A letter from Dr. Hooves. (Time Turner) "I've always found amusement in tinkering and expanding my mind. Though if they are in jest or otherwise is solely my decision. But to say the truth, everything in life is finite, never to be seen beyond death. Why dreary the mood though? Does life have to be so grim and glum? I believe not! I believe in greatness and exhilaration and passion and heart! As there is no time but now, to do anything." On an average day, unlike no other, a scene was set for something amazing to happen, for discoveries to be made! Derpy, a small grey pony with a gold mane that, surprisingly, was consistently well kept, had almost been finished with her mail rounds, if it had not been for all of the errors. (To be blunt she is a ditz.) Though the job was incomplete, her shift ended 30 minutes ago, and she was late for meeting up with Turner. Derpy had suddenly became happy, filled with the joys of anticipation. Even though they were only "hanging out", she had been infatuated with him for some time now and to her it was almost like a date. Her love for Turner, though not well conveyed, was quite strong. Now, eager to meet him, she was, at last, headed to Dr. Hooves laboratory. The flight from cloudsdale to ponyville had invigorated her for the afternoon ahead with the doctor. Now finally at the lab, things seem to be a little bit more interesting than usual. For one thing, Turner had invited Derpy to his lab, where as usually Derpy would just enter as she pleased. She was very excited to meet him today. after she opened the door, she pranced into the lab and was instantly greeted with turners presence. "Hi, hehe." she blurted, enamored all the while. Oblivious to the signs of infatuation for him, Turner turned around and walked towards a large machine, rambling on about something. At that moment, something had caught Derpy's eye. It was a large round ball on the end of a stick that had her interest. As Turner was talking, she approached it. As she was about to grab it, turner shouted, "NO! Don't pull that lever just yet!" Intrigued by the lever, she pulled it in for a close examination; the large machine had just been activated. Now, because the situation had called for it, Turner quickly picked up some luggage he had prepared in the corner of the room. As he came with the luggage, the machine let out a huge sound, a sound that could probably be heard several blocks away. The room shook in intervals as the machine flashed brightly. "What's going on!?!" Derpy shouted franticly, puzzled by the situation. "Progress!" Turner replied, taking her by the foreleg. As the machine only got louder by the minute, Derpy and Turner entered the large contraption. The inside, surprisingly quieter, was home to a variety of switches and levers, all of which Turner was utilizing. Though the space was meant for two, it was still uncomfortable due to the luggage. But Derpy, alone with the doctor, felt ok. //-------------------------------------------------------// What once was, and is still forgoten //-------------------------------------------------------// What once was, and is still forgoten As they lie in the machine for about a minute or so, the sounds once heard from the outside, vanish. "So, what is this thing any way?" Derpy asked. "It is a machine that challenges the definition of space and time as being a continuous stream, only going in one direction." Turner replied. "Huh?" Derpy said, quite puzzled with a stupid, yet adorable look on her face. "I can understand if you did not quite properly perceive what I conveyed, but to put it simply it's a time machine!" "wow, I didn't think that was possible without magic. You must be really smart!" Derpy said. "Why thank you, now not only is the present accessible now, but also the entire existence of time is at our hoof tips." As he finished that statement, the noise that had been absent had resumed and died off like a quiet explosion. The air coming through the ceiling vents had a much different smell and feel than before. The levers and such, which had been altered, resumed their original positions. A gauge stated the year to be about 5068 years prior to their initial location in time. Feeling the effects of his machine have been severely adverse, Turner felt the need to proclaim his distress. "Great Whickering stallions, We went completely off our mark! We were only supposed to go back about an afternoon, but these numbers are...astronomical!" "Well you're a genius, I know you can fix this." Derpy said with a big smile. "I'm not sure I can, simply put...we way be stuck here for quite a while. Ohhh... what a mistake! Well at least I came prepared." He opened the door not knowing what to expect, and to his dismay, no ponyville. "I was afraid of this, but I'll have to gather the materials to make another machine. The one that took us here is still in ponyville. With another one we could send ourselves and the time box back to the future, but although that is important, finding shelter should be our main priority." Though calm and collected on the outside he was panicking on the inside, but Derpy was just happy to be with the doctor. they abandoned the box for now to look for shelter, bringing the luggage that had made their trip a tight squeeze. "Derpy, could you fly up to get a better view?" Turner asked. "Sure." Derpy replied, while flying higher into the air to take in her surroundings. As she glid across the sky, she saw miles upon miles of mountain ranges, and noticed that they were on the top of a mountain. She flew down to tell turner about the terrain, but then spotted something run away. Her curiosity was far to great to defy, and so off she went. Turner saw this and followed her on the ground. As she flew towards the creature , it picked up speed. Derpy, so enthralled with the chase, flew as fast as she could and collided with it. Turner, quite out of breath, finally caught up with the two. after placing his bags down neatly, was instantly shocked with surprise. "Were on a mountain, doc!" Derpy said gleefully. "I understand, but what is that!?!" "I don't know?" Derpy replied, shrugging her shoulders. As the three regain their composure, they looked at each other. However, most eyes were on the creature. "So, what are you?" Derpy asked, being the first to break the silence. "That's rude..." The creature stated, perplexed. "Sooooo?" Derpy continued, expecting an answer. Then the creature replied. "I am Professor Booster."
