Chapter 2

Twilight woke up with a splitting headache, she rubbed her forehead and said. “Where am I?”

When a voice replied she got startled by the fact that someone else was there with here.

“You are in a prison cell in a castle ruin.”

Twilight looked around the darkness and could only see a figure in the shadows.

“Well why don't we just escape? I guess this doors are older then the sun itself.” Twilight said while she took a few steps back to ram the door.

“I'll wouldn't do that if I were you” The voice said just as Twilight took off in full speed.

Twilight ignored what he had to say and just ran for the door. A loud thud echoed through the prison floor and Twilight fell to the ground, as she began to get up the voice chuckled and said. “Told you.”

Twilight started to get impatient with this mysterious stallion, “Well if you are so smart why don't you come up with an better idea? Huh!”

The stallion rose up from the bed he was laying on. Twilight was to busy lecture him so she didn't noticed him walking out from the shadows.

When she noticed him in the light she slowly stopped talking and a blush formed in her face.

“I. Um.. I didn't mean to shout at you.” Twilight said while covering her face with her hoof.

“it's okay, I'm used to get yelled at. My name is Dawn Essence, The Grave Robber. But you can just call me Dawn.” He said with a smile.

“Wait.. I.. I have seen you in Canterlot from times to times.” Twilight said with a confused voice.

“Probably, I have been in various places selling my finds. Everyone need to make a living.”

“How is it that you are here?” Twilight asked.

“In these ruins or in this prison cell?”  Asked Dawn.

“Um.. Both” She replied.

“Well It started when I was just minding my own business in Canterlot when a big Stallion came forth and pat me on my shoulder. I turned around and saw this stallion, he didn't mentioned his name and his face was covered with a hood. He said he had a job for me and that he paid good money, and I can't just say no to money.” Dawn chuckled.  “So” he continued.

“We talked about the thing he wanted me to get. It was an artifact of some sort. Well I took the job and went to my coworker and told him the great news. As we entered these ruins we saw the statues in the entrees hall and those lovely gold plates.” Dawn needed to take a pause to breath.

“Anyways” He said.

“My stupid coworker said that we needed some extra coins. I told him it could wait. We adventured down in the basement where the royal crypt was. And there in front of us laid four stone coffins. The mysterious stallion said that this artifact was in the biggest coffin.”

As I started to pry open the coffin my coworker wandered around and started to pry open another coffin, at first I didn't care to much about it but when the stone cap didn't want to move I yelled at him to help me. The moment I turned around to face my so called friend the cap on his coffin slid open and a gray smoke wriggled out followed by the most horrified laughter you've ever heard. Then the cap flung open and hit the wall on the other side of the room. And a skeleton of a mare rose from the coffin. As the flesh and blood started to appear on this skeleton it turned its head to us and said. “Run”.

Without a second thought we did so. At the entrees hall my coworker remembered the golden plates and stopped without warning.

We didn't get the artifact and we need money! He said. At the same time he finished to carve out the plate I saw in the stairwell a black figure, as I turned around my coworker was already halfway at the door. I yelled at him but something got my feet and I fell. The next thing I remember is waking up here.”

“So you let out Pain?” Twilight asked.

“No my coworker did, I had nothing to do with it! Didn't you listen?” He replied.

Twilight suddenly realized something, her eyes open widely.

“The ritual.” She whispered to herself.

“What did you say?” Dawn asked.

“The Ritual!” She shouted. “I know what she is going to do!”

“What are you talking about!?” Dawn asked nervously.

“Pain said she needed my magic and energy for some kind of ritual, I didn't know to what ritual until now! I'm so stupid!” Twilight shouted.

A laughter came from the other side cell door. “Bravo, Bravo! Miss Twilight. You are really smart!”

“Pain, you let us out of here or I will!” Twilight said.

“You what? Shout at me!? Cast your weak magic on me? HA!” Pain said, “I don't think so.” With a laughter she disappeared in a smoke cloud.

Twilight sobbed. “If only my brother or Celestia was here now.”

Dawn walked up to Twilight and put a hoof on her shoulder. “Don't worry, we'll get out of here.”

Twilight felt Dawn's warmth against her fur. Again her eyes opened widely.

“Dawn can I ask you for a favor?”

“Sure what is it?”

“I need your energy for a spell, I promise it wont hurt... so much.” Twilight said while looking into Dawn's eyes.

“Sure whatever it takes to get us out from this hell hole!” Dawn answered with a shaken voice.

With a weak spell Twilight made a purple circle around Dawn.

“What that it?” Dawn asked, “That wasn't so bad.”

“No that was just the start, now comes the hard part.” Twilight said with seriousness.

Twilight's horn started to glow with a purple light, she clenched her teeth and closed her eyes. As the spell became stronger Twilight slowly slid on the stone, the cell got lit up by the purple light and after a flash.

Both Dawn and Twilight fell to the floor exhausted.

“Wh...What did you do?” Dawn asked.

“This might sound ridiculous, but I sent a messages to my brother with my memories from when I came here until now.” Twilight answered.

“You needed all that power for just that!?”

“Yes! Pain have some spell over this cell to make it hard to send telepathic messages. I needed some extra energy to send this!” Twilight answered irritated.

“HA! You sure do prove that you have the power of a great magician. And now its time.” A voice from nowhere said.

A flash filled the cell once again. When the light faded Twilight was gone.

“NO! You'll pay for this!” Dawn shouted.

He looked around the cell and saw a brick that was lose in the wall. He laughed to himself and kicked the wall. The sound of falling stone filled the prison floor and the stone wall fell.

From the dust Dawn sprinted out to catch up with Pain and Twilight.

His running took a sudden stop when his legs didn't want to follow his command anymore.

“What is this? Why can't I control my legs?” He said to himself.

“I have control of you fool!” A voice in his head said. “I will not let a simple thief like you stop me to conquer this world!”

“You just made your biggest mistake my friend...” Dawn chuckled. “Never I repeat NEVER! Call me a simple thief!” Dawn slowly started to break the control Pain had over him.

Meanwhile in Canterlot.

Shining armor wakes up with a gasp.

“What is it?” Cadence asked with a yawn.

“I... I had a dream... But there is something strange about it, it felt so.... real.” Shining Armor said Wide awake.

“Well.. It was just a dream, come back to bed now.” Cadence said.

“No! Something is wrong. Something is with Twilight. I can feel it” Shining Armor said with a serious voice. “I need to talk to the general. I be right back.” He said while putting on his uniform.

Cadence let out a loud sigh and turned her back towards Shining Armor.

“I promise Cadence, I will be.. GAAH!” Shining Armor fell to the floor with a loud thud.

Cadence jumped out of bed and ran to Shining Armor. “Whats happening!?”

“I... I don't know... Something is wrong with... With Twilight! Someone is draining her magic!” Shining Armor said between his long breath. “I need the general, now!”
