Hopes Dashed

Rainbow Dash was clearing the clouds for a temperate summer morning, when, in a flash, Soarin, captain of the Wonderbolts, had appeared in front of the cyan pegasus. "Hello, Rainbow Dash" said Soarin. "It is my pleasure to give you the opportunity to join the Wonderbolts". Rainbow was stunned. She had never been so excited in her life. She responded quickly with "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!". Soarin was delighted. He then said "Great, you start with an audition on our signature track in Canterlot tomorrow at 9".

Twilight was just cleaning the library with Spike, when suddenly, Rainbow Dash crashed in, destroying what was the cleanliness of the lilac unicorn's home. Twilight, of course, was furious. However, she managed to keep her rants inside and asked "Dashie, what's got you so excited?!". "I just got accepted to join the Wonderbolts!" responded the exalted pegasus. "This is the best day EVER!!!" She said quickly before she flew off, barely able to wait to tell her other friends about her honourable achievement.

After a long day, Rainbow Dash needed some rest for the next morning, for she was excited for her first race against the ponies she had idolized for so long.

When she got up the next morning, she used the Sonic Rainboom to bolt across Equestria, making it to Canterlot within 2 minutes. When she arrived, she was surprised to see all of her friends and even the Princess in the skybox above, where she also saw Soarin and Spitfire chatting about the race. "YOU CAN DO IT, DASHIE!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie. "I know you can" whispered Fluttershy. "Thanks guys!" Rainbow dash responded, "I'll try my best!".

Soarin then said, "Alright, Rainbow Dash, we want you to do 20 laps around the track. We'll time you and if you make the final lap in under 3 minutes, you can officially call yourself a Wonderbolt!". "ARE YOU READY?" said Soarin into the megaphone. "OF COURSE I am!", said Rainbow Dash, with an excited tone of voice. "On your marks....get set.......GO!".
