Previous Chapter

Miles away from the sleeping kingdom of Aros, the Princess of Equestria was preparing herself for sleep. Princess Celestia lay awake in her bed, trying to sleep. Her day had been filled with paperwork and meetings. The only light to her day, her student, Twilight Sparkle. She was a clever filly and the only thing that could get the Princess’ mind off of her heartache. Losing Luna still held a great burden on Celestia’s heart. After hours of tossing and turning, she finally crept into a state of deep slumber.

That is not to say that she would sleep for long………..

On the other side of the castle, two hooded figures crept up the walls on a rope. Dodging the patrolling Pegasi guards that flew around, they expertly jumped in through an open window. The room was filled with pictures of old Royals, underneath them their crowns, laid on plush cushions were covered with glass cases. All around lay precious jewels that had belonged to the royals of old, each King and Queen of Equestria that had passed, was honored by placing there portraits and jewels in the Jewel Room.

A Spectacular spectacle for visitors, the two uninvited intruders did not pay heed to any of the precious gems and stared at the door, listening in silence. The longer figure crept up to the door, putting its head against the wooden keyhole. After a few minutes, five boned fingers emerged from the cloak and turned the knob. The door creaked and silently swung out into a deserted hallway. There was not a guard in sight.

The two figures sped through the shadows, peering at corners and slinking into the shadows. Both were travelling at great speeds but were interrupted as a guard turned a corner. The longer shadow yanked the smaller one as it clinged to the ceiling. The guard looked around, his face scrunched and eyes wide. Shaking his head he went on patrolling the halls.

As soon as he turned a corner, both shadows landed neatly on the floor. Running forward, they turned left and stopped in front of a door.

The door was covered with shiny metal, its surface sharp and rugged. In the middle lay the cross sword lightning emblem of the Proelian royal family. Locked and sealed the door was illuminated by two large troches at its sides, which held blue flames.

The figures moved forward and with a swish of its hand, the longer shadow broke the lock, pushing the door open and stepping inside. The smaller figure followed, stumbling over the vines that encased the old room. Dust lay all over the floor, spider webs decorated the walls and there was an eerie silence, as if they were the first to enter in many years. There was a soft blue glow in one corner, while a yellow one incased its opposite wall.

The larger shadow stepped towards the blue light, gingerly, making sure not to tread on any vines. His partner; climbed over the larger ones. Both figures slinked towards the light. The yellow light growing further and further away from them as they did. Entranced by the blue spectrum of crystals that had begun to spring on the vines, the smaller figure stooped down , only to be grabbed by the hem and pulled towards the heart of the glow. Silently they turned and ducked underneath an outstretched piece of vine and stopped. The small figure fell on his bottom as his partner dropped him, the only part of his face; his eyes staring at the object that lay before him. In a glass case laid a beautiful bejeweled key. Its body covered in four different types of jewels, each representing the four noble families of Aros. The first gem being in the shape of a snake, a green emerald. The second in the shape of a fox, was orange, a garnet. The third was shaped as a wolf, a blue sapphire. The last one represented the royal family, a ruby in the shape of a dragon.

This key floated in its glass case. The long hooded figure stepped forward, silently reaching for the glass case. His fingers were about to pry open the case, only to hear the door creak. With one bound, the figure grabbed his partner and leaped into the shadows.

Celestia sprung upwards, her body drenched in sweat, her tricolored mane frizzled and her irises bloodshot. Springing out of her covers, the princess of Equestria tied the belt of her nightgown and threw open the door, shouting for the guards.

The castle was filled with her hoarse and commanding voice, as guards raced the halls, opening doors and checking corners. Celestia flew, her wings spread open and her hands shooting a magic aura as she telepathically communicated her orders to each one of the royal guards.

“Check every room, every corner, every nook and cranny of this castle. Someone is here, someone who does not have clearance. Find them and bring them to me.”

The princess soon landed in front of the door that our two shadows had opened. The royal’s eyes scanned it for anything unusual and stopped at the lock; Broken and hanging open, the result of dark magic. Clapping her hands, two guards appeared beside her. Celestia nodded her head and both Earthians drew their masons and swords. Silently she opened the door and stepped forward.
