//-------------------------------------------------------// Supernova Chronicles -by MyLittleTails- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Gold and Silver //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Gold and Silver Goldheart and Silver Balloon lived together, with their parents, in Baltimare. After all, they were just fillies. The twins always worked together, laughing and playing with each other. Gold and silver go well together, after all. Goldheart woke up and found darkness. She couldn't really see anything, and couldn't use a magic spell. As a filly of the earth, she had no horn, and unlike her twin sister, no wings. She stumbled around in the dark for a bit, until she found the light. She turned the lights on, and saw that her sister was in bed, still sleeping. Goldheart frowned. She didn't care if it was Night Day, she wanted to play. Silver Balloon was having a great dream. She dreamed about owning a big stage where she could perform for all of the city. Then things started shaking? That shouldn't have been part of the dream, but Silver didn't care. Shaking made a lot of things sound funny or do weird things. But then a voice called out: "Silver... wake up... Silver..." "Goldheart?" Silver thought. "Is she- oh right, it's Night Day. Goldy just wants to play. I guess I should wake up." Goldheart was glad that she could wake her sister up. Usually she would ignore her, or wake up, only to go straight back to bed. Her sister could sometimes be stubborn like that. When she did wake up, Silver always loved to play directly after eating. The twins went down into the kitchen to eat, so then their mother would let them go outside and play. "Mom? Is there anything to eat?" Goldheart asked. No response. No one seemed to be there. "Mom?" Nothing. "Mom?!" Goldheart and Silver Balloon were getting anxious. There was nopony in the kitchen, or anyone in the house. Then again, maybe their mom just went out. Yeah, that must have been it. Now to turn on the light. The light came to life, and what the fillies saw was... nothing. Literally, nothing. They had been robbed! There were red splatters on the floor, and broken glass where the window should be. The fillies feared the worst for their mother. "M-Mom? Are you... gone?" Silver asked, to nopony in particular. The door opened, and their mother walked in. She was shocked at the scene. Missing things, broken glass, and blood in the carpet. She immediately knew what happened. The criminal smashed the window, cut themselves on the glass, stole their stuff, and left the same way. "Girls! Are you okay?" she asked them. "Yeah Mom, we're fine. We thought the robber killed you! Where were you?" Goldheart asked. "I- who's that?" Their mother pointed at the broken window. A dark blue-violet alicorn with blue hair flew in from apparently, the sky. Luna descended from the sky, and, having flown from Ponyville, arrived later in the night that she would have hoped. She noticed the shattered window, and attempted to fly through it. "Ouch!" So close. Goldheart and Silver Balloon were scared, thinking that this pony was the robber. However, their mother knew it couldn't be. She saw the horn and the obvious wings, and she knew it was Luna. Luna was the night princess that her father had told her about. "Luna, is that you? From the stories?" she asked. "You've heard of me? I came to tell you that your little fillies are Elements of Harmony." "What does that mean, Mom?" Silver Balloon asked. Diamond Tiara was stunned. Her fillies, Elements of Harmony? It was an unbelievable honor. She and her friend had never dreamed of such a thing. When three other little fillies had shown her how to be nice, she had thought about it. She never made anything of it, though those three fillies were a group that could have filled the roles of Elements. "It means you get to be able to save the world. Our ruler is a bad pony, and Equestria needs you two to save it from her." "That's awesome! How do we do it, and where do we go?" Goldheart asked Luna. "Just wait for me, there are two other ponies who I have to talk to. After all, there are six Elements, not two," Luna replied. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Mist //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3: Mist Misted Breeze lived far north, in Vahnhoover. Yes, such a place did exist, look on a map. It was cold, and not very populous, but he didn't mind. There was snow everywhere, but Mist's eyes couldn't see it. His eyes were clouded, unusable. He didn't care, for it didn't stop the grounded pony. He didn't have to fly, or use magic. He couldn't. He was a strong pony, and the earth beneath his hooves showed him where to go. He didn't need eyes to see, the ground gave that ability to him. Mist lived in a house on the outskirts of the town, and he didn't interact with other ponies very often. He had been told that he was too blunt, and needed to speak figuratively. He never got why; his parent had always taught him to be honest. Yes, parent, singular, as Mist's mother died during childbirth. Then again, Mist's father also told him that there used to be a second princess, called Luna, who had the most beautiful mane, according to him. She ruled over the night, whatever that was. Mist had not heard of Night Day, since he was blind and didn't interact with other ponies. Luna was tired from flying so far. Vahnhoover was almost as far away as the Crystal North, which had resurfaced recently. The evil King Sombra was stopped by her sister before he could do anything. In fact, the nightmare door that led to the staircase to the Crystal Heart was what caused Celestia to turn into Supernova in the first place. Alas, Luna had arrived at a house on the edge of Vahnhoover. She flew through the window, which was open, for some strange reason. She called out to Mist: "Misted Breeze, it is Luna, princess of the night! I have come to give important news." "Luna? From Father's stories? I always thought he had made it up. What is night?" Mist inquired, sincerely not believing that Princess Luna was here, and really not knowing what a night was. "Yes, I am that Luna. A night is, or at least, was, a dark time of day in which everypony sleeps. I have come to tell you something." Luna said. "Well, out with it." Mist replied. "You are an Element of Harmony." Luna stated. "Sounds important. What's that?" asked Mist, quizzically. "The Elements of Harmony are magical gems that can be used to destroy or reform evil. For example, my sister, the tyrant." Luna said with scorn. "So, let us go," Mist told her. "Not yet. Wait here, there is one more pony I must retrieve," Luna said. "As you wish, Princess." Luna flew off, heading back to Ponyville. She had just realized that she could have started there to begin with, instead of going all over Equestria. That would have been a lot easier for her. Alas, it was too late, and she left, thinking deeply about the recent events, about her sister, and about the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. She wondered if they could stop her sister in time. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: Gathering //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 5: Gathering Later, as the first hints of sun, and therefore the end of Night Day, Luna had finished going around to the other ponies houses, reading the notes, etc. She was a bit surprised when she heard that the fillies' mother, Diamond Tiara, who had also bullied three of her favorite subjects, wanted to go on the quest. She sighed, and returned to Ponyville. When Luna arrived, the first ones to spot her, towards the very last hour or two of night, were the fillies, Goldheart and Silver Balloon. Luna descended, and told all the ponies to come to Midnight Blue's house. She said you couldn't miss it, because it was the only house in Ponyville that wasn't pink and yellow. When all of the ponies got there, she spoke: "All of you. You are destined to save Equestria from my sister, the evil Supernova Star. It will not be easy, but I know you seven can do it. Midnight, you may be reclusive, but your knowledge will serve the group well," Luna said. "Thank you, Princess." "Goldheart, Silver Balloon. You may just be fillies, and fillies who don't have their cutie marks at that, but your good cheer may motivate the group in times of sadness. You two are loyal, and full of laughter, so I know you won't let the group down. Also, due to your size, you will be able to squeeze into small spaces that others cannot," Luna told the fillies. "Thanks!" Goldheart said. "Yeah! I can't wait for this to happen!" Silver Balloon added. "Misted Breeze, though you may be blind and blunt, your strength and connection to the earth will serve us well. You are a bubbling cauldron of earth pony magic, and I know you can help the group when we need force," Luna continued. "Yes, that is true. Thank you." "Morning Streak. You are continually nice, always willing to help out. Out of all the ponies you may be the most kind one I have met in a long time, ever since my sister before she went corrupt, when she was Celestia. However, your kindness and generosity may be a fault, and you must keep true to the task at hand," Luna said. "Thanks, Princess! I'll try my hardest to help the group in any way I can!" "Doctor Healthy Star. Your medical knowledge will be extremely useful, and your caring attitude towards your patients, and everypony else, will be appreciated. Your magic skill and precision will also be useful, since I imagine surgery has hardened your accuracy, will, and guts. However, you may encounter worse things than you have ever found in your hospital, and I need you to be brave," Luna told her. "I-I know, Princess. I'll do what I can." "Finally, Diamond Tiara. You are a businessmare at heart and by trade. Your skills may not be useful, but your persuasive skill and ability as a mother may be able to help. You aren't one of the Elements, but you are still a welcome addition to our team. Are you sure you want to go through with this?" Luna inquired. "Yes, your Highness. I want to do everything I can. I see the light that shines in my and my little fillies, and I know we can all be up to the task." "Very well. Is everypony ready? If so, let's be off," Luna completed. "Hold it right there, sister." Everyone gasped at who it was: Supernova. Her flaming hair (literally) and ultra bright white coat shone in the light. Which was not good. "Everypony RUN!" Midnight shouted. The group ran away, leaving Luna behind to deal with her sister. The group hid in the Everfree Forest, and after a while, the ponies saw a blast of light, and then a scream, and then a strange picture in the moon, raised for the last time for another 364 days. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Midnight //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Midnight It was dark. For the first time in many days, it was dark. After all, today was Night Day. The only day of the year to be nighttime. It was bit of a contradictory name, sure, but it was still a happy day.  Everypony had a day off to sleep in peace. It's very hard to sleep in the day. It was going to be dark for the entire day. This is why it is the unicorn, Midnight Blue's, favorite day. He was the secret and sole student of the Night Princess. His cutie mark was a waning crescent moon with a five pointed star next to it, in the cradle of the moon's curve. He got it on his very first Night Day, when he was just a little foal. If Supernova knew about it, she would have him executed. To prevent slow, painful death by stoning, he wore a cloak to cover his flank. The cloak was the color of a cloudy night sky, which his parents had told him about when he was young. His namesake coat color combined well with his slightly lighter blue and purple mane. Midnight woke up to see Princess Luna descending from the sky, her mane having been devoid of magic for years. The princess of the night had lived in exile for many years, cast out by the corrupt Supernova. Supernova Star was once a kind and benevolent ruler known as Celestia. Now, her flaming mane and bright coat commanded respect from all. As Luna descended, Midnight called his brother, Morning Streak. He was the polar opposite of Midnight, with a sunny yellow coat and carefree attitude. Even stranger, he was a pegasus. He had a kind air about him, with a cutie mark of a fluffy white cloud with the Sun peeking out from behind. Morning Streak didn't like Night Day. He loved the day, but even he knew Supernova was an awful pony. Midnight and Morning saw Luna standing next to the window, which was wider than Midnight thought, apparently. "Midnight and his brother. How nice to see you, for it's been so long," Luna said. "Princess, you know I study for you, after all, I'm still your student," Midnight stated. "Right?" "Yes, however, now is not about your studies. This is about my sister," Luna said, rather bluntly. Midnight gasped. Luna never talked about her sister. This had to have been something very important. "We need to retrieve the Elements. I trust you know what I am talking about?" Luna asked. "Yes, I do remember, from the books you gave me. The Elements of Harmony have the power to dispel evil. Do we have to use them on Supernova?" Midnight asked urgently. "Yes. I have found five ponies to bear the Elements and defeat her. Your brother is one of them," Luna said. "What?!" Midnight and Morning said in unison. "Yes, you and your brother are both representatives of an Element of Harmony. I shall let you figure out which one for yourself," Luna said. Midnight was shocked. He and his brother were completely different, and he could not understand why they were both an Element. Perhaps it was just personality, after all, Morning was compassionate and caring, maybe he represented Kindness. However, Midnight had no idea what Element he might be. He tended to be studious, and not interact with much of anyone besides his brother. "You must go into the Everfree Forest to find the Elements, as soon as I bring the other ponies here. My sister has hidden them there," Luna told Midnight. "The Elements, that is. Not the ponies." Midnight wondered. Who could these ponies be? He didn't know anypony in Ponyville, or anywhere else for that matter, besides Luna and Morning Streak. "One of the ponies live in Ponyville, on lives far north, in Vahnhoover, and two of them live in Baltimare. They are fillies." Luna said. "Fillies?" Midnight asked. "How can two little fillies represent the spirit of an Element?" "I will explain later, Midnight. For now, I must go, and bring the ponies here," Luna said. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3x: Contemplation //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3x: Contemplation Midnight Blue thought about the recent events. Could what Luna said really be true? Did he represent and Element of Harmony? It seemed unbelievable, yet, he doubted Luna would lie about a pressing matter like her sister. He felt that Luna was telling the truth, that he was an embodiment of one of the Elements. Even though he couldn't figure out which Element he was, he knew he would find out eventually. Goldheart and Silver Balloon talked about what they were going to do, and what their mother would do while they were away. The two were scared of the immense responsibility that being an Element foretold, yet they knew they had to go with Luna for the sake of the well being of all Equestria. However, the twins didn't want to leave their mother, and their mother didn't want to see them go. They agreed that maybe Luna would allow Diamond Tiara to journey with them, to keep them safe. After all, the two fillies were usually more interested in play than work. They also agreed that they should write a note telling Princess Luna that they would be on the next train to Ponyville, to gather the Element bearers into one place. Misted Breeze was troubled by the arrival of the Princess. He didn't know if what she said could be true. She was always considered a story, a myth, a legend. The ponies of Vahnhoover always considered the Princess of the Night as something their parents had either made up or seen once, before the takeover of Supernova. Most of all, Mist didn't really care. He was content with life in the far north, and he didn't see why other ponies were okay with life in Equestria too. However, he had a sinking feeling that what Luna said was true, and very important. He felt that the other ponies that Luna spoke of needed him, and he needed them too. He finally decided to get on a train to Ponyville, because he had a feeling that Luna was headed towards Ponyville to get the final Element. He wrote a note, which is hard to do when you're blind and have to write with your mouth, and left. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Doctor //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 4: Doctor Healthy Star was a doctor at the Ponyville Hospital, in Ponyville of course. All the patients loved her, because she was always good to them, and she was the best doctor there. She got a Ph.D in medicine, so she was also a doctor in more ways than one. Her bright red mane and brilliant white coat resembled a lot of the nurses, but she was no nurse. She got payed many bits, but that wasn't why she did it. She did it to help and heal the patients in any way she could. She was on her way home that Night when a dark figure came down from the sky. The figure looked... familiar, like something she had seen, or heard described. The figure was also heading towards her house, so Dr. Star had to sprint to the house to find out who this figure was. Healthy Star had not run for a long time before this, so she made it just as the pony decided to leave. She confronted the pony, before she could leave. "Hey! Who are you?" "Oh, I thought no one was home," the pony said. It turned around, and what Dr. Star saw was amazing. The azure pony was an alicorn, but she had never seen or heard of this one before. She only knew of one alicorn princess: Supernova. "I am Princess Luna. I have come to tell you that you will save the world as an Element of Harmony," Luna said. Now there was something that Dr. Star had heard about. She had come across a book on the Elements of Harmony while searching for medical books, and it looked like an interesting read. When she read it, she was fascinated by the fact that they had such power, and in the form of light magic, too. "Okay, what does that mean for me? Do I have to go on some epic journey through some dangerous place to save the world from our tyrant leader, Supernova Star?" Dr. Star asked, sarcastically. She was still a bit miffed at how Luna had barged into her house like that. "Yes, exactly like that. How did you know?" Luna asked. "Uh..." "Anyway," Luna continued, "you and five others will defeat my sister and save Equestria." "Sounds exciting. When do we start?"
