the girls I'll ask the girls what they know maybe she told one of them. While the Shimmer/Clover family slept they were unaware that some pony else was having a similar problem buying a gift and little did they know that their paths would soon cross one another.

StarHeart purged through the icy snow, it enveloped her until she reached inside of the pony market. She shuffled the snow of her coat and scarf along with her saddle bag, and using her levitation, took out her yellow and purple wallet.
"One gift, just one. At least that's what he said." She thought to herself. She walked through the store aimlessly. Finally she reached the "Good X-Mas Gifts for Stallions" Section. Inside it lied weights and a great deal of fashionable tear. Although NightSpark (her special somepony) was very rivalry, and had a suitable taste in fashion, neither suited him. StarHeart was a great writer, but it was when NightSpark heard she needed an artist with her book, he was happy to help. While sharing common ground, NightSpark found out, over time, he'd fallen in love for the mare. And he was ashamed of this. He was but a poor artist, and she was a famous popular writer. Little did he know, she liked him as well, when the book was published, and billions of reporters surrounded her, forcing NightSpark out of the crowd, she said without hesitation,
"My book was originally inspired by many things...but one pony pony, one stallion, opened many thoughts, many doors that expanded my imagination, expanded my book. I thank him deeply, he did the art for my book, so thank you, NightSpark!" He blushed so intensely, he thought the words would end. But it didn't.
"So I have a very important question." He raised an eyes brow, and reporters flashed their cameras as StarHeart walked up to him.
"Will you be my special pony?" The reporters gasped, scribbling words onto their small notepads. Many years later, they were married, and StarHeart wasn't only a famous writer, but a popular singer. NightSpark also had become a famous artist, writing songs for his wife and making pictures beautiful as ever. A year later. they had a daughter named MoonShine QuillSong. StarHeart had a long named so she wished the same for her daughter. Back to the present, StarHeart WaveSong and NightSpark had spent all their time and money on Gifts for moonshine, but now, it was only five days till' Hearth's Warming Eve, and StarHeart hadn't gotten anything for her dear husband.
"What a great wife I am," She mumbled, turning around, then immediately gasping. It. Was. Perfect. A pitch black suitcase,(that wasn't actually a suitcase it was an art kit, a very professional art kit) with small gems incrusted into it's leather in the shape of a blue moon. It was supposed to be for New Lunar's Eve, but she could make do, at least she could until she got sight of the price.
"That's outrageous! I thought this would be it, but no!" She screamed, her horn sparking a bit.
"Eighty-four dollars, and thirty-nine cents!" She huffed marching away, shoving the wallet back into her saddlebag forcefully. She only had sixty-two dollars and twenty-five cents, and she had been hoping not being able to spend it all. Being so frustrated, StarHeart didn't seem to see the stallion, who was waving a pink slip around in the air. She crashed into him, growling.
"Hey watch where you're-" He turned around, his face with worry.
"I'm sorry! I didn't see you there, I just turned for a second, and the papers-" Many of Pink parchments flew in the air, resting onto the ground. One flew onto StarHeart's muzzle, and she lifted it into the air with her blue magic. She inspected the words carefully before gasping with a wide smile.
"Thirty dollars?!" she whispered under her breath, but the green earth pony heard her.

"Yep, for three hours, why? Are you looking into it?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. She nodded with glee.
"Yes, I only need twenty-two dollars and fourteen cents to buy a present for my husband! When should I be there?" She added, her smile widening.
"Around five, maybe six." He replied, smiling back, he handed her a pink slip which had the address and the time.
"Guess I didn't have to tell you.." He scoffed, looking down at the parchment. His wife had written all of them, and had told him to go out and see what ponies would say, at around three, he would come back and tell if he'd gotten a foalsitter for the girls. It was two- fifty. StarHeart chuckled weakly, she gripped the paper and shoved it in her saddlebag.
"See you tonight, uh, Shamrock, Clover." She said reading the paper off slowly, then trotting away. She didn't see it, but Shamrock leaped in the air and gave a loud,
'YES!" HE cleared his throat, and fell back down, and started to gather back all the papers into his saddlebag and walked back out into the snow all the way across town to tell his beautiful wife, he had found one.

StarHeart slammed the door open to her cottage, it was to be the most beautiful house she thought at least, there was bits and pieces of cloud on the walls, but none on the floor, for StarHeart was a unicorn. She smiled, droplets of snow flailing into the doorway, and into the house. A dark blue pegasus with magenta and silver mane, dropped his sketch pad onto the table, and rushed behind the mare closing the door shut.
"Hon, ya know I love you, but, when it's winter, it means it's cold mostly." He said, keeping his front hooves on the door. A surprised expression ran across StarHeart's face.
"Oh, yeah." She blushed.
"Mom!" A small turquoise unicorn filly with purple, blue, and a light silver with bright blue eyes, ran up to her.
"Hello my darling!" StarHeart said, patting the filly's head. She looked over to her husband, who sighing was still holding the door.
"Honey, I won't be here tomorrow." She told him.
"Why?" The stallion and filly asked at the same time. She chuckled, floating her saddlebags over to a couch using her magic. She sighed and looked over to the two and smiled softly.
"I'll be foalsitting."

As the long day continued Shamrock and his daughters were in the middle of visiting their fifth tree lot. Shamrock clover trotted through the entry wearing nothing more than a stocking hat and a red scarf. Meanwhile behind him walked the three little fillies all wearing their own little stocking hats and coats.
"Daddy what makes you think that their going to have a tree here?" Sweet Pea asked in mild frustration.
"Because its the last one in town, squirt!" Cinnamon Drop stated as she rolled her eyes. Sweet Pea gave a quick glare to her older sister before giving her a shove.
"Hey don't call me that you loser!" Sweet Pea replied.
"Your both losers to me!" Poinsettia interjected.
"Don't listen to her she's always been mommies favorite!" Cinnamon Drop stated.
"Yea stay out of this pipsqueak!" Sweet Pea added.
"I told you not to call me that!" And with that sentence being said Poinsettia leaped onto her two older sisters and in an instant the fight was on. A huge cloud of snow erupted in the middle of the tree lot which caused a huge scene amongst the other shoppers. The girls rolled through the lot before finally coming to a stop at Shamrocks hooves.
"Now girls if you don't stop this fighting we'll turn around and go home, and we wont even worry about a tree!" Shamrock yelled in a hushed tone so that the girls could hear him.
"Yes daddy." The three fillies said simultaneously. After finding and paying for the perfect tree Shamrock loaded it into the wagon that was waiting outside the lot. Once the tree and the fillies were safely aboard they began to make the long trek home. With the fillies sitting and playing their games in the back a thought had made itself know to the young stallion.
"Hey girls you wouldn't happen to know what your mother wants for Hearth's Warming do you?" He asked hoping to get a straight answer from his daughters. He figured getting a straight answer out of those three was like telling Rainbow Dash that winning didn't matter, it wasn't possible finally the youngest filly Poinsettia gave him the answer that he'd been wanting.
"Mommy said that you two have a night out would be nice." She said in a clam and quiet voice.
"Really! That's what she wants?" Shamrock questioned.
"Daddy you Mommy don't need a night out." Sweet Pea stated.
"Why is that?" He asked.
"Because every time you and mommy go out another baby is being born." Cinnamon Drop answered in a blunt tone. Shamrock's face turned to a bright shade of pink before as he tried to think of a come back.
"That is not true!" He stated.
"Oh, yea, the last time you two went out this one was born." Sweet Pea said pointing a hoof towards Poinsettia. Ignoring the comment Shamrock began to pick up speed.
"Daddy why are you galloping?" She asked as she tried to hang on to the side of the wagon. Shamrock just smiled and looked back at the girls. "Hold on girls we've got some work to do." He said with a smile.
"What are we doing?" Cinnamon Drop asked.
"Were giving your mother her present, she deserves a nice night out." Shamrock replied. Sweet Pea rolled her eyes and shared a glance with her two sisters.
"Five bits says we get a new little sister next year." She said with a sarcastic tone.
"I'm going to say baby brother." Cinnamon added.
"I hope its another Pegasus." Poinsettia added. The three fillies shared in a hardy laugh as they and their father made the long way back home.

The walk home took almost longer than it did the ride there. The stallion knew this was so, because one, his daughters had been teasing him about the dating and foals but two, mostly he was thinking of what to where. Shamrock rolled his eyes and gave a small chuckle after hearing all of his daughters' gossip and finally reaching home.
"Sunset, we're back!" He hollered throughout the house, no response. He trotted inside his room, he heard a slight humming come from inside the bathroom, he knew it was her. He opened the closet, picking out a black tux, with a blue tie. He walked back out into the living room, seeing the girls playing with their dolls. He called his wife again,
"Sunset!" Then finally, she stepped into the room, Shamrock stood stuck in place, his jaw to the floor. His wife wore a beautiful turquoise dress, made of fine lining, her hair was done up neatly, and her glass slippers clicked as she walked in front of her husband.
"It's not too much, is it?" She asked, concerned. Shamrock closed his mouth, then shook his head rapidly. Sunset giggled and started to walk away.
"I'll just get my purse and we'll be on our way." She said. There was a knock at the door, and Shamrock glanced up to the clock, gasping, turning back around, and rushing to the door. He slammed it open with so much force, the pony on the other side gasped and took a few steps backwards before calming down and clearing her throat.
"Hey, remember me? The one-" She started.
"Who's foalsitting for us! Come inside-" Shamrock stated, pausing at the end, realizing he had never caught her name.
"I'm just so cool, to not ask somepony their name before talking them." He thought to himself in a sarcastic tone.
"StarHeart Wavesong. But you can just call me StarHeart." The green unicorn replied.
"Oh. Uh, right, StarHeart, I want you to meet the girls.." He said, pulling StarHeart over to the spot the girls were playing in.
"The eldest is Cinnamon Drop, only by two seconds however." He told, dragging the mare to a green earth pony filly besides Cinnamon Drop.
"This is the second-eldest, Sweet Pea."
"And finally.." Shamrock began,
"ME!" Poinsettia shouted. She flapped her wings, zipping across the floor slowly up to the mare. StarHeart gave a worried fake smile, introducing herself.
"Hi I'm StarHeart..." She mumbled loudly enough for the foal to hear.
"And you already know my name!" The filly yelled, bouncing away.
"No I don't..." StarHeart said, confused. Poinsettia gasped.
"You don't!?" She screamed at StarHeart's face.
"She doesn't!?" She continued, but now looking at her dad. She rolled her eyes and went back onto playing with her siblings.
"Poinsettia." Shamrock finally said.
"Well, if you have any problems..." He began once more, seeing his wife trotting out the room, holding her purse.
"It took me forever to find it but-" Sunset stopped, looking up to StarHeart.
"Who's this?" She asked, curiously.
"Oh, this is the foalsitter!" Shamrock answered, StarHeart shyly waved her hoof to the mare.
"Oh! Really! Nice to meet you!" Sunset Shimmer said.
"I'll be outside." She continued, walking away.
"As I was saying any problems, you have our contact information." He said walking towards the door.
"But-" StarHeart began.
"Bye! Oh, and, good luck." He told her, slamming the door.
"Whoohoo! No parents in the house! Whoop Whoop!" Cinnamon Drop screamed, beginning to jump on the couch. Sweet Pea, just walked to a room, by herself, coming back with a music box, turning it on, and almost blasting StarHeart's ears out. Poinsettia rushed to the kitchen, pulling out the cookie jar and began to munch away. StarHeart frowned and gulped. She thought to herself silently,
"What have I gotten myself into?"
