A Roommate To Roommate Talk
Ponyville Library
The Survivor had thought after thought cross his mind. 'What do I say? How should I say it?...come on! Think you glorified fossil, there has to be at least ONE thing we have in co- ooohhhh yeah...there's always that.' Sole suddenly realized that there is something that they both had in common. A certain action that was a part of them sence they first left their respective vaults.
"How many?" Asked Sole as he pulled out a few tools he had handy on him.
"Umm....how many what?" Wanderer asked.
"How many things have you killed? You can tell me, it seems to be a thing we both have In common." Sole started to tweek the mechanisms on his minigun.
"That's a pretty big assumption to make about me, but on the off chance your right...how did you know?" The Wandderer said while leanings in, a questioning look on his face.
"It's not an assumption, I can tell. You gut the same look in your eyes that I did when I first started my long career of a soldier. You start questioning things, like yourself. Instead of aiming at your enemies you start contemplating the thought of putting that barrel to your head, but you can't. You have something...something to look forward to coming back to." The Survivor looked down as he remembered his reason for returning home.
"Wait a minute... YOU fought in a war? How, when which one? Your not a ghoul so I don't think you could survive that long and look like this." He moved forward a little in his seat, the awe in his blue eyes being a dead give away. Whoever this Lone Wanderer is, he's still young not very but obviously younger then the Survivor. 'Actually MOST things are younger then me now, besides ghouls. ' the Survivor thought as he turned towards him.
"Hey, were getting off topic here. How. Many." He said while empathizing his question.
"Ok ok...I've killed around 2400 things. All honesty I sort of lost count after a while, but back to my question. How did you fight in a war?" Wanderer had now made his way to the edge of his seat. Itching to hear a story from before the war. It had actually been some time sence he heard any prewar stories from other then a ghoul.
"Well," he said putting down the tool in his hand, "I wasn't born in any wasteland or any vault, I was born before the bombs fell. In that time I have fought in one war. Anchorage."
The Wanderer's eyes became slightly wide in surprise, "I was there!" His voice giving off a slight echo in the room.
The Survivor stopped and gave Wanderer his own questionable look, "oh really, and how's that might I ask?" He crossed his arms over his noticeably thick chest.
"I was walking around near the D.C. ruins and my pipboy picked up a distress signal from some brotherhood outcasts, who had found a stach of weapons and a suit of t-50b armor. They couldn't get in unless they had a pipboy connector, so when I walked in on them holding back some muties at the top of a set of stairs. I helped them out as much I could, and when they saw my pipboy they asked for help."
The Survivor had uncrossed his arms and decided to sit next to the Wanderer, "So wait a minute, what's a brotherhood outcast?" His face in a confused state.
The Wanderer looked at him wondering why he'd never heard of them before,"you haven't ran into them where your from? There all over D.C. and have a few basses of their own. Their pretty much very strict followers of the brotherhood's original code. The beliefs of keeping technology under wraps and protecting us from it."
"Hmm...well continue with your story, I'll ask you more about them later." He stood back up grabbing his tools and going back to fixing his weapon.
The Wanderer cleared his throat, "Well, after asking me for help. I go deep into a underground bunker, and one of them lead me to their commanding officer. He tells me that my pipboy is the key they've been waiting for and tell me that in order to get inside to the casha of tech, I had to complete some training program."
"Doesn't sound to bad, must of been fun." Said the Survivor.
"Unfortunately, there were no safty protocols so if I died in the simulation. I died for real. Needless to say I was a little hesitant, but he managed to convince me. I spent a whole three days in there, forgenetly I was smart enough to tell the difference between the real world and a fucked up simulation. It didn't make a difference though, I still had to fight. Once it was over I climed out and opened the door, taking a few things. The other troops decided to stage a mutiny against the commander and pulled out their weapons. Next thing I knew I'm hidding from lazers and 5mm rounds. I had to fight at least six or seven people in t-45a power armor. When I managed to get out and it seemed the muties had killed the ones up top. I walked all the way back home, and just fell straight on the floor. Wadsworth was so worried he pulled me into my bed and I sleep for a whole day...*sigh* good times."
The Survivor had stopped tinkering with his minigun and just froze with what he heard. This man here had gone through the same hell he had to, but on a totally different scale...this had earned the Lone Wanderer his respect. "It's good to know that you understand what it feels like to be in those kinds of situations. I remember when I was first given a gun...it wasn't that heavy. Took my first life and suddenly... That rifle got a whole lot heavier." He looked down, all these old wounds taking their toll on him.
The Wanderer would of morned but....he didn't want to. He first stepped out into the waste and was shot, stabed, and slightly burned in his first moments. He had no problem killing people, especially those who deserved it. This way of thinking had earned him a rather mixed feeling from people in the Capital Wasteland, some hating him while others loved him. The middle ground was what he called it and this ground supported him very well.
The Survivor shoke his head and looked back at Wanderer, "Anyway...I think I can trust you for now at least. Though I guess we're still gonna be keeping an eye on each other, I don't want you to hurt these ponies here and you don't want me to hurt you so this will do for now." He picked up the minigun and put it back on his power armor.
'Why the hell does he even care about these damn...creatures' the Wanderer thought as he stood up, "hey, what's your deal here anyway? What the hell are you doing protecting them, what do you hope to gain?" He asked suspiciously.
"Well....I wasn't hoping to gain anything. I may have lost my home but their going to send m back. When they do I couldn't help them even if I wanted to, so if I'm to "gain" anything it a ticket back home." He said while he walked over to the stairs, "and I think your room is right across from mine if what Twilight said is true."
The Wanderer was looking down reflecting on what the Survivor said, he also took notice of Dogmeat who had turned onto his back. His toung hanging out while his leg twitched in his sleep.
"Hey," the Wanderer looked up and saw the Survivor standing there halfway up the stairs, "look...these ponies here have never seen any real war. They have something that neither one of our wastelands have....innocence. I hope we can both agree that they don't deserve to go out like our species did." With that the Wanderer watched as he assended up the stairs, leaving him down here alone.
He just stood there, the darkness of the room becoming a little evasive as time pasted. 'He's right....no body, no matter the species should have to suffer the way we did. No one deserves to destroy their selfs like humans did...damn it! How the fuck did he get inside my head like this?!' The Wanderer groaned in announce at his own thoughts as he sat back down. Dogmeat quickly snapped to a upright position, sneezing a few times before looking at the Wanderer. His big brown eyes seemed to talk to the Wanderer as Dogmeat ran up stairs.
'Ok...that was a little weird.' The Wanderer just sat back then a rumble from his stomach reminded him of something that he hadn't had for a while, 'I wonder if there's any food in here?' He though as he stood back up and looked for the kitchen. It took him a minute but he found it and started looking through cabinets and the cleanest looking fridge he'd seen in a while. Opening the door he found...nothing. 'Damn' he thought as he closed the fridge as he did he heard a knock on the door. 'Who the fuck could that be?' He wondered as he went to answer the door.
When he opened the door what he saw made him flinch in shock. It was a large blue, well dark blue to be specific. A large dark blue pony, like Twilight she (the curves being a dead giveaway) had a long horn on her head and a set of wings on her back. What made him flinch was her hair and...tail. 'It's gonna take some time to get use to this.' He thought as she started to speak.
"Oh...you must be Wanderer. The new human who landed in Equestria, on behalf of our nation I wish to apologize for this. I also want you to know that I have personally taken care of Twilight for disobeying my orders."
The Wanderer couldn't help but feel a sudden rush of worry, "Is she ok, you didn't hurt her did you?" He was actually questioning his own question in his mind.
"Oh of course not! I would never hurt any living thing as long as I live, but I do know how to punish in a manner fitting for the Princess of friendship. She is restricted from asking you any questions related to your species for any purpose for one week. Once this time has passed she may ask whatever she may think up." Luna said urgently to dismiss any possible thought of her physically hurting Twilight.
"Well...ok then. Now that's THAT'S over with who the hell are you?" he asked while crossing his arms.
She looked a little puzzled from his language as she spoke, "Well...didn't Sole say anything about me? I would of thought he'd of told you about me..." She looked saddened by the news of Sole not talking about her.
'She must like him....oh that's definitely gonna make things interesting here.' Thought the Wanderer, "Well...actually he did talk about you." Said the Wanderer a smirk appearing on his face. 'Oh I've just gotta poke the situation a little...or alot.'
Her mood flipped like a light switch, "Really! Umm I mean *cough* really?" She asked a slight blush appearing on her cheeks.
'OH hook line and sinker! Now what am I gonna do here.....got it.' His brilliant mind developed a almost sinister plan, not to evil but right on the line. "Oh yeah, the only thing he left out was your name and title. If you could tell me I'd appreciate it alot." Said the Wanderer lacing his words in a intelligence that couldn't be rivaled.
"Oh, well I'm Princess Luna. Mover of the moon and co-ruler of Equestria, but I'm sure you already knew that." Luna said as she looked down her blush darkening from the thought of Sole talking about her.
'Woah...she moves the moon? I'm gonna have to see this before I believe it but how to bring it up? Maybe...' The Wanderer leaned in a little, "Hey could you show me a little bit off your....power?" He asked like a curious child. 'Sometimes... I impress myself.' He thought as he smiled on the inside from his cleverness.
Luna looked a little nervous, "Well...I really shouldn't but, if you really want to see then I show you but only for a little bit, ok?" She said whispering near the end of her sentence, "but first I need to deliver what news I intended to deliver in the first place before I was side tracked. First is that with Twilight's research minimum as it was, you two might be here...longer then anticipated." Luna dropped her whisper voice but seemed to cringe while saying the end of the sentence.
The Wanderer eyed her, "what do you mean longer then anticipated?" He asked.
"Well," Luna's ears flaten, "Me and my sister original thought a week would be all we needed to clear this situation and....send Sole back." Again her face adopted a sad expression, "unfortunately we may require more time, we don't know how long but around a month if I was to guess but that doesn't mean we won't try everyway to get you BOTH back home." She said with belief in her voice.
'She sounds determined.... But what about her liking for Sole? Doesn't she realize the pain she's going to put apon herself through? This can only end badly for her and him if he does develop any feelings for her as well or if she....DOES anything with him, it'll only hurt them more....damn now I feel like a dick. Damn it! ....maybe I can push it down.... *grunt* *groan* *pfft* there we go. Goodbye guilt!' The Wanderer thought as she continued.
"The second thing I needed to address was this." Luna leaned to the left and picked up a rather large bow, "This is some food for the both of you. Twilight brought it to my attention that there was no food here so I went a bought you both some food to keep you both feed. The bad part is that I can't continue to do this so, you both might need to find some form of employment in Ponyville." She said while bringing the box into the library putting it down on the table that Sole's minigun once was.
'Oh god, why' he thought while turning towards Luna, "so....are we gonna see a little " magic"? He said while giving the word magic jazz hands.
Luna smiled as she walked outside signaling him to follow. The Wanderer walked out enough to see the moon while Luna walked out a good distance before getting ready. Her horn glowed with a dark blue ora that also seemed to surround the whole moon. His jaw fell a little as she slowly moved the point of her horn and the moon followed it. It actually followed it! 'B-b-b-but....HOW!' He screamed in his head as the moon almost danced in the night sky. The stars seemed to form a kind of pattern as she made the night turn into a extravaganza of movement and seemed to glow even brighter then they were just a minute ago. Only for them to all go right back where they were before the sudden burst of life that took them. The Wanderer could only gawk in amazement while Luna just walked over to the chariot that had brought her here and fly away, leaving a shocked human behind.
'I, did, it, my, my brain hurts' thought the Wanderer as he walked back into the library and looked at the box. 'Well might as well put this stuff away.' His stomach did him the pleasure of reminding him about his hunger. 'Riiiiight after I eat a little.' The Wanderer opened the box and saw...alot of vegetables. 'Well that's disappointing but I honestly saw this coming, they don't look like meat eaters from their teeth and last I remember ponies don't eat meat....this may present a problem for us later.' He picked up an apple and sniffed it. The sent was even better then the fresh apples he acquired by Rivit city. 'Ok smells good' he took a bite....'oh god." The juices of the apple inticed him into eating the rest of the apple like a ravenous pack of mole rats. 'Oh my god! That was delishus! Over got to have another.'
It took two minutes for the Wanderer to eat three more apples. His stomach full he then started putting things away in the kitchen. He finished twenty minutes later and made his way up stairs. The Wanderer saw a door slightly opened and peaked inside, it was Sole and Dogmeat. Sole was laying on his back a slight snore emitting from his mouth. Dogmeat layed over his chest also on his back a similar look as when he was down stairs sleeping behind the couch. 'My room must be over here then.' Thought the Wanderer as he looked towards the door across from Sole's room.
He opened it and looked apon the interior of his new room. It was simple and quaint alot like the town itself. He walked over to his bed and looked at the clean covers. This was all it took for him to fall into the bed and drift into a deep peaceful sleep.
