Hello, my name is Sportsy Sketch. I'm just a unicorn like any other.
Well, that would pretty much be a lie.
I don't have friends like most other ponies do. Everyone else makes it look so easy to make friends. One minute they're complete strangers, the next they're best friends.
I mean, it isn't too surprising. I have a very shy personality, I can barely talk to someone if they're talking to me. Sometimes I feel bad because maybe they think I'm ignoring them. I hope that's not the case. Everyone deserves the same treatment as the others in my thoughts.
But even though I may be shy around other ponies, I can be crazy and talkative once you get to know me. The only problem is that no one knows that, and no one really cares. They already have friends, nopony wants to be friends with the shy one.
Anyway, I'm kind of known for my artistic ability. My cutie mark might be a soccer ball and a pencil, but drawing will always be my strongest talent.
Enough about me! I also have an older sister whose name is Phoenix, and she takes care of me while our parents are away. They‘ve been gone for quite a while now, ‘taking care of business', as Phoenix says. I saw them last when I was 6, and I have no idea where they really are. I really hope they're alright, and they return soon.
Phoenix is a total music lover. Everywhere she goes she either has her little MP3 player or she just blares it as loud as she can for everyone to hear. Don't get me wrong, music's awesome. I'm also guilty of taking my MP3 player out. But I can't stand music turned up so loud that your ears start to ring. Other than that, she's the perfect sister. She's fun, caring, and easy going.
Like I said, a mainly normal life, and a pretty great one at that. I am 13 at the moment, and I go to a middle school like any other. I always kind of dreamed of being one of Celestia's students at the School for Gifted Unicorns, but I'm too nervous to apply, so it probably won't happen. I don't have much of a special talent, anyway. When will drawing and sports come in handy? It's nice and fun and all, but I almost wish I had a more important talent. Something that could have gotten me into Celestia's school.
I shouldn't complain. I'm special in my own way, and there's no way to change that. After all, my one and only friend likes who I am.
Her name is Minty Sweet. We've known each other since Magic Kindergarten. On the first day of school, I found out she was sitting right next to me. I was super jealous of her. Her hair was so perfect, and her desk was always so organized. She could sing beautifully and her stories were the best. The next day, I tried to talk to her at recess. She seemed lonely, sitting on a bench in the corner of the playground. This was the perfect chance to ask her if she'd be my friend.
Minty was very eager to say yes as soon as I asked her. Then she poured her heart out, telling me all about her life and everything. That one day lead to several more years of friendship. It almost seems like fate, me and her against the world.
That finishes up the introduction. Now that you know my background, I think we can get on with the story!
