As the cold winter winds blew through Friesianville, Kazzalot packed her saddlebags; ready to continue on her journey. A magenta aura surrounded her cargo as Kazz picked them up with her magic and placed them on her back. While she followed the pathway out of town, she heard several ponies call out to her, "Can't you stay with us?". It almost made her feel bad for leaving, but Kazz knew she couldn't stay. She had to continue on with her journey. So she walked down the path shaking her head in answer to their question.
Continuing down the path, Kazz began to take in her surroundings. Her nose tingled from the heavy aroma of crisp, crystal clear water which overpowered the normal scent of pine. In search of the scent and bubbling sound of the stream she saw that they were coming from a small stream that slowly flowed alongside the path. Walking down the path even further, Kazz found a field of pure-white snowdrops that accompanied the aromas in the air, giving it a lemony tinge. Overhead, the sun began to shine down brighter as the puffy cloud cover moved on. The sweet silence was abruptly broken by a faint ringing of bells; though the source was nowhere in sight. Perplexed, Kazzalot dismissed the noise, convincing herself that she was just hearing things - it certainly wouldn't be the first time. If Kazz was sure about anything right now, it was this- she needed some sleep.
Kazz continued to walk down the scenic pathway until she stopped as the road forked off into two different directions. She craned her neck and nudged her glasses further up on her snout, looking at the two signpost arrows. The one on the left read, "Ponyville", while the other read, "Down Yonder". The decision was obvious here, she continued on her route down the left path, still looking around at her environment.
Kazzalot's imagination began to spiral as she imagined how comfortable the beds would be when she finally reached the inn in Ponyville. Hopefully, her imagination would become reality soon; the weight of her saddlebags were starting to feel heavier by the minute. There wasn't really much to see down this path, just a bunch of trees and bushes. While continuing down her route at a leisurely pace, Kazz began to notice that the path was starting to become inconsistent compared to where she had been previously. Then it was as if there wasn't a path at all, just grass. It dawned on Kazz that just ahead had now been completely overgrown with grass. It would almost be nigh impossible to get to Ponyville without the path; she had no clue where she was going and couldn't find a map to lead while trading in the previous town.
Kazzalot was in a tough situation now, should see continue to walk around aimlessly or return back to Friesianville?
There had to be someway out of this, she had to think of something. Continuing on without a path to guide her wasn't an option she was willing to choose, but it almost seemed like the best outcome. The next best option for Kazzalot was to return back to Friesianville, and continue her journey to some other town. If Kazz chose to find her own way to Ponyville, she would take the chance of getting lost - a risk Kazzalot was nervous to take. So, after a minute of consideration, she decided that going in blind would have to do. She'd find the next town eventually, right?
At this rate, Kazz was getting nowhere, all the offshoots on the trail eventually started leading her to place that definitely weren't Ponyville. The only choice she had was to go back to Friesianville, there was no way she was going "Down Yonder". Kazz begrudgingly made her way back to the original fork in the road with her hooves starting to feel heavy. She was getting exhausted from carrying the weight of her bags for so long.
For the second time today, Kazzalot heard another noise, but rather than the ringing of bells, she heard a silvery voice of a pony. Her ears perked up, trying to listen out for the sound again.
" Are you lost? " the voice called out.
The source of the voice seemed to be right behind her, but wouldn't she have seen somepony when she came back up the path? Kazz curiously turned around, finally finding the source of the sounds.
