Fireworks

To start the day, a purple unicorn mare with a red, pink, blue, and periwinkle mane looked in a mirror.

"Well Firework Shimmer," she said to herself, "today's another day. Time to get some breakfast. Time. To. Work." She was fully aware that nopony could hear her, she actually just wanted somepony to talk to.

"Oh Stop it Glimmer!" She replied to herself. (Glimmer was Firework's middle name.)

"No! How could I? Such a nice and lovely mare, Such soft hair, you always sh-" Firework was cut off by a rude mare's voice.

"We know you like to hear yourself talk, but get a move on. Moonglow wouldn't want you to be late, now would she?"

"Ugh! Rain Stream! I was trying to get myself pumped!" Firework yelled.

"Well, us special effects ponies wouldn't want the best firework handler in Equestria to be late?" Rain Stream replied.

"Again." Rain added. Firework scoffed.

"Well, tell Minnow to check the fireworks. Tell Moonglow that I'm helping Commander Soarin."

"Firework Glimmer Shimmer! Lying to Moonglow?! The Lead special effect pony?! You have to be crazy!" Rain Stream scolded. "Open this dang door too!"

"Streamie," Firework said opening the door, "for a turquoise and light blue mare with a waterfall cutie mark, you really need to chill."

"Firework. I will break out your other names." Rain Stream knew she had Firework.

"Okay. Fine. Let's grab breakfast and report to work." Firework said, a frown upon her muzzle. Rain smiled.

"Go grab your ID badge and let's go." The bossy and rude tone was now replaced with a victorious one. A few seconds later, Firework's badge was around her neck.

"Okay. Let's see what poor excuse of a breakfast the mess hall's serving." Firework trotted in front of Rain.

"You forgot to close your door!" Rain called after her coworker.

"Close it for me, Streamie!" Firework repiled. Rain closed the door and galloped after her friend.

"What are we gonna do with you, Firework Shimmer?" She muttered before turning the corner.

"Why are you late? Again?" Moonglow asked. "Miss Stream, go check on Squad Two." Firework took that time to try and escape. "Miss Shimmer, stay right here."

"Aww! I thought I could just see if Minnow was treating the fireworks properly!" Firework pouted. "You know how I take my job seriously!" Moonglow frowned.

"You take your job as seriously as somepony takes a ballerina penguin." Moonglow replied flatly.

"Well still! I love my job!" Firework said.

"Perhaps a bit too much. Now back to my first question. Why. Are. You. Late?" Moonglow's galaxy purple eyes stared into Firework's sapphire blue ones.

"Well you see, I was Uh..... I was....... I was helping Surprise! She wanted some hoofcrafted yellow, purple, and white fireworks!" Firework pointed to her cutie mark, red, pink, blue, and periwinkle fireworks.

"Sure. I'll make sure to talk to Surprise about the fireworks." Moonglow's pure white horn lit with a purple aura. A clipboard floated to her. She scribbled for a moment, and then put the clipboard back.

"Okay. Miss Shimmer, please report to office-" Moonglow was cut off by Firework.

"Office Three dash Eight dash Kay?" She said. Moonglow smiled a little. The little bundle of energy had finally learned something.

"Good. Miss Stream, Miss Spectacular, and Miss Flower should be waiting." Moonglow instructed. Firework smirked.

"Which twin?" She asked. "Rain Stream or Minnow Stream?" Moonglow realeased a hearty chuckle.

"Minnow! Rain is quite frankly, a pain in the flank." Moonglow said. "Now, go. Next time you're late I won't be so easy on you next time."

"Yes Ma'am!" Firework saluted, and galloped off.

"That Firework Glimmer sure is something!" Moonglow mused.

"Alright! Listen up!" Firework called as she walked into Office 3-8-K, AKA Blooming Firework Stream Spectacular Territory.

"We need a dozen hoofmade yellow, purple, and white fireworks! Surprise needs them pronto!" Firework gestured a hoof at Blooming Flowers.

"You!" Firework said. "Go check on those custom Wonderbolt fireworks."

"On it Ma'am!" Blooming Flowers, a unicorn mare with a pink coat and a light green mane said.

"Love Spectacular!" Firework pointed to a hot pink unicorn mare with a midnight blue mane.

"Go sound the 'Firework's gonna possibly burn this building down alert'. After that, start working on Surprise's fireworks."

"Yes Miss Firework Glimmer Shimmer Boss!" Love Spectacular exclaimed.

"Minnow!" Firework turned to Rain Stream's identical twin. "Go work on Soarin's custom order for Rainbow Dash!"

"Oh. Um..... Ma'am?" Minnow meekly said.

"Yes Minnow?" Firework replied. Minnow gulped before continuing.

"We don't anymore cyan fireworks. We ran out after Lightning's birthday. We also need more cyan dye and aquamarine dust." Minnow's voice went near silent at the end, Firework had keen ears, so she heard every bit.

"Set back!" Firework called. "No more cyan! I'll go into The Vault to get more. I'll be back in five." Firework left Office 3-8-K.

"I'm back!" Firework exclaimed. She had some cyan wrappers, gunpowder, cyan glitter, cyan dye, and twenty bags of aquamarine dust.

"Oh goodie!" Love Spectacular exclaimed. "The alarm wasn't working, so Rivet's fixing it. Test launches today are gonna be delayed for about three to four hours."

"No!" Firework yelled. "How could it take that long?"

"Not to be disrespectful Ma'am, but Rivet needs to cover the whole building. At his fastest rate, he'll be done in about three hours. Please don't relocate me!" Minnow said, a mix of meekness and scared tailless in her voice.

"Oh! Didn't think about that. Sorry!" Firework said. Her voice switched to business mode.

"Minnow, go finish Soarin's order. Blooming, Spectacular, and I are gonna start on Surprise's order. Move out Team Blooming Firework Stream Spectacular!" Firework cheered.

"WE MAKE THINGS GO BOOM!" The group cheered. A knock sounded. Firework trotted up to the door.

"Welcome to We Make Things Go Boom, how can I help you?" Firework waited a little before a voice replied.

"The problem with the button was a faulty wire. Didn't help that it was tha main one, but I fixed it." Rivet said. Firework's mouth dropped open.

"It should've taken you three hours just to get the main wire out! How did you finish so quickly?!" Firework asked.

"All I had to do was add a connector." Rivet replied.

"Well Rivet, it's lunchtime. Girls, wrap up the remains of Surprise's fireworks. C'mon let's go to lunch together." Firework quickly scribbled something on a clipboard, opened the door, joined Rivet, and left with Blooming, Minnow, and Spectacular.

"And sixty-two!" Firework finished counting. "Finished! All of Surprise's fireworks are done. Spectacular, go give these to Surprise." Firework put the fireworks in a plain white box and tied it with a purple bow.

"I get that we all know Surprise never ordered these fireworks, but I'll go." Spectacular said, grabbing the box with her magenta aura.

"Good. Bloom, go sound the 'Firework's possibly gonna burn this building down alert'." Firework ordered. Blooming nodded and galloped off.

"Minnow, get ready to set off the Wonderbolt fireworks and Rainbow's fireworks."

"Okay Miss Shimmer!" Minnow grabbed the respective fireworks and teleported outside.

"ALERT! ALERT! FIREWORKS ARE BEING SET OFF! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM GOING OUTSIDE!"

Pew.

Pew.

BOOM!

A burst of light became a picture of Rainbow Dash. Firework's cutie mark shimmered as the picture of Rainbow Dash shimmered.

Pew.

Pew.

Pew.

Pew.

BOOM!

In another burst of light, the Wonderbolts' insignia was in the sky, along with Wonderbolts in blue and gold letters. Firework pressed a button on the intercom.

"This is Firework Shimmer, lead if Fireworks division, calling and end to the fireworks launch test. Please roam outside as much as you please. I repeat, I'm calling an end to the fireworks launch test." Minnow teleported back in.

"Successful launch Ma'am?" Minnow asked.

"Successful launch Minnow Stream." Love Spectacular returned.

"Never. Send. Me. To. That. Wacko's. Room. Ever. Again!" Spectacular roared. Firework held back a giggle.

"Okay!" Firework laughed. Meanwhile, Spectacular spit out a wad of confetti. Blooming returned.

"Sorry I was late. Moonglow wanted to hear about Surprise's fireworks." Blooming Flower said. Firework smiled, rubbing a piece of red confetti off of her periwinkle coat.

"Well girls, time to clock out. Bloom, you're on cleaning duty. C'mon Minnow and Spectacular. Let's get to bed." Firework left the room.

Late night was when Rain Stream came to bed.

"Hey Streamie!" Firework Shimmer said, waving her hoof to her roomie. "Why are you so late? It's Ten O' Clock!" Rain Stream frowned.

"Well, there was a spill in the water to the lava, leaving me to clean it up! Then, Air Swirl, ya know that ice blue stallion with a white mane? Well, he melted the ice! I had to give him more water and Ice Storm, ya know that white mare with the glacier blue curly mane? Well, she and I worked for three hours straight to get half of the ice back!

"Arctic Breeze, my boss is being harder on us! I wish I worked in fireworks with you!" Rain Stream cried.

"Well, I could talk Moonie into letting you try out fireworks........" Firework trailed off as Rain brightened.

"Really?" Firework nodded. "Thanks! I can't wait!"
