Inner Demons
Orders Are Orders!
Load Full StoryNext Chapter"Normal Norman!" Captain Shining Armor was heaving his breath. Storming through the Canterlot Police halls. His dark navy blue eyes darted through each cubical frantically. His hands were trembling at his side, shoulders tense. Not finding what he was looking for, until finally he saw the sight of brown hair sticking out from the side of the cubical. Clenching his teeth, he banged on the side of the cubical which caused Norman to fall down and hit the side of his face on the hard floor.
"Ouch... Sir, what gives?" Norman yawned as he pushed himself up, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"In my office now..." Shining Armor stated in a stern voice, Norman widened his eyes and gulped. Though normally Norman was a pretty lazy officer at times, he maintained pride in his position. He went to his office and smelled the air of an expulsion, or he was going to work a double shift, the possibilities were infinite.
"As you know, there is a case that has been streaming for the past months, the case of Granny Smith's disappearing apples."
Norman scratched his head, he was relived that he didn't get fired.
"Disappearing apples?" Norman replied, raising his eyebrows.
"Yes, you heard me right." Disappearing apples, over 456 apples disappeared suddenly without a trace, causing Granny Smith to almost have a heart attack. Many of our Colts have investigated thus for forever, trying to gather evidence and integrated her neighbors, but nothings come up." He said drinking his coffee.
"What does this have to do with me sir. Do I have to register it as a cold case?" Norman questioned, Shining Armor smirked and stood up slowly, walking towards him. Norman's eyes widened he's worked with Shining Armor for several years now and knew all of his body language. He sighed and seeped down on his desk, he knew what he was about to say.
"I want you camp out in the orchard tonight, see if you can get anything, say for seventeen hours," He ordered, "You can handle it as a young man yourself."
"Whaa, b-but..." Norman whined trying to defend himself, at this point his face looked very sour at his command, he glanced up at the clock, 16 hours... 16 hours... 16 hours... Those numbers are the amount of unfortunate luck.
"But but BUT NOTHING! Orders are orders, you better get to that post or you're fired!" He shoved him out of his office and slammed the door loudly, Norman groaned deeply, he then gathered his personal items from his space, from the sound of Shining Armor voice. It seems he wanted him to set up as soon as possible, he walked out of the Canterlot P.D and then headed to the store to buy some necessities, it was going to be a long camp out, he quickly paid the cashier and drove off in his black mini coop.
(Time Skip: 8 Hours Later)
Norman had set up his camping spot on top of a hill behind Granny Smith's house, the night was a dark as ever with the moon glistening above his head. He could see every tree with already positioned apples on their stems. Within his eyesight, he was tapping his fingers on his service pistol, every few minutes he would adjust his black tie. Sighing dreadfully, he was feeling his eyelids droop from the excruciating pain of waiting for something... Anything...
Norman glared at every tree, there was nothing in sight. The only thing he could hear was a small breeze of the leafs hitting each other softly.
Norman grunted and squinted his eyes, until he lost his temper and slammed his hat on the floor "this was practically insane! What mere Colt has to put up with this! I'm out of here, I don't care if I get fired..." Norman packed up his things and was about to abruptly storm off and leave. That is until he heard some wind noises, and this wasn't coming from the air...
He turned around and noticed somepony with a brown cape levitating its hands and making all the apples levitate with her hand movement, Norman's eyes widened in shock. After waiting for almost an eternity for something to happen, he finally caught his break he's been begging for, Norman crept up to the figure slowly, careful not to touch any leafs on the ground to cause a surprise, he gulped. In all his years as an officer, he's never been at this amount of pressure since his bomb squad drill. Halting to a stop, he aimed his revolver at the figure.
"Freeze dirtbag! You're under arrest!" He announced, he always wanted to say that phrase. the figure looked at him, Norman couldn't see its face because it was covered by darkness.
The figure didn't even look back, it just hissed ran away from the scene, dispelling her levitating powers. Norman dashed off to follow the mystery assailant, Norman didn't want to shoot the target, he wanted this criminal alive so he could show Shining Armor what a job well done really was, he chased her around the red apple orchard for a few minutes when suddenly the suspect tripped on her heels.
"Gotcha!" Norman victoriously shouted, he took off the hood and all of a sudden there was a mare in front of him who was showing distress, and as she closed her eyes teardrops slowly ran down her face, she didn't resist.
"Umm, hello?" Norman questioned, this mare was perceptually odd, inside her teeth her canines were very long and sharp, and her eyes were glossed with a beautiful ruby red look to it.
"This isn't what victory is supposed to be like, this is a nightmare" Norman declared, he tapped her shoulder a few times when all of a sudden she hissed loudly again, Norman hid behind a tree and cowered in fear.
"W-who are you?" He asked softly, still gripped with fear. But trying to maintain his composure, he hadn't seen a mare like this before in his life, why was she about to steal apples from an old mare that Canterlot knows so well, what are her intentions?
