"INTRUDER ALERT THERE’S A CHANGELING IN THE CASTLE" Boomed Celestia's voice on the intercom.
"A changeling's in the castle?!?!" asked a questioning Flash Sentry.
"PROTECT THE ELEMENTS!"
"WE NEED TO PROTECT THE ELEMENTS!" he screamed galloping down to the vault of the elements.
"Hey can I have some assistance here?", asked an exasperated Princess Twilight, yanking on the thick door. 'Wait a second,shouldn't she know how to open it, nah I guess not, she'd only been Princess for about a week.'" "Okay okay, I got it." he said out of breath, activating his magic to open it. "It may take a min.."
"INCOMING!" screamed a voice around the bend. It was Snowflake, of course, and he was galloping down the hall at full speed (he couldn’t fly very fast, but he could still run like the wind.)He crashed straight into the vault with a boom and collapsed, shaking his head he said "Hurry hurry hurry hurry" The vault unlocked with a metallic scraping sound and they all hustled in.

There, standing in the doorway was none other than, somepony? He was a unicorn, grey coat with a black mane and a tornado for a cutie mark. He was carrying some sort of green, slimy bundle on his back. Flash was immediately up and running at the stranger, his royal guard training kicking in. The stranger easily teleported away, leaving a slightly darkened floor where he stood before. "Oh, don't be like that. I'm only here to help." he said enthusiastically, "besides, did anyone happen to catch a changeling on their way here? No? Not at all? Well then we still have a problem."
"And some slime." Flash said quietly, poking at the stuff. Inside was Princess Mi Amore Cadenza. She was visiting from the Crystal Empire on royal business and obviously had gotten caught up in whatever was going on. She looked like she was sleeping but she wasn’t moving an inch. Flash pulled a bit of the goop off.
“It’s fine, I’ve chased off plenty of changelings. They’re mindless idiots who like to come barging into the castle at the most unexpected of times as if they live here. Like you. No offence… Augh” he let his disgust be known as the goop tried to crawl up his arm. The mysterious stallion picked it up in his hoof and incinerated it. “I’m pretty sure if you managed to chase them off then they’re nothing like me.”
“Whatever.”
"Look we need to find this changeling. It's already gotten past our defenses.!" said the mysterious unicorn. In the dark castle courtyard a changeling is hiding against a wall, two royal guards are around the corner. It then changes into Princess Luna and walks up to the guards. Oblivious to the danger the guards let it past. Then, as soon as it gets past, it kicks them both in the head and they fall to the ground knocked out. "You've seen what it's done to our friends!" Princess Mi Amore Cadenza is on her balcony, looking out on the bustling city. Suddenly, the door slides open with a small squeak. She turns around to see a changeling, running at her full speed , it pounces on her but she sidesteps, and charges. But the changeling is too fast for the Princess of love. It flies onto her back and bites her, the venom slowly knocking her out. She practically oozed love, sh would be a nice snack for the Queen"And worst of all, it could be anyone in this room!" Vinyl Scratch is leaving the castle party for a drink, the party’s wild and she needed to cool off. Suddenly, there’s a rustling in the bushes behind her. A changeling jumps out and hisses. Vinyl charges, her horn a sharp, deadly weapon. The changeling move out of the way and grabs her, putting her into a chokehold. In a burst of green fire it transforms into a perfect copy of the DJ. "No" she whispers as she sees her own eyes, cold and hard. Almost like an insect’s. "aaaugh" She's kicked in the face, sent sprawling backwards in the rough dirt. Her glasses, flung into air start falling. The Vinyl imposter puts them on and sneers. “It could be you, it could be me, it could even be the pri..." He's sent backwards by a buck directly to the windpipe, crumpling onto the ground.
"What?" asked Flash, "It's obvious, he's the changeling. Watch he'll turn back any second now, aaaaany second." "Uh Flash. Hey Flash. Flash, you there? FLASH!" yelled Snowflake.
"What is it this time. I swear if you say you can’t find your wings again I’ll..."
“No, but I did notice someone who doesn’t have wings. Look at the Princess."
“You’re right, she doesn’t. Wait a minute, she’s the changeling!” said Flash, a little too loud.
"So it seems that I’ve been found out." said the fake Twilight "Though you must be very dense to not have noticed until now.” Flash and Snowflake looked at each other nervously. “You know, royal guards work really really hard and you might be a little sleep deprived." she cooed as she turned back into the changeling, spewing some sort of gas from its mouth. “I'll see you when you wake up.” it said, still using Twilight’s voice.

The changeling walked around its pods, full of the ponies it defeated. Chrysalis would reward it greatly. What it didn't notice was the corpse of the would have been Sherlock twisting and turning, becoming longer and lankier. Limbs contorting, growing mismatched. Head growing an antler and some sort of goat horn. The changeling turned around to see the body was nowhere to be found. "Where did that dead pony go?" It asked itself contemplating where the body went.
Then, as a tall and shadowy figure rose behind it the changeling heard Discord, god of chaos (and detective stuff, self proclaimed of course) whisper right next to its head. "Right behind you."
