Love's Weather

A new day was rising in Equestria, also for a rainbow maned pegasus too. Lights of sun filled the room, gently caressing her eyelids. She slowly opened her eyes and let out a small yawn. Then strecthed thoroughly about a minute. It was really relaxing... Dash combed and fixed her mane. Suddenly she caught something behind her ear.

She scratched few times and it twirled to her covers. It was a tiny, ordinary feather. She took it and examined for a while, it had a lighter hue than her own. If it was not hers than how did it arrive here? Well nopony had visited her really other than Soarin... That was it! It made more sense now... It was his feather. Dash felt her cheeks burning by that possibility.

Why did he do that? Was this a sign of his forgiveness and peace? To return their old good days, to start over everything once more... Maybe he was trying to describe it. She threw herself to the pillow. So many possibilities spun in her mind like a hurricane. ‘ Soarin I wish I could know what you're on.’ She sighed deeply. ‘ I hope it ends well- ’

She snapped back to reality by a familiar voice.

"Hi Rainbow! " Twilight greeted her, Rarity and Fluttershy following back.

"Hey Girls! Where have you been? "

"Thank Celestia you're okay! " Fluttershy exclaimed, checking her. "How's your wing? "

"It hurts a little but it'll be fine. " Dash lightly flapped it, but immediately regretted.

Twilight neared her bed to see her progress too. A golden, rectangle object on the table gained her attention. It was a book but not another one. Its title on the cover was saying "Daring Chronicles ", it was the first special edition book in the series! She grinned widely.

" Omg Rainbow! Where did you get this?! " She squealed. Ready to pop in any second.

"TWILIGHT! You know why we're here." Fluttershy frowned "How can you ask about a book when she needs us! "

"But I can't resist, It's a very rare one! "

"Oh then a book's more important than your friend? " Fluttershy flared her wings.

Rarity and Rainbow watched two mares. Their argument was getting worse by every moment. They were acting like fillies in the kindergarten. And it was just for a little book! Rarity couldn't stand like that and went to mediate the fight.

On the other side Dash didn't seem to care about anything at all. Despite she was the subject of it. She had focused on the object in her hooves like it was her whole world. She slightly played and reshaped it. Finally, Rarity calmed Twilight and Fluttershy. She took a deep breath, sat to a near chair. Then she noticed Rainbow's weird recession.

She hadn't spoken a word for minutes. She was the Rainbow Dash for sake, the loudest and chattiest pony after than Pinkie Pie... She wasn't talking with her friends? Now it was really worrying her.

"Darling, is everything alright? " Rarity approached her, saw the feather she was holding. "Is it about the thing in your hoof? "

"Y-yeah it's from Soarin. " Dash replied quietly.

Rarity gasped loudly and levitated it to herself.

"Did he give it to you?! " She wiggled her eyelashes. " Aww how romantic! Just like ancient pegasi. "

"What do you mean? "

"Rarity means, if a pegasus delivers a feather from himself/herself to anypony, it represents a promise of loyalty, sacrifice and love." Twilight joined them. "It's a former tradition. "

Rainbow's jaw dropped, a wave of heat exploded on her cheeks. She quickly looked away. Was he really implying that?!

"You like him don't you? " Rarity nudged her with a big smirk.

"N-no I don't! " Dash tried to protest, however her blush was making it hard.

"Mmmhm... "

A sweet, small smile appeared on her mouth, attached feather on her mane. Eventhough she didn't like to admit, she had something for him and she was going to learn everything. ‘ Wait 'til I out here Soarin, this time everything will be different. ’

Few weeks later Rainbow Dash discharged from the hospital and started to her normal schedule. The team were already practicing a new choreography for the upcoming show. And she got a new chance to prove herself and change everything. She made a zigzag pattern across the sky, then landed. It was nearly lunch time, as understanding it, her stomach growled.

Dash obeyed its call and headed to cafeteria. There wasn't a long line so she easily grabbed her meal. Today's menu wasn't half bad; veggie-cheese omelette, orange juice and salad...

She walked to her usual table and sat opposite the Soarin. He welcomed her with a simple "Hey ", she did the same. An awkward silence covered them. She drew shapeless circles on her omelette and took a sip from the juice. Her heart was beating madly, her body was trembling. Why was she feeling like that? It was going to easy she had to just go and learn it no biggie right? By that she gathered all her courage and broke it.

"Um, Soarin if you have time, can we talk after lunch? "

"O-ofcourse we shall meet at my office. "

Soarin didn't like the sound of her. Had she realized that he's the owner of the feather? Will she reject him? Or the worse Will their friendship end? What if... He shook his head. There was no time for such thoughts, he was going to find out anyway sooner or later...

They made their way to Soarin's office. It wasn't so far to the cafeteria, on right side of Spitfire's. As a food lover stallion like him it was a blessing, that was reason he loves it. They flew two more floors and digressed to a large corridor. There was a door with title " Captain Soarin Skies" he stopped there.

He opened the door, waited her to enter. Inside was quite plain for a wonderbolt's captain. There was a portrait of himself on the wall, across it a huge cabinet was standing with many awards and medals in it. Which was impressive to Dash... But she wasn't here to admire any of this.

"Soarin... the following day from your visit, I found a feather beside me. D-does it belongs to you? "

He gulped slightly, a bucket of cold sweat ran his entire body. Did she really find out his true feelings? Why was it hard to answer? Why couldn't he just pour his heart to that mare? He pushed all those questions away and revealed the truth for her.

"Y-yes it belongs to me. "

Rainbow giggled loudly, jumped to his arms and held him as tight as she could. Soarin froze by her move. He wasn't expecting it instead he waited her to hit him or something. However, she was embracing him. Was this a dream? If it was he was going to pray Luna to not end it...

"You goof! Why haven't you explained it before? " She stammered.

"I have tried but somepony ran away. Remember? "

She rolled her eyes and rested her head on his chest. "I-I guess I feel same way..." Dash whispered enough to hear him. He lifted her chin, his emerald pools met with her rosy ones. So many new emotions were glowing in them. But only one emotion was visible. Love...

His warm breath washed her face, then wrapped his hooves around her. He leaned in, his lips lightly brushed against the cyan mare. He pecked it again and again, soon he deepened their kiss. It was amazing... the silky touch of the lips... It was better than any experience he tasted. Even more than apple pies, fan squeals and late night outs...

They remained like that few more seconds but when they parted away it was like ages... They stared at each other with wide smiles. Soarin gently caressed her cheek. A new season was starting in their lives now.

And it was something magnificent and precious, it was Love's Weather...
