The Era of Deception

Once there were four siblings tasked with bringing about everlasting peace that would shower those that live in wealth and general prosperity. The first sister was known as Liferein, a pony who put the lives and wishes of other ponies above all else. The second sister was named Archive, she who valued fact and reasoning. The first brother was Intensity who didn’t value much since he was the embodiment of recklessness and split second action with no foresight. The second brother and final sibling was Deathshrieker, who despite his name was the most reasonable and fair. However he was also the first to slaughter those that challenged his judgment and ideals.

These four alicorns went from village to village rewarding those who did right and punishing those that did wrong. After some time the alicorns succeeded in their task and peace reined in Equestria. Praised for their heroic deed, the siblings were welcomed into the majestic city of Canterlot and rewarded with armor forged by the finest blacksmiths and enchanted by princess Platinum’s own apprentice, Clover the Clever.

Unfortunatly the peace did not last long for it was undone by its own creators. After a particularly terrible venture into the blasted lands, the siblings were cursed and slowly driven mad with the desire for destruction of all those they were sworn to protect. But Liferein’s courage and the love that she possessed for her fellow ponies prevented her from the fate of her brood. With her bravery and will power she fought back against her turned brethren but was defeated. Seeing that she could not best them in combat, she tried again to persuade them but they continued to call her foolish and misguided and threatened her to not disobey them, or else.

With the last of her strength, she formed a band of ponies that had proven themselves trustworthy and courageous, and raised them to her parents to be judged. Her parents saw what was to be lost should they decline and could not bear the result of their daughters failure. And thus was the birth of the twelve alicorn guardians. The new guardians led by their leader Liferein arrived in the village of Brindale to confront the fallen peace bringers only to find that they had slaughtered every last resident of the town and burned it to the ground to make sure none survived. The guardians walked through the desolate ruin until they stood face to face with the betrayers. Thirteen hours passed with much pain and suffering but the final stab was dealt and the last of the blood to be spilled had done so. Triumphant, the guardians returned home and took the place of the old four as knights of Canterlot tasked with overseeing the peace and happiness of the citizens of Equestria. And thus began the era of lasting tranquility for all ponies.
