The Grand Galloping Gala was the most greatest event of the year, a time to gossip and eat some of the most delicious foods ever found. And the once in a lifetime deal to meet the princess. The only problem were getting the tickets, the golden tickets that would allow you a big chance that's too good to pass up. Who ever had the ticket would instantly be popular. More than you would expect.

"Dude, you were crazy last night!" Thunderlane and his best friend Star hunter were at the coffee shop Pony bucks, refueling themselves from Thunderlane's birthday last night.

"I wasn't THAT drunk!" said Thunderlane.

"You kissed nine mares, three stallions, and the inside of a toilet saying-and I quote- was your baby!"

"Oh...wait... did Cloudchaser come?!" Thunderlane had feelings for her for a while, but he didn't know if she liked him back.

"No, not really."

"Why didn't you ask her to the party!" said Thunderlane.

"Because I was too busy laughing at you!".Thunderlane still wished that Cloudchaser was there, her crazy mane and blue hair made go day-dreaming.

"Hello! EARTH TO STALLION!"

Thunderlane snapped back to reality. Still thinking about her.

"Dude, why can't you ask her on a da-"

"No!"

He shoved his head in his hooves and looked down. It seemed too embarrassing to ask, plus she's bisexual, a lot of pretty Mares and Stallions in cloudsdale. He was at least hoping he could catch her drunk...

"Well I gotta go, Rumbles waiting for me."

He said goodbye to his friend, payed his tab, and flew out of the coffee shop. It was a good day at least, not too much clouds and just the right amount of heat. As he flew through the great city of cloudsdale, something caught his eye, laying on a single cloud. As he went towards it, it uncovered a golden ticket. It said...

THE GRAND GALLOPING GALA

IN CANTERLOT

ADMIT ONE.

He couldn't bielieve his eyes. There was a speech from the princess yesterday that the tickets were all sold out. But this time, Thunderlane just got a stroke of luck. He picked up the ticket with His mouth and raced to his home.

Thunderlane shoved the ticket in his drawer next to his bed, he knew any pony would want it, the gala was the most epic time of year! That ticket would get him plenty of opportunities. Rumble, the small Pegasus filly, came into the room.

"Big bro? Whats that?"

He had caught Thunderlane shoving the ticket.

"Oh it's nothing much, just a ticket to the gala."

"The Grand Galloping Gala! can i go?!"

"Sorry Rumble, there's only one, and your too young any ways! Might get Blossomforth to babysit you."

Rumble sighed, too depressed, he left. Thunderlane had more good plans for the gala anyways, he would give the ticket to Cloudchaser. Giving her the opportunity that only lasted once a year would certainly make her fall in love with him. Seemed like a good plan. He looked out his window. Luna lifted up the moon over the horizon and Thunderlane felt blaze of comfort over him. He jumped on his fluffy cloud bed and fell asleep, like at the party last night.

*Time to ask her* Thunderlane thought. He was about to enter cloud park, a beautiful fun paradise for all of the Pegasus. Cloudchaser was with her friends gossiping about the day. He was about to ask her on the date, in his saddle bag was the ticket to the gala, a huge sacrifice that was worth to give her. He was just a few yards away when he tripped on a log he didn't see in front of him. As he tripped, the ticket that would win Cloudchaser's heart flew out of his bag and into another mare's hooves, casually Derpy's. She picked up the the paper and looked at it for one close second.

"A TICKET TO THE GALA?!" she yelled. and instantly, all of Cloudsdale's Pegasus payed attention to the gray mare. Then a rumble erupted and it seemed all of the population of equestria was running toward them. Out of fright, Derpy dropped the ticket and flew away. Thunderlane picked it up with his mouth and just stood there. The Pegasi were surrounding him asking questions like...

"Is that really the ticket?!'

"Can i have it?!"

"Didn't i tell you you look cool?!"

They were all looking at him with distinct eyes and colorful smiles. But he didn't wait until some pony asked to marry him! He flew out of the crowd, but they followed him. He entered his home and locked the door tight and stepped back, a sigh of relief came over him. Then there was a banging at the door, next, a wave of mares and stallions begging for the ticket, they all came until he was surrounded in his own home. Then an unknown mare came to the front. Cloudchaser. She carried the I-really-want-it face. Thunderlane locked out all the voices around him and onto Cloudchaser. He just listen to her begging.

"I'll...wash your mane! Or take care of Rumble! Maybe i will... GO ON A DATE WITH YOU!"

Thunderlane, was stunned. All the pressure of the ponies around him and Cloudchaser was just too much. He was a nice guy who liked Cloudchaser, but his niceness really got him this time. But he just did the next thing he could think of with the ticket. He ate it.

Not really swallow it, just put it on the side of his mouth pretending to.

Every pony in the room gasped. From niceness to anger, the crowed called him dreadful names. Then left in disappointment, but not Cloudchaser. She just looked at him for a while until every pony were gone. Then she straightened herself herself up and looked down, kicking dust.

"So..." She started.

"About that date."

He couldn't believe what he was hearing, she didn't know that the ticket was still intact. Was she serious?

"Pick me up at eight tomorrow okay? " with nothing more she darted out the window. Once she was out of the room. Thunderlane spit out the ticket, then quickly shoved it into his bed drawer again. Now since that situation was taken care of, back to the subject at hand, the date.

He couldn't believe it, a date with the mare of his dreams! He didn't ask her but, eh... what can you do? Tomorrow at eight. Tomorrow at eight. Tomorrow at eight! He kept thinking. This one big chance! But, wait. He looked back at the expression on her face. She seemed to really want the ticket. But what if it was just a bribe? Doubt came over him now. He wasn't sure if it was just a prank or something to mess with him. He didn't know what to do. But the only logical thing he could think of was to pick her up tomorrow, and see how things go.
