Some time in the future, nuclear fallout from the Coda Wars have wiped out entire species across the planet. The ponies and other residents, that remain on-world, own pet machines that were created by Pexus, a robotics corporation. The Pexus corporation also makes sythetic equestrian companions (SEC's) for off-world colonies. These "androids" are banned from the Equstian Republic, the Reorganized Gryphon Democracy, and basically the entirety of the main planet.

Tracer is a bounty hunter hired and paid to track down and "retire" any rogue and dangerous SEC androids that are hiding in plain sight.
