Hello, my name is Anon. I am human, a human in a pony world. Yeah, long story. I want to explain my life back in human world to you. My Mother was the only thing I had, I never met my Dad. My Mom told me that he left when I was young, she said that he didn't want to be tied down. Of course, I had to comfort my Mom after she told me the story. Which I regret asking her about.
When I was a child, I rarely saw my Mother, she was always so busy. The only time I got to spend time with her was during meals. Every dinner, she would always ask "More rice?" I always enjoyed dinner with her,
But as I grew, I started seeing her less and less...
I remember one time, I was having dinner with her and I was on my phone with my earbuds looking down, my music was on blast and I was texting my friend, he wanted to know if I wanted to play basketball with him at 6:00 P.M. I said "Yeah. Sure." I looked up, my Mother asked me something, I couldn't hear her but I could make out the words by looking at her mouth, she wanted to know if I wanted more rice. I glanced at the big bowl of rice on the table, shook my head, and went to my room to get ready to play basketball.
I played basketball frequently, leaving my Mother eating dinner without her only son...
After high school, I was working as a office man. You probably know how it is, alot of paper work, not much money, and in a bathroom stall like area. My Mother called me every holiday asking "Are you coming home this holiday?" and It was very common of me to reply with a "No Mom, I'm busy,"
And the thing that is heartbreaking is that... she'll say "Alright. I won't bother you anymore."
I was always focused on work, so much that I'll be looking through my papers while walking and bump into either, something or someone, near by.
After my Mom called a few times during the year for holidays, she gave up. Haven't heard a single phone call until the next year.
The next phone call I got was from my Mom, she asked "Are coming for New Years?" with my usual response I would say "No Mom, I'm busy,"
When she hung up the phone I suddenly felt bad for my Mother... all those times she cared about her little boy, her son, the person that completed her life wasn't there for her, not for the holidays, funerals, or even when it was my Mom's birthday. She ate dinner by herself ...
I skipped work on New Years, and took the plane back to Thailand
When I arrived at my childhood home I could smell the fish and rice from the kitchen. Before I left my mother gave me a key to our house and said "Don't lose this key." she said with a smile
I unlocked the door and stepped in side, That familiar, yet delicious smell I surprisingly longed for.
When I walked in the kitchen my heart completely shattered, my Mother all dressed up eating dinner all by herself, she just finished her rice. Then an idea came to mind.
I spoke up saying "Ma?" Once she heard my voice her eyes lit up, when she looked up I sat down beside her and asked "More rice?"
My Mother simply smiled, and handed me her bowl with little specks of rice grains. I personally thought that was the best dinner I have ever had. It was then I realized my Mother asked me if I wanted more rice... It was to spend more time with me. All those times I responded flatly to her questions I regret deeply. I wanted to go back in time so I could have responded sweetly to ALL her questions.
Sadly she passed away a few years after that wonderful dinner.
I now have children, with my beautiful wife (which is also human.)
Every time one of my children misbehaves or gives an attitude to their mother I tell this story, works every time,
My Mother and Wife share identical personalities, they are both really soft, thoughtful, funny and the list goes on and on.
They are both very beautiful women.
I will NEVER walk out on my Wife and kids like how my Dad did. Which for some reason, I'm still very angry about.
I also, will NEVER forget my Mother's last words "Always ask if they want more rice." that memory always played in my head seeing my Mom on her death bed, lifeless, brings tears to my eyes.
People or ponies think this is heartless but, I chuckle at my Mom's last words. I TOTALLY expected that from my Mom.
I didn't take her dying well, but I knew she was in a better place.
I remember wanting to go to heaven and feel my Mother again,
I know it will take long but, not TOO long.
But, I have one question: What special moment do you hold in your heart the most?
A/N: I kinda enjoyed writing this kinda because I was tired but I thought it was worth it . If you want a sequel tell me, we never know might be from the mother's perspective. I'm kinda frightened about what people are going to think about this little story. I wish everyone happy holidays and make sure you eat.
