“Twilight! I really, really, really need your help with something? Where are you?” Rainbow called. Her ears perked up at the sound of hooves clopping on the crystal floor of Princess Twilight’s castle.

“Rainbow Dash?” Twilight asked rubbing her eyes. “What are you doing here? It’s 3 in the morning!” she groaned.

“Wow, really? Huh, sorry I guess I’ll talk to you later Twi” Rainbow said sheepishly.

Twilight face hoofed. “I can’t deal with her crap this early in the morning” she rubbed her mane tiredly.

In the morning…
“Shower? Check. Combing my mane? Check. Breakfast? Check.” Twilight scanned her list one more time to make sure she didn’t miss anything.

“Twilight, don’t forget about your thing with the girls at Sugar Cube Corner!” Spike called from upstairs.

The lavender alicorn gasped. “Oh, right! I completely forgot.” She quickly tossed her list away and grabbed her saddlebags before galloping out the door.

“For such an organized pony, Twilight sure is scatterbrained sometimes” Spike muttered to himself.

On the way to Sugarcube Corner Twilight bumped into Rainbow Dash again. “Oh hey! What was that all about, last night?” she asked.

Rainbow blushed a little. Twilight raised her eyebrows at her friend. Since when did Rainbow Dash blush so easily? “Sorry about that, I just really need your help with something.” Rainbow said quickly

“Hiya Twilight and Dashie!” Pinkie appeared next to the two mares. “Watcha doin’? You guys are late! Everypony’s waiting for you!” she dragged the two ponies into Ponyville’s favorite sweet shop.

“Y’all are late! What took so long?” Applejack asked. “We almost started without ya!” Rarity nodded in agreement. Fluttershy just smiled warmly, “It’s quite alright”

Mrs. Cake approached them. “What will you girls be having? We have new pumpkin spice muffins!”

Pinkie bounced in her seat. “Guysguysguys! You should really, totally try those they are super scrumptious! I had like ten!”

Rarity sighed. “Pinkie how much coffee have you had today?”

Pinkie smiled sheepishly. “A lot” Rarity just rolled her eyes.

“So Rainbow what is it you wanted to talk to me about?” Twilight asked.

Rainbow stuffed her hoof in Twilight’s mouth. “Shhh not so loud!” But it was too late everyone at the table was looking at Rainbow Dash.

“What could you two possibly have to talk about that you can’t tell us?” Rarity questioned, curiously.

“Whatever it is Rainbow Dash, you can tell us.” Fluttershy said sweetly.

“We’re here for ya” Applejack said.

Rainbow huffed. “Fine. It’s just that… I think that I have a crush on somepony”

“Sorry, what? It almost sounded like you said you have a crush…” Twilight said.

Rarity gasped. “Oh Rainbow Dash! This is wonderful! Who is it? Is it that DJ? Vinyl Scratch, or that Wonderbolt? Is it a mare or a stallion? Spill!”

Rainbow stomped her hoof on the table, frustrated. “It’s a mare. I don’t know yet, though. I needed Twilight’s help to figure out how I felt about her.”

Twilight looked shocked. “Me? Why me? What about Rarity?” Dash stared at Twilight, confused. “Aren’t you dating that guard from the Crystal Empire?”

Twilight blushed. “Oh… that. I was going to tell you guys sooner or later but I just never got around to it.”

Applejack smirked. “S’okay sugarcube. We already knew ‘bout that.”

“You did?” Twilight sighed.
Rarity giggled. “You lovebirds weren’t subtle. What I want to know is who caught Rainbow Dash’s eye.”

“Guys… seriously! You gotta help me!” Dash whined.

Pinkie jumped up from under the table. “Did you guys order the pumpkin spice muffins? I might have mixed up the orders.”

Applejack waved her hoof. “Pinkie! C’mere, RD’s about to tell us who she likes.”

Rainbow groaned. “I don’t know yet. My feelings are all mixed up and I don’t know what to do! What if it’s just a physical attraction and I don’t really like her? What if she likes me back and I lose interest after a couple of weeks? What if she doesn’t like me back? ”

Pinkie pulled up a seat and grabbed some popcorn. “Actually, its super duper easy Dashie. You just gotta follow your heart. If you feel warm and fuzzy around her you know its love! It’s all about the feels Dashie.”

Fluttershy sighed dreamily. “That sounds so romantic Pinkie! I wish I had a special somepony. If I did I would feel really nervous around them.”

“According to science, when you’re around someone you feel really strongly about your heartbeat quickens and you might start to sweat.”

Rarity looked at Rainbow Dash intensely. “The only way to know how you feel about them is the kiss. You have to kiss them and everything will fall into place. If it doesn’t feel right you’ll know they aren’t for you. Pinkie is absolutely right this is a matter of the heart.”

Rainbow shifted her gaze to Applejack. “What do you think AJ?” she asked softly.

“Fer once, I agree with Rarity. I might not know a lot ‘bout love or romance. But there’s one thing ah do know. I know that, sometimes, you gotta listen to yer heart instead of your head.”

Rainbow nodded. “Thanks guys. I think I know what to do.”

Pinkie was already done with her popcorn and had moved on to the muffins. “You guys are missing out on these delicious muffins. Ditzy would love these if she were here.”

“Hey weren’t those for that other table, Pinkie?” Twilight said. Pinkie just shrugged and continued eating the muffins.

“It has been lovely, darlings, but I simply must get back to my dresses. Au revoir!” Rarity chirped.

Twilight nodded. “I have to go too. Bye girls!”

“I think my break was over 20 minutes ago!” Pinkie cried.

“Good luck Rainbow Dash.” Fluttershy whispered, in her usual shy manner.

“Ah reckon’ I’d better get back to the farm. I hope y’all find what you’re looking for Rainbow Dash.” Applejack said sincerely.

Rainbow smiled. “I already have.” She whispered.

Sweet Apple Acres….
Rainbow Dash crashed into the field of apple trees. “Ow, that worked out better than I expected.” She shook the leaves and twigs out of her mane and tail.

Applejack ran over to her, with a concerned look on her face. “Are you okay? Ya have got to stop crashing into ma apple trees! You could get hurt or you could’ve hurt ma trees!”

Rainbow Dash took a deep breath. “I’m sorry Applejack. I’m also sorry for this.”

She walked over to her friend and kissed her full on the mouth. She pushed her lips against the farmpony’s sweet, apple-tasting muzzle and kissed her insistently. To her surprise, Applejack was kissing back with the same amount of passion.

Finally, Rainbow Dash pulled away. “I’m so sorry, I-I just had to know. I followed my heart…like you said.”

Applejack gave her a small smile. “S’okay. I gotta say, Dash that was one hell of a kiss.”

Rainbow smirked. “Did you expect any less?”

Applejack snorted. “I didn’t expect it at all. Maybe we could give this—” she gestured to herself and Rainbow, “a try.”

Rainbow jumped up. “That would be awesome.”
