Hi! As you already know, my name is Layla Hearts. I attend Miss Peony's Academy for Wayward Unicorn Fillies and all of my best friends are pegasi. My mane is longer than my short body. I enchanted it so that it would be unable to get dirty at the bottom because of how much I dragged it. My Mommy's always tellin me to get it cut, but the enchantment I did put me out for school for a week because I used so much magical energy!
I'm going to talk about my friends now. Remember how I mention that they were all pegasi? Wonder why? Okay. All of the unicorns fillies at my school are always tripping me with my mane! Luckily, my manestyle is fluffy curls placed everywhere, so I fell into a raspberry smelling cushion. Oh! Still need to talk about my pegasi friends!
My first friend ever is Soarin. He has a tendency to ask stupid questions, but I don't mind. He says that he wants to become a Wonderbolt, and I always say that I'll see him at his school, The Academy of Flight. We both have to wear uniforms! Well, at his school, you can choose what color, but at mine, we have to wear raspberry colored ones! Take that Sunshine Glimmer! Anyway, Soarin always replies that I can't fly, but I always say that I'm working on a spell. We do that a lot. He also likes eating apple pie. Whenever he and my other friends come down to the ground, he always goes over to Sweet Apple Acres for pie! It's hilarious seeing him eat.
My second friend is Thunderlane. He's cute! Er..... I mean he's not bad looking........ Ugh! I have a huge crush on him! His coal black coat and mint green/blue mane contrast perfectly. His golden eyes are so pretty..... Thunderlane is Soarin's friend at The Academy of Flight, and is that one kid that seems unpopular, but is at the top of the social charts. He's always with two twins named Flitter and Cloudchaser. Flitter must've came out first, because we somepony refers to both of them, they say Flitter and Cloudchaser. He sometimes looks at me when I'm not looking at him, and actually offered to get a cloud walking spell and fly me up to the Academy! He said it'll take a while to get a spellbook with the spell in it, but he's noble like that.
My third and fourth friends are Flitter and Cloudchaser. They're fraternal twins, meaning that even though they are twins, they don't look the same. They like Thunderlane, so we usually get into arguments about it. We argue a lot! Our friendship works though. Flitter is fascinated with unicorn magic, and Cloudchaser is an adrenaline junkie, so she and her twin always allow me to practiced harmless spells on them. They also like the fact that I do many spell demonstrations, so they get out of The Academy a lot, but in return they give me baskets of raspberries! Yum!
My fifth friend is Spitfire. She comes down to the ground the least. She's Soarin's best friend, right after me. She's intense if you don't know her well. She actually likes puppies and hugs. She's really warm. Like, really warm. She's like a fi- Oh! What still amazes me about her is that she spends winter without anything to keep her warm! She, like Flitter, is also interested with unicorn magic. She's at the top of the class at The Academy, and has 'Drill Sargent Spitty' mode, in which she starts barking orders at everypony. See? Natural born leader, but a really short fuse. Be glad I've never ticked her off! I still wonder what happened to Air Current after she made Spitfire mad?
See, me and my friends have a signal for when we want to hang out. Well, I live near the floating academy, almost a straight shot down, so my friends always are coming down on Saturdays and Sundays. We hung out on Mondays 80% of the time to brood about our days. We never hung out on Tuesdays because I have Filly Scouts. We always met up on Wednesdays. We never hung out on Thursdays, but we partied hard on Fridays! We are very good friends because if one of us is sick or can't make it, we wait for them to get better or visit them. Let me tell you the story of how we met.
Five pegasi foals by the names of Soarin, Spitfire, Thunderlane, Flitter, and Cloudchaser sat at the edge of The Academy of Flight.
Soarin was wearing a cyan blazer, light powder blue pants and a green bow tie, along with black shoes with white socks. Spitfire wore an orange blazer and a red skirt, a yellow tie, and light red shoes with orange socks. Thunderlane wore a mint green blazer, light gray pants, white socks, black shoes, and a golden bow tie. Flitter wore a pink blazer with an equally as pink skirt, purple socks, pink shoes, and a purple bow tie. Cloudchaser wore a purple blazer, a equally as purple skirt, pink socks, purple shoes, and a pink bow tie.
"You sure we should do this?" Thunderlane asked. School had just let out. Cloudchaser playfully pushed him.
"Yes! No risk, no reward!" Cloudchaser declared. That did little to ease Thunderlane's nerves.
"What if we get caught? What would be the reward?"
"Touching grass! Duh!"
"Listen CC," Flitter started. "Thunderlane's just nervous. We're Cloudsdale born and raised. Going somewhere new....." Flitter trailed off as she looked at the long drop.
Soarin was practically bursting. "Let's go! I think I see a unicorn!"
Indeed a unicorn was trotting along a path. That unicorn was Layla, angrily holding an apple in her magic while stomping.
"I see her too! Let's go!" Cloudchaser jumped off of the cloud and spread her wings. The other followed her.
"INCOMMING!" A shrill voice screamed. Just as Layla was about to get the key to open her house, two colts and three fillies landed.
"Wow!" Flitter said. "A real live unicorn!" Layla was taken aback by that statement.
"What do you mean, 'A real live unicorn'? Haven't you seen one?" Layla then noticed their uniforms.
"Oh!" Layla smiled. "You must be from Cloudsdale. Never been in the ground before?"
"No." Spitfire said. "An adrenaline junkie over here," she pointed to Cloudchaser, "wanted to see the ground because of the strange filly walking."
"Spitty!" Cloudchaser exclaimed. "How could you!"
"Your words, not mine." Spitfire replied. Cloudchaser gave up.
click!
"Ya comin' inside or what?" Layla asked from the doorway. They filed inside.
Layla's home smelled like raspberries, and all of the furniture was different shades of blue. Many pictures hung from the wall, the biggest of Layla, her mother, and her father smiling.
"Stop staring and move it!" Layla playfully called. The group of five snapped out of it and were lead to a living room. They each took a seat.
"Tell me your names," Layla said as she took a seat herself. "Starting with Mister Mix-Match," She was pointing to Thunderlane, who was getting nervous.
"H-Hi," He stammered. "I'm T-Thunderlane. N-Nice to meet you!" The rest was a squeak. Layla giggled a little.
"Next!" She said, pointing to Soarin. Soarin smiled a a goofy smile.
"Sup! I'm Soarin and Ilike Apple pie!" Layla laughed as she pointed to Flitter.
"I'm Flitter and I'm interested in unicorn magic!"
"I'm Cloudchaser and Flitter's my twin sister!"
"I'm Spitfire and I'm allergic to Raspberries." Spitfire said plainly.
"Oh," Layla sounded a little down, but perked back up. "I'm Layla and my dad is a raspberry farmer and my mom is a baker!" Layla smiled.
"Now tell me about flying......." Layla began.
And the rest went down in history.
Yup! My friends are great. I love them a lot. Thunderlane's nerves are gone now, and Spitfire's now as hard as nails. Yes. We are an odd bunch, but we work.
We work great.

The Fire Miss Peony's Academy for Wayward Unicorn Fillies
I adjusted my saddlebags as I walked into Class 12-L. Sunshine Glimmer was sitting at Mrs. Chrysanthemum's desk.
"What are you doing at the teacher's desk?" I ask. "The rest of the class isn't here yet, so you can't show anything." Sunshine Glimmer laughs.
"Silly Raspberry Girl!" Sunshine giggles. "I'm practicing my new spell!" Just them I cast one called, 'Dirt and Dust Repell' and Reverse it onto Sunshine.
Her bright pink mane and tail are coated with black soot from some failed spells. Her teal coat has gray dust all over it. Her golden yellow sunglasses that she wears are now dark gray. The only original color of her is her purple eyes.
"Eek!" She shrieks. "Get it off! Get it off!" She lights her horn, and in a flash of yellow, all of the dirt and dust are gone.
"Silly Sunshine Girl!" I giggle. "I'm practicing my new spell!" I smirk. Sunshine frowns.
"We all know that trick. Seriously, what's your new spell?" She asks. I know she's gonna try to learn it before me, so I preform a trick I like to call 'Fireworks Imbrace'. Silently, I chant the words.
Fireworks, Fireworks
In the night,
Hope I don't botch this,
Please let me do it right!
I thought of the colors blue, black, gold, purple, slightly less purple, and pale blue. Fireworks erupted all around me, dazzling Sunshine Glimmer.
"Woah!" She gasps, "What spellbook is that in?"
"Starswirl The Bearded's Illusions and Tricks Volume 6.8," I reply. Sunshine's mouth closes as the fireworks die down.
"I need that book! Forget the spell I was gonna do earlier!" She quickly goes to our spellbook supply. I quickly intervene.
"No!" I begin. "I'm the most powerful unicorn in our class! That spell was difficult for me! Goddess knows what'll be the effects if you don't do it right!" Sunshine scoffs.
"See if I care!" She resumed looking at the spellbooks.
"I have a bad feeling about this." I leave the room to go to the library.
My hoofsteps are silent when I walk into the library. The smell of books assault my nose. I wrinkle my nose.
"Any better Miss Hearts?" I turn and see Mrs. Silent Quill towering over me. I smirk.
"No. Maybe those books in the oven are burning. Might wanna check that." I laugh a little. Silent Quill may look scary and intimidating, but she's really nice. She smiles before levitating me a package about ten times my size.
"Here's all of the spellbooks here," She begins, "try not to explode anything!" She laughs and I do too.
"How many spellbooks?" I ask. Silent Quill thinks for a moment.
"Well, the other classes let me borrow those books, so about 6,460?" She shrugs. "I honestly don't know." I gape for a moment.
"So much knowledge! So many new spells!" I smile wide as I tackle the librarian. "You're the best! How can you even stand us wayward fillies?" Silent laughes.
"I went here. You know class 12-K's teacher?" I nod before she continues. "Miss Peony was in her early 20's when I was in her class. She still teaches like a boring old coot when I was here. Anyway, she asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up.
"I raised my hoof and said 'I want to be a Spell Master'. She looked at me and said, 'Why would you like to be one'. I replied, 'Giving knowledge to other ponies makes me feel good'. She said, 'Why not a librarian? You will have the same desired effect'.
"I began studying librarian protocol. Learning about every author and became this school's old librarian, Ms. Dusty Cover's, apprentice. I began reading every book in this library back then. I studied and helped so hard, that when I turned sixteen, Ms. Dusty Covers turned the library over to me. Now everyday, I flip through my old yearbook and remember my times."
"Aww...." I say. "That's such a sweet story! Too bad the Miss Peony's even more of an old coot!" I stick my tongue out.
"Little Raspberry?" Silent asks.
"Yes Ma'am?" I reply.
"Shouldn't you be in class 12-L?" I look at the clock.
"Oh no!" I cry. "Our piano demonstrations are almost over!" I hug my beloved librarian before struggling to levitate the package of books.
"Thank you! Have a good day!" I call before I'm out of the library.
"Miss Hearts!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum scolds. "You are ten minutes late! What do you have to say for yourself...." Mrs. Chrysanthemum looks at my enormous package.
"What is that?!" She asks. I'm struggling in levitating it, so she helps, turning my raspberry aura into a light green aura.
"Thank you," I say, adjusting my skirt. "And to your first statement, I was at the library picking up all of these spellbooks. Mrs. Quill had every class give her the spellbooks. I just need the spellbooks in our class to complete this."
"Nerd!" A filly name Blue Rose jeers. I roll my eyes.
"Miss Hearts, while I admire your quest for knowledge, you must make it to class on time. Do you understand?" Mrs. Chrysanthemum's stern voice has an air of pride. She's happy because I made it to class late because of the library.
"I understand Ma'am." I say, looking down.
"Good. You may be seated." As I trot back to my seat, Sunshine Glimmer's magical aura wraps my mane around my hooves and I fall down.
"AH! HA! HA! HA!' Class 12-L laughs. I decide to levitate myself to my seat. As I plop down and try to make myself obsolete, Mrs. Chrysanthemum speaks.
"Miss Glimmer, I believe you have a spell you would like to show?" Sunshine grins.
"Yes I do. It's called 'Fireworks Imbrace'!" She proudly states. I lean over to Rosy Posey, the only girl in class who is remotely nice to me.
"Rhyme Time," I say, grabbing her attention. "That spell she's gonna do is hard for a unicorn like her! The results could be terrible!"
"Oh no!" Rosy says, twirling a pieces of rose red hair. "I don't want to die!"
"Ahem!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum clears her throat. "Miss Glimmer is about to preform the spell!" Sunshine began chanting.
"Fireworks, Fireworks
In the night,
Hope I don't botch this,
Please let me do it right!"
Her horn lit as fireworks of many color started to appear.
"Wow," The class says in awe.
"HAHA!" Sunshine cheers. "I'm doing it!"
The horn started sparking. I, immediately worried did one of my flaws.
Yell at ponies when I have no right to.
"ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!" I yell. I TOLD YOU ABOUT HOW COMPLICATED THE SPELL IS! LOOK! THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO GO LIKE THIS!"
"Watch out!" Sunshine screams. A beam of magic narrowly misses me........
.......Only to set the back wall on fire.
"Everypony out! Siren Song! Warn the other classes and Mrs. Silent Quill!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum orders. "Single file line!"
I levitate the spellbooks from our class library and start dragging my package. Soon, Siren Song's shrill voice sounds as my class finishes going without me.
"EVERPONY! GET OUT IMMEDIATELY! A FIRE IS IN CLASS 12-L'S ROOM! EVACTUATE! I REPEAT! EVACUTATE!"
I now understand why Mrs. Chrysanthemum chose Siren Song for the task. Soon, Siren's in the room, taking everpony's things.
She coughs. "What are you doing?!" Fire is licking at me. "Do you have a spell on you?"
"Yes!" I reply. "The flames won't hurt me, you, or the spellbooks! I need help getting my package out!" Siren looks at me.
"Okay!" She yells as the fire's roar grows louder. "I'll help you, but hurry!" She quickly adds her purple aura to mine.
"Okay!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum says. "All of class 12-L please send off your magical signature when I call your name!"
"Rose Quartz!" A powder pink flare shot in the sky.
"Blue Rose!" A deep blue flare shot up.
"Amazonite!" A amazonaite colored flare shot.
"Robin Tweet!" A red flare shot.
"Rosy Posey!" A light pink flare shot.
"Layla Hearts!" No flare went up. "Layla Hearts?!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum whipped her head around frantically.
"Layla's still in the fire!"
Just because I had put up a spell for prevention of the fire eating us didn't mean we couldn't die of smoke inhalation.
"Just a little bit more!" I urged. Siren and I were near the door. Siren was coughing madly.
"Please Layla!" Her voice sounded like rocks. "We need to get out soon!" I focused my magic and a funnel was pumping clean air into Siren.
"Don't talk!" I said. "It'll stop the thing giving you fresh air." Siren nodded as we have one final push and were out the door, package and all.
"Layla Grace Hearts! Siren Warble Song! What were you doing in the fire!" Mrs. Chrysanthemum was crying once she saw Siren's state. A few deep rumbles sounded from the fire, signaling it was gonna blow.
"Everypony! Teleport away!" I yell. I teleport my teacher, my classmate, all of the spellbooks, and myself away just before the fire exploded.
My class shed a tear.
Miss Peony's Academy For Wayward Fillies was gone.
