I awoke to the familiar sound of the alarm clock beeping. "Another day another twenty-four hours of misery i have to endure."
I'm in a dead end job with next to no money to my name. I live off coffee for breakfast and TV dinners for well dinner. "Oh crap!" I exclaimed as I noticed the time. Work was going to start in about twenty minutes. I quickly got dressed and ran to work.
******************
Well that's the end of my career. I was late to work for the sixth time in two weeks. "Well I guess I'll have to go home and play Call of Duty or watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on youtube. I can still remember the last episode of the second season. I don't know why that one stands out so much, but it does.
The walk home was boring just as the walk to work had been. None the less it was a bit warmer than it usually was in fall here and the leaves were yet to change color. "I don't know why but I have the feeling that something isn't quite right," I thought to myself. As I turn the corner onto my street I can see a group of children playing at the park that was once not so run-down. "I guess the city just stopped caring for it," I say with a hint of sadness in my voice. With that, a smile finds its way onto my face from watching the children play. As I arrive at home I decide to order a pizza to change things up a little bit, even though there's not much change in ordering a pizza.
Anyway, back to my "life". I live in a small town called Forthsville in Colorado. It's a quaint little place with absolutely no tourism what-so-ever. The only attraction we have is a small campground about three miles passed our last building. Denver is eighty-six miles south of here so we don't expect anyone up here at all. I've thought about mo... the doorbell rings. I get up and walk across my living room to grab my wallet and proceed to the door.
"Pizza deliver... oh, hey Studs!"
"I told you I don't like being called Studs!" I yelled back.
"You never seemed to mind before, why do you care now?"
"I admit back when i used to play football for school I liked it but i don't think it fits me anymore." i let out a heavy sigh after that statement "Chaz...I." I started.
"Sorry Studs, I have to go. I'll talk to you later ok? it's just I have other deliveries to make, bye!" He shouted back as he ran to his car.
"See you later Chaz!" I yelled back. Anyway, I've thought about moving down to Denver, but I haven't had the time or the money... Well I guess I have the time now. Hmm... maybe I could get a job as an ad writer or a telemarketer. Who knows; the possibilities are endless. I just have to find my way. I start to smile because I realized what I had said.
It's been two days since I got fired and things are starting to get really weird around here. It hasn't rained but there's this permanent rainbow now. It's also still really warm so I'm heading up to the lake where I used to play as a kid to take a long overdue swim. I can't remember the lake all that well, but what I do remember was the crystal clear water that gently reflected the trees and the sky. But what I don't remember is a mossy green lake almost like grass with a brown strip of who-knows-what running down the center of it. I walked along the shore for a while, I think it was about an hour or so when I came upon a rope swing. I tested it's strength before I clamored up a tree and swung in.
The water was cold but that was to be expected on a nice day like today. "I think I can see what's causing the water to be a greenish-brown color," I thought to myself as I swam back up to the surface. I just floated there for a little while I lost track of time, before curiosity got the better of me I took a large inhale kind of like Fluttershy did in the sonic rainboom episode from season one and dove down. The further I swam the more endless it seemed. Suddenly there was a flash of light then it was just black. I don't know what happened, was I dead? As I floated through, who-knows-what, I couldn't help but feel that I was still alive and that I was going somewhere but where? Why?
************************************
I awoke to a sweet, strange but somehow familiar voice asking "Are you okay?" I don't know why but my throat felt a little hoarse all of a sudden.
"Fine, at least I think," I responded but my voice sounded a little off. It was a slightly higher tone than it normally would have been.
"That's good, we were starting to worry." A male's voice chimed in calmly with a hint of happiness. When I looked down at my hands and feet, I wasn't prepared for what I had seen there in front of me... I had hooves!
"What happened? I can't remember a thing ever since I was swimming. Then I looked up at the two figures above me. " Pr-Princess Cadence? and Shining Armor?" I could have sworn I was dreaming. "There's no way this is actually happening." I stated while trying to not lose it.
Cadence looked at me and I felt like she was looking straight through me.
"So what's your name?" She asked.
"Oh well my name is," I start, "Studs my name is Studs."
Shining armor fidgets a little bit before saying "Well you should come back to Canterlot with us. We were going to go to Ponyville, but I think that can wait for a little while given the circumstances. I'm certain that my sister would understand." With that we began the walk back to Canterlot. Princess Cadence, Shining Armor and myself talked about me the whole way there. I think they were generally clueless of what to think. I had explained my old life to them and we also talked about what I would possibly do for a job given that I was probably going to be here a while.
