"She really said that to you?"

"Yep, every word." The stallion said.

Dash giggled slightly as she flashed an apologetic smile at her Coltfriend.

"Sorry. Her hearts in the right place... she was just trying to look out for her sister. But I think that testing you on it was a bit obvious."

"Ah, don't worry about it. She seemed quite fun other than that. Isn't she also the one who you told me was really good on her scooter?"

Dash nodded her head while looking down at her feet. "Uh huh..."

"Um... Rainbow, are you ok?"

Her head snapped up to look at Soarin with an expression that he had only seen once. It matched the one when he had accused her of sending Spitfire the fake note, when he told her that she would be banned. She looked worried.

"Yeah, its just... uh... I have started to give her flying lessons."

He nodded signalling for her to continue.

"A filly at her age should have been able to fly for a while now but,... She just can't seem to get off of the ground as easily as the others. I don't want to think about it much but I have to wander wether if she will get there after a lot of training or wether... wether she won't get it at all."

Soarin looked at her with understanding. He could see the complex of the filly's situation and why Rainbow was hesitant to get Scootaloo's hopes up for nothing.

"I shouldn't worry about it too much. When I was a young colt, I could've sworn I had stunted wings. Everypony else was buzzing around quite happily but I just didn't have big enough wings for it. But after years of training, I suddenly had a growth spurt, wings and all. After that, you never saw me on the ground. She will probably have the same thing happen to her. I definitely doing some wing exercises to help her muscles develop so that when she can fly, she will leave the others in the dust."

Rainbow looked at him in a state of awe. Slowly, her expression melted into the most grateful of smiles.

"Thanks Soarin, I needed that."

They carried on walking as the station drew nearer to them.

"I can see the station there! Have you got the-"

SPLASH!

A rushing taxi driver sped past causing a large puddle to engulf the couple in a tsunami of water.

They just stood there. The cold water was dripping off of every inch of Soarin's body causing him to shiver as droplets made their way down his back. As the droplets of the water sunk in its icy fangs, the pair froze to the spot, eyes shut tight as if it would somehow make the sensation go away. It was like when you have someone with arachnophobia asking wether they have a spider on their back, frozen with fear.

After the initial shock value wore off, the two ponies glanced at each other, their eyes wide and their mouths gasping for air.

"Well, that's one way to kick off the evening." Rainbow said with a slight laugh.

It was contagious.

"Well, you know that I love to start things with a splash!"

More laughter.

"Jeez, that was a bad pun..." Dash chuckled punching him lightly on the shoulder.

Soarin smirked. "If you really thought it was that bad, why did you laugh then Dashie?"

He had decided to push his limits by using her nickname he had learnt from Pinkie Pie.

To his surprise he was met by a mumble and her pushing her fringe over her face though despite her best efforts, a slight tinge of red was visible on her face.

Raising an eyebrow, Soarin brought attention to the awful attempt at covering it. "Are you, the Rainbow Dash, blushing?"

Straight out the frying pan and into the fire.

As soon as the words left his mouth, she shrunk back in on herself putting both of forelegs in front of her face. The mare was acting like a filly who had been caught stealing from the cookie jar and trying to hide the guilty expression. She looked adorable.

Suddenly, Rainbow's eyes met his which brought a smile to the mares face.

"S-says you." She giggled from behind a hoof.

He had not even felt his face heat up at the time. Darn it, why did she have to be so cute.

He smiled nervously, while raising a hoof up to cover the cheek that Rainbow had closest to her.

The silence that settled between them caused a slight awkwardness to appear in the air. The two avoided each other's gaze and looked around their surroundings a little before running out of places to look.

"Uhem... Maybe we should start heading to the station to dry up?" Soarin suggested, trying to escape the lingering effect of their last conversation.

"Y-yeah." Rainbow Dash agreed while nodding.

With the first obstacle evaded, they managed to carry on walking to arrive at the station.

While Rainbow Dash went to go and dry her dress with the hoof dryer in the filly's room, Soarin had to try and dry his blazer mainly in the Colts.

While holding it underneath the dryer, Soarin suddenly smelt a strong burning smell. At first, it didn't really bother him as they were at the train station and it didn't really have the smell of burning clothing either. But after a while, he began to become worried. It wasn't the blazer burning, it was the contents of the pockets that was.

Coming to that sudden realisation made Soarin bring the blazer from under the dryer quickly to check it's pockets.

Keys, no. Wallet, no. Aftershave, no.

Suddenly his hoof skimmed two very burnt pieces of paper.

At first glance, it was nothing that important but to Soarin, he almost passed out.

It read on the front of both of the pieces of paper:

Party name: Skies (Soarin)
Dinner for two, Canterlot express, carriage 3.

It was their tickets for the train.
