How Derpy And Rainbow Dash Met
Rainbow Dash was walking outside of the Cloudsdale school. It was recess from flight training so that the students could take a break and do any flying if they want. Rainbow Dash noticed the bullies that she knew so well picking on another foal. They had a tendency to do that a lot. She ran over to the bullies to see who they were picking on this time.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“Bullying, what else do you think we’re doing, Rainbow Crash?” Dumbbell said.
“Leave them alone. Now.” Rainbow Dash growled.
“Why should we?” Hoops said.
“Because, this will happen if you don’t.” Rainbow Dash said, as she bucked Dumbbell in the face.
The buck left Dumbbell’s face bruised and slightly bleeding. Dumbbell slowly started to have tears in his eyes and he ran off crying. Hoops watched as the scene in front of his eyes and looked over to Rainbow Dash. She had an angry look on her face to let him know she was serious. He knew not to mess with Rainbow Dash at this moment and he ran off to find Dumbbell.
Rainbow Dash looked at the bullies run off and got a smug smirk on her face at what she did. Most students at the Cloudsdale school knew that Rainbow Dash didn’t really like to be messed with. If they did, they would be in for a beating from Rainbow Dash herself. Rainbow Dash was still a nice filly though, as long as you didn’t get on her bad side.
Rainbow Dash looked over at the student that they had bullied. She noticed that the student was a filly. The filly had a gray coat and a blonde mane. She walked over to the filly to check to see if she was alright. Apparently, she had the same amount of damage Rainbow Dash did to Dumbbell.
“Hey, are you alright?” Rainbow Dash said in a worried tone.
The blonde-haired filly looked up at Rainbow Dash with tears in her eyes. Rainbow Dash saw that her eyes were messed up. She thought that something bad had happened when this filly was younger, which is why she probably got picked on. Finally, the blonde-haired filly spoke.
“Are you going to hurt me?” She asked, quivering.
“No, why would I hurt you?” Rainbow Dash replied.
“I thought you were part of those bullies group.” She said.
“Those guys? Nah, I would never join them.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Really?” She asked.
“Really.” Rainbow Dash replied, extending a hoof.
The blonde-haired filly smiled and grabbed the hoof. She got up, only to fall back down again.
“Are you okay?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“I don’t think I can get up, they beat up my legs pretty badly.” The filly said.
Rainbow Dash thought about this. Okay, I obviously need to get her to the nurse. Stat. I can’t leave her here all hurt. But how will we get there if she can’t move? A light bulb suddenly went off in Rainbow Dash’s head. Maybe I can carry her there? It’s worth the back pain I’ll probably get from carrying her all the way there. Yeah, I’ll do that.
“You okay?” The filly asked, waving a hoof in front of her face.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Rainbow Dash replied, as she snapped out of her thought.
“Okay, just making sure.” The filly said.
“Hop on.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Huh? Why?” The filly asked.
“I’m gonna take you to the nurse.” Rainbow Dash said.
“But then you would end up hurting your back.” The filly replied.
“I don’t care about my back right now. The only thing I care about right now is getting you to the nurse safely.” Rainbow Dash said.
The blonde-haired filly couldn’t believe it. She actually had a friend who cared about her and didn’t care if her eyes were messed up. Slowly, but surely, the filly got onto Rainbow Dash’s back with Rainbow Dash’s assistance and held onto her neck. Rainbow Dash started to run towards the nurse’s office as fast as she could, avoiding the ponies that were in the hallways.
They got to the nurse’s office and they sat down in the chairs. The nurse called the filly to go through the door and she went in. Rainbow Dash waited in the nurse’s office until she was finished. Rainbow Dash just watched some television and waited for the filly to come out. She also looked through the magazine Wondebolts Weekly for news about the Wonderbolts.
After about ten minutes, the filly came out of the room. The filly had some bandages on her and some gauze in some places. Rainbow Dash put the magazine down and got out of her seat. She approached the filly that has just come out of the room. She examined the filly and saw that she was okay. Rainbow Dash realized that she didn’t get her name.
“Hey, I forgot to ask you this, what’s your name?” Rainbow Dash asked, curious to know.
“Ditzy or Derpy, I go by either one. What’s yours?” Derpy said.
“Nice to meet you, Derpy. My name’s Rainbow Dash.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Nice to meet you too, Rainbow Dash.” Derpy said.
“So, if you don’t mind me asking this, what happened to your eyes?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“Well... Sure, why not?” Derpy said.
Derpy’s parents were dropping her off for her first day of school, since Derpy was at the legal age to go to school.
“Now, be nice to the other students, Derpy.” Derpy’s dad said.
“Have fun, we’ll see you soon.” Derpy’s mom said.
“Bye dad! Bye mom!” Derpy said.
With a goodbye wave, Derpy’s parents started to fly home. Derpy turned towards the school and eyed it. She wasn’t really familiar of what a “school” was, since it was her first day. She just decided to roll with it and went towards the building. She went inside and saw that there were multiple classrooms. Suddenly, there was a voice that came from the speakers.
“All students report to homeroom.” The voice said.
Derpy took out her schedule from her bag and checked to see what a “homeroom” was. She looked down at her schedule saw “homeroom” listed on the side. Homeroom: Room 8, Ms. Breeze. She looked at the rooms and saw that Room 8 have a few hooves away from her. She walked over to the classroom and sat down in her seat.
After about five minutes, there came another announcement.
“All students report to your first class.” The voice said.
The students ran out the door to go to their next class. Derpy got up and did the same. She took out her schedule again and checked to see what her first class was. She looked down at her schedule and saw the class number one listed on the side. Class #1: Room 12, Mr. Breeze. She walked down the hallway and found the room at the end of the hallway. She opened the door and went to her seat.
“Hello class, I’m Mr. Breeze.” Mr. Breeze said.
“Hi, Mr. Breeze!” The class said in unison.
“I know some of you may be wondering this, but I’m Ms. Breeze’s brother, not her husband.” Mr. Breeze said.
“Oh, no wonder.” Derpy said to herself.
“So, this class is where you learn how to control your flight speed.” Mr. Breeze said.
Mr. Breeze walked towards the door and told the students to follow him outside. They walked through the hallway until they got to the exit. Mr. Breeze opened the door and let the students out first. He closed the door once the final student got out. Derpy had to squint her eyes a bit, since the sun was really bright today.
“So, line up behind me. I’m going to see how fast you can fly and time you.” Mr. Breeze said.
All the students lined up behind him in single file order. One by one, the students flew as fast as they could. It finally came down to Derpy who was last in line. Derpy stood next to Mr. Breeze, spread her wings, and waited for directions. Mr. Breeze set off the stopwatch and Derpy flew as fast as she could.
It would have been better if she didn’t end up getting blinded by the sunlight. Derpy ending up crashing into one of the pillars out of not being able to see where she was going. She fell onto the cloud holding the pillar and passed out.
Moments later, Derpy regained consciousness and saw ponies standing around her.
“Are you okay, Derpy?” Mr. Breeze asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Derpy said.
“Oh dear, what happened to your eyes?” Mr. Breeze asked.
“What’s wrong with my eyes?” Derpy asking, getting worried.
Mr. Breeze got out a mirror and gave her it. Derpy looked at her reflection and saw that something indeed had happened to her eyes. They were not both looking straight ahead, and each eye were looking in different directions.
All of a sudden, the other students started laughing at Derpy’s misery. They just laughed and laughed and laughed. Probably not even feeling bad that her eyes are like this. Suddenly, Derpy felt her eyes water and ran off crying.
“Derpy! Wait!” Mr. Breeze yelled, but Derpy didn’t hear him and just kept on running.
Mr. Breeze turned towards the laughing students. “You should be ashamed in yourselves.” Mr. Breeze said coldly. Mr. Breeze wasn’t really the stallion that just let something bad go. Suddenly, the laughing students stopped laughing and started to feel some guilt for making Derpy cry.
“So, that’s how my eyes got this way. They have been stuck like this ever since that day.” Derpy said.
“Wow, that must have been horrible.” Rainbow Dash said.
“It was, but I’ve learned to cope with it.” Derpy said.
Derpy and Rainbow Dash got up and walked back into the hallway. They were just walking and talking about other things. All of a sudden, the principal of the school walked up to them with Dumbbell and Hoops behind him. It seemed like they were getting revenge for what Rainbow Dash did. They stuck their tongues out at Rainbow Dash.
“Wow, you actually went to the principal?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“Yeah, now you’re in trouble, Rainbow Crash!” Dumbbell replied.
The principal shushed him and approached Rainbow Dash. He looked next to her and saw that Derpy was walking with her. “Rainbow Dash, come to my office. Bring Derpy along with you.” The principal said. The principal walked to his office with Dumbbell and Hoops. Rainbow Dash did as he said and followed him with Derpy along with.
Once they all got there, they sat down in the seats. Rainbow Dash and Derpy sat next to each other, and Dumbbell and Hoops sat next to each other. The principal obviously sat in the seat behind his desk. Rainbow Dash glared at Dumbbell and he glared back at her. The principal coughed and Rainbow Dash looked towards him, waiting for what he was going to say.
“Now, Rainbow Dash, Dumbbell told me you bucked him in the face. Why did you do that?” The principal asked.
“He bullied Derpy just because her eyes are stuck like that, so I had to put a stop to that.” Rainbow Dash explained.
The principal turned to Dumbbell. “Dumbbell, it’s not nice to bully ponies just because something happened to their eyes. Apologize to Derpy right now.” The principal said.
Dumbell looked down at the ground and back up. He looked towards Derpy and Rainbow Dash. He couldn’t bring himself to apologize, since he never really apologized to nopony. With all his might he said, “Sorry Derpy.”
“Apology accepted.” Derpy said with a smile. Dumbbell actually smiled back at her.
“Okay, I think we’re done here. Rainbow Dash and Dumbbell, you aren’t in any trouble.” The principal said.
“Yes!” Rainbow Dash said.
“You can all go now.” The principal said.
After all that was over, Rainbow Dash and Derpy left the room. Rainbow Dash looked back and saw that Dumbbell and Hoops were going the other way. Rainbow Dash then looked towards Derpy and saw that she looked pretty happy. She looked straight ahead again. There came an announcement and Rainbow Dash and Derpy listened.
“Recess is now over, go back to your classes.” The voice said.
“Well, I guess that’s it Derpy. I’ll see you around.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Bye, Rainbow Dash.” Derpy said.
Derpy looked as Rainbow Dash walked away. She turned to walk back to her class. While she was walking, she thought about her experience with Rainbow Dash today. She was glad somepony didn’t actually make fun of her for once. Somepony who wasn’t rude for once. Somepony who actually was her friend. She was glad that she finally had a true friend who would be loyal to her until the very end.
Rainbow Dash looked back at Derpy, as she walked away. She was surprised how rude ponies can actually be. And she thought that Dumbbell and Hoops were rude, talk about a rude group of students. I can’t believe how rude ponies can actually be. Well, that’s the way life just works, I guess. You can’t always expect ponies to be nice to you all the time, Rainbow Dash thought. Rainbow Dash kept walking back to her class with her usual pride.
Years later...
Rainbow Dash and Derpy have just graduated from high school. They were both happy that they graduated and passed their classes. They were just walking with each other after graduation.
“So, Rainbow Dash, how do you feel?” Derpy asked.
“I feel great, Derpy. Thank Celestia, school’s over.” Rainbow Dash replied.
“Yeah, I know right?” Derpy said.
“So, what do you think you’re going to do now, Derpy?” Rainbow Dash asked.
“I’m going to get a job as a mail mare, since my parents have worked for the post office before. Maybe I’ll follow in their footsteps.” Derpy replied.
“That’s cool.” Rainbow Dash said.
“Well, now that I’ve told you what I want to do, what do you want to do?” Derpy asked.
“I’m going to get a job as a weather mare. Maybe some point in my life, I’ll audition for the Wonderbolts. If I fail to get in, then I’ll just keep on trying.” Rainbow Dash replied.
“Awesome, maybe I’ll see you while I’m doing my job.” Derpy said.
“Ha, if I’m even doing my job. I’ll probably be sleeping on a cloud someplace” Rainbow Dash chuckled.
“Well, maybe I’ll see you sleeping on a cloud someplace then.” Derpy chuckled.
“It was great meeting you, Derpy.” Rainbow Dash said, as she extended her hoof.”
“It was great meeting you too, Rainbow Dash.” Derpy said, as she extended her hoof and bumped hooves with Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow Dash then walked over to the ledge of the cloud surface. She spread her wings and jumped into a dive. She started flying back home to get some rest. Derpy was left on the cloud surface looking at Rainbow Dash as she flew away.
After a while, Rainbow Dash was out of view and all you could see was her signature vibrant rainbow-colored trail. Derpy walked over to to the ledge of the cloud surface and chuckled. Man, I’m going to miss that mare. Oh well, we’ll see each other again in a couple of years. Derpy spread her wings and started flying back home.
