Rainbow Dash walked slowly into town with her head bowed towards the ground. Ponies around stared at her, caught out by her sudden appearance. She moved in one straight line towards Twilight's castle, wings at her sides and her face shadowed. Rainbow knocked on the castle doors and sat there, waiting.
It was Spike who opened the door. He recoiled in shock at the pony he saw before him, since everypony (and dragon) had thought that Rainbow had dissapeared off of the face of their beloved planet. He called for Twilight, and Twilight came. Rainbow finally unbowed her head to look at her friend with her magenta eyes that seemed to glow in the sunlight.
"Good Morning, Twilight..." Rainbow whispered.
"R... Rai.. Rainbow... Where did you go?" Twilight replied
"I went away... It's been a while..."
"It certainly has! 30 years is extraordinarily long!!!"
"I'm sorry I couldn't come back previously, but I had to come to terms with myself."
"What? wh-"
"I'm dieing, Twilight."
"..."
"I wanted to say that I'm sorry for being foolish, although sorry never made it feel alright... I wish I could repay for all the things that you have helped me with; all the times that you took me to the hospital when I was ill or had injured my self..."
"Rainbow... If it means anything, you have repayed me. With your friendship"
"Thank you for that T...Twi...Twilight"
Rainbow fell forward, where Twilight was there waiting to catch her, and with her final breath, Rainbow whispered "I can finally look you in the eyes..."
Rainbow looked up into Twilight's eyes, which she noticed were swelling up with tears. Then her brain shut down for the final time and her eyed closed, her heartbeat stopped and her breathing diminished into nothing.
Twilight layed her friend down, and she cried.
