//-------------------------------------------------------// The Story of Me, Shadow Wings -by Commander Shadow Wings- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Early Years //-------------------------------------------------------// The Early Years On the evening of a warm summer day, a filly by the name of Shadow Wings was born in Cloudsdale Hospital. Her mother, Azure Wings, and her father, Lightning Flash, were the two proud parents. A pretty basic family, 2 older brothers, and her. But that would change further down the road. Years later, I was living in a full house. 3 brothers, 2 sisters and me. My two little sisters were twins, and troublemakers. Magenta Flash and Violet Wings were nearly identical, the only difference was their eyes. Just as their names depicted, their eyes were the same as their names. My younger brother was the really smart one. Flash Flood was a perfect student, and only a grade below me in flight school. My oldest brother was the typical, popular, mare-attraction. By the name of Crimson Flash, he was just that. The second eldest, was my best friend. Probably the most like me, personality and all. Blizzard Wind was stubborn, fun, and confident just like I was. Our age difference was only 2 years, not too bad. (Shadow Wings, 8 years old) "MOM! Why do I have to bring him to school?" I pouted while slinging my school bag over my shoulder in annoyance. She rolled her eyes and dragged my younger brother away from his massive pile of books. "Shadow, you know that you are the most trustworthy of your siblings! Blizzard has Crimson to take care of, and you know how he can be. Plus, you and Flash go to the same school building. I promise, you'll only have to do this for a couple months," she said hastily while pushing my elder siblings out the door. "Go! Go! Go! You're going to be late!" I was pushed out the door with my brothers in tow, while my mother went back to care for the twins. Father wouldn't be back from work until dismissal at school, where he would pick us up. "Come on Flash," I grumbled and dragged my brother along. "This is your stop. Bye," I dropped my brother off at the door of his classroom. Before he could say anything, I cantered into the densely packed crowd of groggy students dragging themselves to class. I squeezed through narrowly, avoiding as many bumps as possible. Then my eyes landed on just the filly I was looking for. "Ember!" I called and darted towards my friend. She braced herself as I tackled her into a hug. In mid air, we laughed noisily, making passerby look at us. Even the ones we didn't want to see... "Hey, Candy Corn! Shadow FAIL!" I scowled. "What are you losers doing here? I thought you left Cloudsdale? Aw, that's too bad," Solar Dasher and his crew howled in laughter, making me stomp onto the ground in rage. They were older, and taller, but much dumber. "Solar Dasher? Is that you? I thought you died! Read it in the news," he looked dumbfounded, his smirk now vanished. "Yeah, headline was 'Plot wipes: discontinued'." "Ya think you're funny Shadow FAIL? You have no right to be insulting us, with the way you fly," one of his 'friends' jabbed in. "OH! Oh my! Crystal Flutter?! My goodness, you've gotten old! Even makeup can't fix that, Hun," I sneered. Crystal Flutter had always been about vanity and perfection. I wonder how hard that hit... "UGH! How dare you, you little twat!" Crystal shrieked with tears now brimming in her eyes. She stepped forward menacingly. "I ought to-" BRRRIINNNGGG! Praise that school bell. "Bye, sucker!" Ember remarked and blew a raspberry at them. I snickered and charged into my classroom. "Now, what is 45 x 2?" Miss Mist Chaser blabbered on, her usual chirpy voice was as present as ever. Nonetheless, I was nearly falling asleep in the back of the classroom. My bright blue eyes drifted over to the desks beside me. A turquoise colt was waving his hoof in the air vigorously. "Shadow Wings," my ears stood up instantly, my eyes widening along with them. "Uh..." was all that emitted from my lips. "Psst!" I looked to the side, noticing the small slip of paper under Ember's foreleg. The small bit that hung out had '90' written in black marker. I looked back forward and faced my teacher. "N-ninety?" I stuttered and squeezed my eyes shut. "Correct! Very well done!" Miss Mist Chaser praised with a big smile . I exhaled sharply and sank into my chair. Ember crumpled up the paper and shoved it into her folder, glancing over at me with a wink. I smiled back at her and nodded my head. Done!!! Time to fly! I burst out the door to the the exit of the school, Ember in tow. We burst into the fresh air, allowing the cool breeze to overcome the stuffy air of the school. My father was waiting outside, as usual. I bid Ember goodbye and charged towards the dark blue stallion. "DAD!" I shouted and zoomed to his side. We hoof-bumped and hugged, making me laugh. This tradition was one of my most favorite things ever. "Hey, Shade! How's my girl?" he said and smiled coolly. "Awesome! Hey dad, can we go flying today?" I asked and fluttered my wings rapidly. I was already a good flyer, one of the best in my grade, but my dad was awesome! Plus, he was training with the Wonderbolts! My favorite flight team in all of Equestria! "Ahh. Alright! But..." he trailed off. My eyes widened making me pause in my tracks. "We have to try this really awesome group formation. Do you mind if Crimson and Blizzard join us?" "Oh that would be so cool! That's totally fine if they join! Can mom come?" I questioned. "We'll see. She does have Magenta and Violet to take care of. But you know her," he said with a smirk. "YEAH!" I shouted and shot up into the air, doing a victory dance.
