The afternoon sun hung high over Canterlot High, its bright rays shimmering through the countless windows, bathing the classrooms in comforting warmth. Still sitting in their desks, students listened to their teachers, while also carefully watching the slowly rotating arms of the clock. It was a Friday afternoon, and so many of them had already checked out their brains for the weekend.

Of these students, one of them was a thin young man by the name of Cloud Tumble. He dressed casually, had sky-blue hair, and soft brown eyes. Slowly tapping the eraser end of his pencil against the desk, he frequently looked up at the clock through his dark-red spectacles. He would also occasionally tap his sneakered feet against the floor below, as if to the beat of his pencil. As the teacher droned on about the final bit of the day’s subject, most of it merely fell upon Cloud’s retired ears.

Eventually, the much-loved sounds of the end bell rang loud and clear across the halls of the school. Without a second thought, students hoped up from their desks, grabbed their belongings, and headed off. Cloud got up himself, stretched off his afternoon lethargy, and grabbed his backpack. Slinging it over his shoulders, he meandered out of the classrooms, and into the busy halls. Once in the halls, he carefully made his way through the bustling crowds, until passing through the front doors and out into the high school grounds.

With no agenda of his own, this beautiful afternoon, Cloud found a soft patch of grass, and softly sat down upon it. He sometimes ran his fingers across the lush, green grass; while other times he’d gaze up into the sky, and admire its crystal-blue hues and fluffy white clouds. Eventually, in the midst of his afternoon relaxation, a beautiful figure caught Cloud’s eyes. Standing a short distance across the grounds was a graceful figure, with long, flowing hair composed of two shades of faint blue; and eyes of soft violet. She wore a jacket that was of a deeper blue hue, with star patterns on the sleeves; and a purple skirt that bore a magic wand pattern across one side. Lastly, upon her feet, she wore a pair of boots that were of the same blue as her jacket and violet as her eyes.

This beautiful gal went by the name Trixie Lulamoon, and was a popular cheerleader among the students of Canterlot High. With a pair of pom-poms in her hands, Cloud could see that she was spending the beautiful afternoon practicing her latest moves, probably for next week’s game. Stunned by her radiance, with little thought to what he was doing, Cloud picked up his backpack and began walking towards Trixie. It wasn’t long before Trixie saw Cloud approaching. At this point, she stopped her cheering practices, and simply looked at him. He looked back, feeling rather dumbfounded and embaressed. Soon enough, the awkward moment of silence was broken by Trixie’s soft voice.

“Hello, Cloud.” She said, in a surprisingly welcoming tone

“H…hello, Trixie.” Cloud replied, trying hard to hide the blush that was developing across his face.

A few more moments of silence passed, before this time being broken by Cloud’s sheepish voice.

“I… saw that you were practicing.” He began to say, “You… have some very nice moves.”

Appreciating Cloud’s kind words, Trixie smiled, and thanked him. She began to walk closer, somewhat to Cloud’s surprise. She told him that she had cheer practice later that evening, and asked if he would like to attend. Cloud began to smile too, in response to the offer, and said that he’d be honored to. Trixie thanked him, and headed off to resume her solo practices. As she stepped further and further from Cloud, something in the young man’s mind and heart began to burn. He had something inside… something that had been locked inside him for too long, and now needed to be let loose.

“Trixe.” Cloud called out, acting on impulse

“Yes Cloud?” Trixie replied, looking back

“Trixie, I… I love you.” Cloud finally said, those three fateful words passing from his lips.

Hearing these words, Trixie suddenly stood stock still. She gazed at Cloud, a deep blush beginning to form upon her cheeks. She didn’t seem repulsed by what Cloud said, however. On the contrary, she almost seemed to start inquiring him more on what he had just said.

“You… love me?” She asked, wanting to clarify what she just heard

“Yes…” Cloud replied, “Since the day I first laid eyes on you, you immediately held a spot in my heart. I was… just too afraid to tell you until now.”

Upon hearing this, Trixie ran up to Cloud, and gently hugged him. Smiling, she continued holding him in a soft embrace, and rested her head temporarily upon his shoulder. Filled with happiness, she told him that this was the nicest thing a boy ever told her. Happy himself to hear this, Cloud smiled back, and wrapped his arms around the blue-hued young lady. For some time, the couple stood together under the heat of the afternoon sun, letting the gentle breeze flow through their hair. Eventually, Trixie leaned up, and delivered a soft kiss to Cloud’s cheek. As a deep red blush once again fell upon Cloud’s tannish-brown face, Trixie gently pulled herself away. She returned to her pom-poms, picked them up, and began to walk away.

“See you this evening.” She said, an extra flirtatious tone now in her voice, as she continued walking away.

After watching Trixie leave, Cloud began to head the other way. Now, as he meandered to another part of the high school grounds, this Friday afternoon suddenly seemed all the more beautiful to him.
