Dreams are calling, like bells in the distance. We were dreamers, not so long ago. But one by one we, all had to grow up. When it seems the magic slipped away, we find it all again on Christmas Day. Believe in what your heart is saying, hear the melody that's playing, there's no time to waste, there's so much to Celebrate. Believe in what you feel inside, and give your dreams the wings to fly. You have everything you need, if you just believe! __________________________________________ I lie in my bed on Christmas Eve, staring at my bedroom ceiling. The only noise I can hear is the sound of my Brother's light breathing. I glance at my clock that reads 11:37. I should be asleep...but I'm waiting for something... Something that I've never heard...The Bells of Santa's Sleigh. I'm unsure how long I'll have to wait, but I'm suddenly startled by the sound of gentle foot falls slightly getting louder as it approaches our door. I close my eyes and toss to my side just before the door opens. My parents enter to check on us both. "It looks like they're both asleep..." I hear my Father whisper. "Surprising..." My Mother replies."I thought they might stay awake to try and see Santa..." "I wonder how much longer it will be before they realize..." My Father says. "Shh! The Children might hear you!" My Mother whispers harshly. Realize what? What is he talking about? "They are asleep, and there's no waking them..." My Father reassured. "Spike slept through smoke alarms once, and you have to shake Twilight like an earthquake to get her to wake up..." Oh Dad, if you only knew... "I just don't know how long we can keep this up Velvet..." My Father continued. "I mean, Shinning Armor figured it out at nine-and-a-half, and Twilight's ten! I don't know how much longer we can keep telling them that Santa's real." What are you talking about Dad?! "We'll discuss this later, but for now, let the children sleep!" My Mother says. She gently kisses me on the forehead. "Merry Christmas sweety." With that my parents leave the room, closing the door gently behind them. The words of my Father ring through my head..."I don't know how much longer we can keep telling them that Santa's real." I don't understand...Santa is real...right? There's no way our parents have been lying to us...And there's NO way that Shinning Armor could be lying to us...Right? I...might have just misunderstood. How? I don't know...but, I refuse to except the possible fact that my parents and brother have been lying to us! I toss onto my back again and stare at the ceiling. I glance at my clock again... I'm about to give up, my eyelids start to fall. The ticking of my clock is suddenly silenced and I open my eyes. The hands on my clock are no longer moving. What the-? I hear something shaking and I sit up in my bed. Looking around, I spot Spike's S.R. 71 Blackbird plane toy shaking heavily on it's strings. My clock suddenly starts shaking and jumping around, and my bed shakes. What is this, an earthquake?! Spike stirs and awakes. His head whips round and then faces me. "Twilight, what's going on?!" He asks in alarm. "I don't know!" Suddenly we are forced to cover our ears as a loud train whistle sounds from out of no where! Square-shaped lights dance across our room at a steadily slowing pace. The cig-chug sounds of an engine slowed from its quick movement. I jump from my bed, throwing the covers off of my body. I put on my robe and throw on my slippers, helping Spike do the same. Quickly but quietly, he and I make our way to the front door, leaving the safe sanctuary of our home. We stand in awe as we gaze at the impossible wonder before us... Standing in our front yard, wrapped in a large but strangely welcoming blanket of white steam and snow, was a black steam engine! I gripped Spike's smaller hand as we slowly walked to the front of the train. On the Coal Car in golden words, was engraved 'The Polar Express'. "What is this?" Spike asked. "I'm not sure..." I reply. "Aaaaallll aboard!!" A startling voice exclaims. I whirl around, to see a figure, slowly reveled by the steam and snow. Dumbfounded, I point to my self. "Me?" In a 'duh?' mentality, the man yells again:"Aaaalll aboard!" With Spike fearfully glued to my side, I cautiously walk up to the man. He wore a blue suit with black shoes. Glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, and a blue cap on his head, with the word 'Conductor' sewn in gold. "Well?" The man says. "What?" I ask. "Are you two coming?" He asks "Where?" "Why to the North Pole of course!" The man exclaims. "This is the Polar Express!" We gestures to the train with his arms. Spikes eyes grow wide and I stand dumbfounded. "Are you coming?" He asked again. Spike nods and starts to let go of me, but I grab his hand. I'm unsure of what is going on, I mean... THERE'S A STINKING TRAIN IN OUR FRONT YARD!!! Spike looked at me and I just shook my head. He frowned. I hated disappointing him, but I just decided that we probably shouldn't. I looked at the Conductor who was just closing his pocket watch. I shook my head. "Suit your self..." The Conductor said. He waved at the engine which whistled loudly in response. He watched us as he jumped on the train. The cig-chug of the engine started sounding as the pace of the train increased. I watched the lights of the windows dance across the snow and ice. I blinked and found that Spike was no longer next to me. Looking around, I saw home running after the train! "Spike!" I call, beginning to chase him. He doesn't stop though, in fact, I think he sped up! "Spike! Get back here!" I command. But he still doesn't stop. I see the Conductor appear not far ahead of Spike. With a small burst of speed, Spike grasped the Conductor's outstretched hand. With the train slowly gaining speed, I found it more and more difficult to catch up. I get closer to the train in hope of grabbing one of the passing bars. Successful, I begin to pull myself onto the train, but my foot slips! Suddenly a hand grabs mine and pulls me aboard. I look up to find the Conductor. I smile. "Thank you, Sir!" "You are welcome young lady!" He replies. Looking down, I see Spike beside him. Spike smiles at me. "Come on!" He says, taking my hand and draging me into the train car. Inside are other kids like us, singing and playing. I look over to see Spike siting in one of the seats, patting the space next to him. Grinning, I sit down next to him. He looks at me with curiosity in his eyes. "Do you really think that we're going to the North Pole?" He asks. I shrug. "I don't know, I guess we'll find out!"
