Princess Celestia was not always the kind, and wise pony that we all know and love. She has been around for a long time, and existed during the primal days of Equestria, when ponies did not enjoy such a wholesome existence, nor did the princess enjoy such a sound mind, or solid set of morals... or emotions. While she has largely forgotten about her darker past, not every pony has.
