Blue Spirit
Blue Spirit

"Yeah just give me a minute Rake!" The young filly was just about done packing her pouch, tonight they were going to see the mythical spirit that everyone was raving on about. "We just need this, this, this, oh and maybe even this!" Two pairs of binoculars, one first-aid kit, a lamp, a pocket watch, a torch with matches and oil, and two handmade snacks were crammed inside the pouch. The young filly looked at her partner, the two were ready to see the mythical spirit.
According to one of her friend's parents if you went down the path near the old outhouse you'd reach a pond and if you'd wait long enough you'd see a blue spirit emerge from the ground and start to patrol the area. Apparently the spirit wasn't even a pony but a tall two-legged creature that donned armor similar to what you'd see on Celestia's own guard. But that was just a rumor, some of it was probably exaggerated. So as the two ponies followed the directions the foliage around them kept getting denser and denser as they went, this continued until arrived at the pond. By the time they arrived it was night-time.
"Boy this place sure is dark huh?" The colt asked.
"Yeah, I can barely make out the pond from here," Her eyes squinted at what appeared the pond. "Think we should get a bit closer?"
"Well is it safe to move?," He looked for anything that looked supernatural then continued, "What time is it?"
The filly pulled out her pocket watch, "9:37. Yeah I think we're safe." They crawled closer to the pond until they saw it completely, safely behind a rock of course.
Time crawled as they waited for the spirit to appear. They counted stars, counted leaves, counted anything to pass time. Spirit watching was not a quick thing to do. But once the clock struck 11 a strange mist began to cover the area. The young ponies poked their head out from over the rock and saw the mist get thicker and thicker until it began to shape into a circle. The circle grew and shrunk with the wind and soon enough an eerie blue tint began to shine around it. Then what seemed to be a hole appeared right in the middle of the mist. Sounds came from the hole they were that of metal clinking and grinding. Heavy footsteps could also be heard coming from the void. Suddenly a paw reached out of the hole and pulled itself out. The ponies watching were stunned.
The figure stood roughly two stallions tall, it was as if a pony stood only on two hooves. His hooves were like that of a monkey's, 5 small little digits attached a hoof. The stories were partly correct, the spirit did wear armor similar Celestia's guard but only the armor wasn't gold but a sleek silver. However the helmet wasn't open like their's, in fact it was pointed to look like a nose. It also had what appeared to be a large halberd and shield.
'Or maybe it wasn't even armor, the metal could just be it's body!' Though that seemed a little silly to the filly.
"Jeez louse!" The colt was trying to stay calm and quiet, "Flower are you seeing what I'm seeing?!" The filly simply nodded, she seemed to be entranced by the figure's shape and glow. The metal giant then began to walk to the south, it started its patrol.
"Hey Rake, do you... do you think we should try to make contact with it?"
"What?! Absolutely not, we don't even know if the thing is friendly and if it was I doubt it would understand us!"
"Alright alright, I was just asking a question," The filly glanced over at the spirit again; however, when she glanced over there wasn't just one spirit there were multiple ones! One was wearing a long robe with what appeared to be a stick in its claws, this one was accompanied with a pale glow. The other white one looked like the blue spirit but he had much thicker armor on and one huge hammer to go with it!
The other spirits were a bit more menacing in their appearance. The red glowing spirit was had armor that looked like it was made of thorns and sickles that were a lot more sharp than anything the towns folk had. Then there was a pinkish spirit that wore leather and it didn't have hair on its head like the others. However the pink spirit was seated by the pond looking in, it seemed to be distracted by other things in the pond.
"Hey, uh, Flower I think we should get out of here," Rake looked for his friend but instead of being next to him she went to go and get a closer look. "Why do I always have to be in these kinds of situations?" Rake began to slither over to his friend, still keeping a close eye on the creatures. They were circling each other at this point.
"Ah so you did want to get a closer look at them didn't you?" Flower asked as Rake came close.
"No I didn't. Come on Flower, we need to leave things are getting a bit dangerous her-" Something screamed in pain.
Liquids hit the soil and something hit the ground, hard. The red spirit struck first, his sickles were covered in the blood of the stick wielding spirit. Blue and White began to make their move. Rushing in from both sides, Blue used its range to its advantage and struck Red in the chest. While Red was busy with Blue, White jumped into the air with his hammer ready to flatten Red but Red managed to roll out-of-the-way in time. This left White wide open meaning Red was able to get a few penetrating hits on through the armor. White managed to make his way out in time and he ran away from the foul spirit.
Blue once again tried to use range but Red saw this coming and managed to slide underneath the halberd and with a fierce downwards motion it broke the weapon in two. Blue managed to get away from Red but Red was quickly catching up to it.
As Red went for the fatal blow, Blue managed to parry the attack and from his behind he pulled out a sword. He went up to the dazed red spirit and struck its head. Red was dead. Pink was still occupied by the fish.
The two ponies watched in horror as the spirit pulled its sword from the other's head. The spirit caught the ponies looking at it and it began to walk towards them.
"F-Flower I told you this was a bad i-idea." Rake was trembling.
"I'm s-sorry Rake I never meant for this to happen!" The blue spirit stopped right in front of their hooves. They closed their eyes, waiting for death to decide their fates.
Something hit the ground and broke. "Very good!" When the ponies glanced up at their 'killer' they noticed that it put away its weapons and was kneeling before them.
"H-Hello." Flower managed to squeak out.
"Hello." The spirit dropped another thing. "I'm sorry." One more item was shattered on the ground
"You're not going to kill us?" Rake asked. The spirit was still silent; however, the spirit pointed towards Flower's bag. Flower pushed it towards the spirit and it began to shuffle through the bag. It pulled out the two snacks and gave the bag back to flower. Blue called out to Pink and gestured towards its findings. Pink got out of its hunched place and walk towards Blue. Blue gave the spirit the snack and Pink simply walked off chewing on the food.
Blue glanced back at the ponies and dropped the speaking carving on the ground next to them. It seemed that they had just traded with each other. With one last wave, Blue dissipated into the fog once more and left.
Flower picked up the carving and threw it to the ground like how the spirit had. "Very Good!" The item reappeared in her hoove, she then put it into her bag. They began their journey back home.
"Think anyone's going to believe us?"
"Probably not."
