Applejack’s body glistened with sweat. The Sun was directly overhead, and the cloudless sky offered no protection from the summer heat. Her muscles ached, and the lack of sleep she got last night was catching up to her. Carefully, she approached the large apple tree that was fully in bloom with what seemed like dozens of apples. A moment later, all of the apples that previously occupied the branches fell to the forest floor. While some bounced away, now concealed by shrubbery, a majority stayed within the vicinity of the tree.

Soon, they were levitated into two wooden baskets nearby and distributed evenly, until the apples were nearly overflowing out of the basket, similar to the ones that surrounded the outer perimeter of the farm as they stripped each tree of their fruit.
“Woah, Nelly!” Applejack said with her southern drawl, “Ah ‘reckon we are almost done! Thank you so much for the help, Twi!”
“Oh, of course! It wasn’t a problem at all!” Twilight replied. She took a long swig from her water canteen, relieved to find the water was still cool and crisp even with the heat reaching some of the highest temperatures this year.
“We don’t have to carry these all the way back to the farm, do we?” Twilight asked, her voice erring on the side of caution. The last thing she wanted to do was take those all the way back to Sweet Apple Acres.
Applejack smiled. “Nope. Big Mac comes by later with a wagon and loads them up. We just gotta get them filled. Aye have never seen so many apples in a long time.” She pulled a water bottle from her saddlebag and drank greedily from it.
“Alright, ready to head back, Sugarcube?” Applejack asked, putting on her iconic hat that was previously laying next to one of the baskets.
“Yeah,” Twilight answered. She started to notice some pressure on her bladder, but ignored it. “Whenever you are.”
The two began trotting back to Sweet Apple Acres. They had been out for hours, as getting to the very ends of the farm to pick the last of the trees had taken up most of the morning. They chatted and gossiped about current events, their mutual friends, and other random things. The Sun was starting to go down, but without any wind to cool them down, they took frequent water breaks.

Applejack gave her an empathetic look. She wanted to help her friend, but she wasn’t sure if Twilight would be interested in her idea.
“Ya know, Twi. No one is around…” Applejack suggested, letting her voice fall off at the end.
Twilight frowned. “Are you saying what I think you are saying?” She deadpanned.
Applejack blushed. “Ah mean, if you really have to go that bad. And besides, I do it out here all the time, ain’t no biggie!”

Applejack patiently waited for her answer, hoping not to upset her friend. “If you want,” she said slowly, “you could go behind a tree, if you would feel more comfortable.”

“Sure, sweetie.” Applejack replied. She walked over to a nearby tree and pulled off some leaves. As Twilight watched her walked over, she could’ve swore that AJ was swaying her hips on purpose. Applejack walked back and handed her friend the leaves.

Once she was ready, Applejack and Twilight Sparkle continued until they reached the barn of Sweet Apple Acres. Their, they unloaded their saddlebags into the tool shed inside.
Before Twilight left, Applejack stopped her. “Hey Twi, just in case you uh, ever have to ‘water the plants’ outside, I should probably show you how to do it without get yer pee everywhere.”
Twilight slowly nodded in agreement, not entirely sure where this was going.

“Uhh, Twi?” Applejack said,
“Yes?”
“I could use some ‘help’ tomorrow. Maybe you can come over in the morn’?” Applejack asked, carefully choosing her words.
Twilight knew this was a critical moment. After today, she certainly felt she wanted to be more than just friends with Applejack, and the country pony certainly showed interest in her. Twilight smiled.
“Sure. See you tomorrow then!” Twilight answered. She quickly trotted over and gave Applejack a hug, wrapping her hooves around her neck. Applejack happily returned the hug, before letting Twilight go back home to prepare for tomorrow.
