It was the night of the Grand Galloping Gala in Canterlot. Everypony was there the bearers of the elements of harmony, the Wonderbolts, high class ponies from all over Equestria and of course Celestia herself. But for one ponies today wasn't about the gala as she always plays at the gala her name is Octavia and today was about more to her as it was her birthday and the ponies who know her from Ponyville did take a minute to wish her a happy birthday but one pony hadn't. Vinyl Scratch, Octavia's marefriend and living partner had forgot again. 3 years in a row she wonder if it was even worth bringing up to Vinyl she hadn't taken the hit last year or the year before and it was then and there. Octavia made a though decision but that was for tomorrow she played away on her cello making sure no pony would ask if something was wrong.
Later after the Gala, Octavia got on the train and was heading back to Ponyville. I'll tell her in the morning. Octavia thought to herself it was too late Vinyl would be in bed by now. As Octavia got home she was right in assuming. Vinyl was in bed fast asleep. I'll sleep in the spare bed and talk to her in the morning thought to herself again as she walked into the spare room and quietly closed the door. The next morning Vinyl was in the kitchen making breakfast when Octavia came down.
"Octi why did you sleep in the spare room?" Vinyl asked with a confused look on her face
"Vinyl we need to talk about somthing."
"Is something wrong you seem upset."
"I am, Vinyl what was yesterday?"
"The Gala?"
"What else?"
"Monday?"
"No Vinyl it was my birthday and you forgot it again and I tired of this relationship being a one way deal."
"Octi what are you saying?"
"I'm saying I'm leaving you I'll send for my things when I have a new place."
Octavia walked out the front door leaving Vinyl in shock.
"Octi wait please."
"No I''m sorry Vinyl I hope you fine what your looking for from life goodbye."
With that she was gone the best thing that had ever happened to Vinyl was gone. Vinyl found herself in tears so much so she removed her purple shades to wipe away her tears.
Octavia made her way to Derpy's she was good friends with the mail mare and did love her muffin's. Derpy would house Octavia until she found a new home. She knocked on the door and Derpy's young daughter Dinky answered the door.
"Hello auntie Octavia."
The young unicorn was always happy to see Octavia and seeing Dinky filled Octavia with joy that could only be rivaled by when she was spending time with Vinyl.
"Mommy."
"Yes Muffin."said a voice from the kitchen.
"Auntie Octavia is here."
Suddenly the gray female Pegasus pony flew in and lifted her off the floor in to a hug.
"Octi happy birthday sorry i could stop by yesterday before you left." Derpy said with joy in her voice.
"Thanks Derpy and your ok can I ask a favor from you thou."
"Of course."
"Can I stay here until I find a new home?"
"You and Vinyl are moving is she on her way too."
"No we broke up I'm moving."
"What? But you and Vinyl are perfect for each other what happened?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Well I wouldn't be a good friend if I said no so yes of course you can stay."
"Mommy your going to be late for work."
"Oh muffins. Sorry Octavia i have to get to work my sister will be by later will you let her in."
"Of course thanks Derpy.
"No problem there are muffins in the fridge."
Octavia smiled at her friend then both Derpy and Dinky had to leave quickly to get to work and school respectively on time. It was about an hour later when their was a knock at the front door. As Octavia expected it was Derpy's sister Fluttershy with her pet Angel on her head and a kitten behind her on a lead.
"Octavia what are you doing here?"
"I'm moving in with Derpy temporarily while I look for a new place."
"Oh is Vinyl here too?"
"No I moved out after me and Vinyl broke up."
"Oh I'm sorry to here that."
"Thanks. By the way Derpy didn't get a chance to say why you where coming over. "
"I was coming over with this Kitten it's gift and a pet for Dinky."
"Derpy's so much better at being a mother then we all thought she would be."
"No kidding She's helping me so much with Rainbow Glow as well she is amazing."
"The perfect mother, sister and friend Derpy is amazing."
"Aunt, she's a great aunt too. Octavia will you help me get this place ready for the little guy."
"Of course."
The too ponies began to ready Derpy's home for the kitten doing everything from putting down a litter box and filling it as well as food and water for him. They scattered some cat toys all around for him as well. They were only just finished when Derpy can back.
"Sister, Octi this is perfect Dinky is going to love him."
"She always liked playing with him when I watch her so yeah she will." Fluttershy said smiling.
"Does he have a name sis?" Derpy asked Fluttershy.
"Nope."
"Perfect she have a fun time choosing a name for him too then."
The three ponies waited for Dinky to come home and get the surprise of her young life. Hours later the door of the house opened it was Dinky.
"Hello Muffin did you have a nice day at school."
"Yeah."
"Good I have a surprise for you muffin."
"A surprise mom for me is it muffins?" Dinky said with a lot of excitement.
"Well I did make muffins but they aren't the surprise."
Before Dinky could say anything more to her mother when the kitten meowed.
"You got me a kitten from aunt Fluttershy."
"Yeah he's your new pet."
"Thanks mommy, thanks aunt Fluttershy I love you both.
Octavia smiled at the happy family and thought to herself how much she was looking forward to having a family of her own.

Can Vinyl get Octavia back or is this the end
No that won't do, oh pony feathers I just cant make any good music even my wubs cant make me happy today. Vinyl sighed and look at front door. She really isn't coming back I can't believe I forget again. Tears began running down the cheeks again. I should at least get her something and ask if we can still be friends. Octi loves Ponyville as much as she loves playing her cello so she wouldn't leave I'll go around town asking everypony if they've seen her and I'll buy her those gifts. Vinyl grabbed her bits and left to make things up to Octi. Vinyl went into the music shop her friend Lyra ran and a shop both Vinyl and Octi visited often.
"Hi Vinyl. How it going?
Vinyl turn and saw a female unicorn pony with a magic mint coat, brilliant cyan mane and tail with a white streak, sunglow eyes, and a cutie mark of a lyre.
"Hi Lyra I need to buy gifts for Octi."
"But her birthday was a yesterday. Don't tell me you forgot again Vinyl. What did Octi say when you forgot?"
"She broke up with me."
"She did what?"
"She came home after the Gala and then slept in the guest room, then this morning when she came down for breakfast she said. She was braking up with me and that our relationship was on sided which after thinking about what she said I relished I don't apply myself enough. So I want to get her gifts to apologize and maybe get her back or at least hope she and I can still be friends."
"Well lets pick out the perfect gifts for Octi and get you too back to get her."
"Thanks Lyra."
"No problem."
Back at Derpy's house everypony was having fun with the new kitten who Ditzy named Snow for his white fur.
"Sorry to here about you and Vinyl, Octavia."
"Thanks Fluttershy, being honest I didn't want to leave her but I shouldn't have to sacrifice my happiness for love. Right?"
"Of course not but maybe Vinyl can change?"
"Not likely Derpy you both know Vinyl isn't keen on change."
"Maybe she just needs help I could ask Twi and AJ to talk to her."
"No that's not necessary but thanks anyway it's not their job to help mares with relationship. But I did here about a Doctor who probably could help but Vinyl never wanted to go."
"Could you at least stay friends?" Derpy asked with hope in her eyes.
"Yes I still consider her a good friend. If she still even wants to be friends that is."
Back at the music shop.
"Thanks for your help Lyra. Octi will love these gifts."
"No problem Vinyl. I'm always happy to help good friends. Plus it's good to get the business."
"Well it's time to see if I can save my love life."
"Good Luck."
Vinyl left to find Octi and save their relationship. Lets see she doesn't have any family here in Ponyville her family all live in Canterlot so she mush be at the house of one of our friends. I'll go and see Derpy maybe she knows where Octi is and if I'm lucky maybe she'll be there. Vinyl made her way to Derpy's and knocked on the door but to Vinyl's surprise and delight it wasn't Derpy who awnsered the door.
"Octi please if you really don't want a relationship anymore I'm ok with that but let me give you some gifts to make up for forgeting your birthdays and maybe we can still be friends."
"Okay Vinyl I'm willing to look at your gifts then I'll make my decision."
"Fair enough."
Vinyl then put down her rather full looking saddle bag and took out a cello.
"I bought you the newest cello Lyra had she said you were looking at it for a while."
"Vinyl this is too much."
"No Octi it's not enough I aslo got you these." Vinyl gave Octavia tickets.
"Vinyl are these front row tickets for Bucka Bradley?"
"Yeah and a back stage pass you will get to meet her in pony after the show. I know she's your idol so i got you those for her show in Canterlot next week."
Octavia's heart was beating at a the speed of Rainbow Dash doing a Sonic Rainboom she was remembering why she loved Vinyl.
"And last but not least I booked a session with that Doctor you mention you wanted us to go and see. Octi I want this to work out and for what it's worth I'm Sorry."
"I'm sorry too Vinyl. I love you lets never fight again."
"Deal."
The two mare passionately kissed.
