When Spike and Twilight investigate why Sunset Shimmer has abruptly stopped contacting Equestria, they end up in the middle of an extraterrestrial war.
"I'm really worried, Spike! Since she stopped writing, the portal to the human world has been acting strangely. What if something bad happened?"
"Twilight, it's only been a couple weeks! I'm sure that whatever's going on, Sunset's fine. Even if something bad is happening, she's basically got the Elements of Harmony behind her."
"Still, I don't like it. What if I just… check up on her? See if there's really anything going on?"
"*Sigh* Oh, alright. I guess you wouldn't be the Princess of Friendship if you didn't worry about your friends. But I'm coming too!"

"Sir, we're picking up strange readings from a small town on the eastern seaboard."
"What kind of readings?"
"I'm not sure, sir. They don't match any alien signatures we've— Wait! Bogey sighted! Scout-class UFO! They're hovering near the unknown signature."
"Strike Team One! Suit up and get to the Skyranger! Whatever they're interested in, we'd better get there first…"
