//-------------------------------------------------------// The Assignment. -by Faint Abril Darkness- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Into. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Into. Just to say, the first 2 chapters will have small hints at ponies, but not them in Equestria yet. That won't happen until [Spoiler!] at the end of the next chapter. This very much so helps the plot, and I hope it doesn't fail moderation because of this. Thanks! And Enjoy this crossover! "As some of you may know, Project Freelancer is very successful. This is not good enough though. We need people who are faster, stronger, and smarter than they are. We need, the Freelancers Mark Two. Their armor will be better, the AI's smarter, their equipment stronger, and they will be able to handle any situation. This process has already begun, but we need to get the MJOLNIR armor Mark 7 ready. I also need a team working on their armor abilities. Get started gentlemen. We only have ten years until they are ready..." The Director sat back down in his chair as the staff of The Mother of Invention left his office. They had been working on the subject so far, not anything else. As he sat there, the Freelancers MKII were being trained. They had only found two suitable candidates. These two children were being trained in everything there was to know about war, guns, technology, and more. So far, at them both being the age of ten, they had been training for 4 years. It was time to bring a new light into this universe of darkness. ================================================== Ten Years Later, Mother of Invention. ================================================== "Take a seat Agents." The Director pointed to two empty seats. The Freelancers MKII sat, and kept their attention on The Director. "What I am about to tell you is information that only belongs in your heads. This information is NOT to be told to a soul outside this room at this very moment. Do you understand?" "Yes sir." "Crystal Clear." The Director turned around, to face the two new agents. They both were tall Caucasian males, Faint with jet black hair and red eyes, Shadow with brown hair and eyes. They averaged 6' 0''. They were twin brothers, one born seconds before the other. Even so, they were almost completely different. Agent Faint did not speak much. Only when in the most dire of situations, or when spoken to. Agent Shadow spoke more, but not out of term.  Faint was more of the scary one, seeing as how he is all-rounded, from sniping to using an energy sword. Shadow was not as strong, or fast, as Faint but Shadow was better with technology. He was more of a medium ranged person, using Battle Rifles and Assault Rifles. The Director was amazed by how much they had changed since he first saw them. "Good. Now, I have found out that a Freelancer is seeking to kill me." a picture of Carolina popped up onto the hologram he was projecting to them. "I do not like this idea, and I want you two to stop it. This will be your first field-assignment. Think of it as a test, to make sure you can handle what you are supposed to do. Head to the equipment bay. They will get you what you need, and prep you on any other details while doing so. Also, your code name, as long as you are on the same mission together, shall be 'The Faint Shadow'. Dismissed." He saluted to them, and they did so back. They left the room quietly, not saying anything. The Director took this chance to sit down, and watch Agent Texas one of her missions. ======================================== Equipment Bay, five minutes later. ======================================== When Faint and Shadow entered the bay, the tech guys immediately got started. "You two need to stand over there please. We need to get your armor on, and get you battle ready." The Freelancers did what they were told, and stood in two red squares. Next to these squares, hung from the ceiling, were two metal arms with grooves in the center of them. The scientists put the armor on, piece by piece. It took longer than usual, because this was the Mark 7 MJOLNIR armor, which included more things. When they were finished, as a bonus, the scientists had a person draw a detailed image of Luna's cutie mark on Faint, and Fluttershy's on Shadow. Both on there shoulders. Yes. These two, these TWO MEN, are Bronies, and everybody knows. It does not change their respect or fear for them, seeing as how one person accidentally made a "rude" comment on it, and he..Is now in the infirmary. With a broken arm, a broken leg, some teeth are missing, and his balls were crushed. They are like that. So, armed with their new completely black mark VII armor, they listened to what the techies had to say next. "We are now going to run diagnostics. Please, before we begin, choose your visor color. If you look at the 'Armory' button at the bottom left, the screen will pop up where you can change your visor color. That is all it does, for now." Faint selected Black, Shadow went with Gold. "Good. Now, I need you both to look at the red lights ahead of you. When you target them, they will turn blue." They did so. "Alright. Targeting shows all clear. Now, for your Advanced Shields System." Shadow couldn't help but snicker at what the abbreviation would be, but when he got a glare from one of the Techies, he stopped. All they had to do was stand still as the metal arms started to spin around them. A bar appeared at the top middle of their HUD, and began to fill. When it was full, a beam of energy hit them, taking their shields all the way down. They then recharged. "Advanced Shield Systems working. Lastly, we must test the Advanced Armor Abilities System. Please use the Armor Lock function." When the Spartans did, a light blue aura surrounded them, and their shield bar filled again, but instead of light blue it became white. "Very good. Now Faint, use your invisibility." Faint did, and Armor lock left. Instead, he became completely invisible. "Most of your armor abilities do not last forever. Only your sprint does not run out, until you stop running. Shadow, please activate your hacking ability, and hack the computer next to you." Shadow nodded as Faint became visible, and hacked it. He brought his wrist up closer to his helmet, and started tapping buttons. He only knew the basics of hacking, and this device was linked to his brain, which means that it helped him know all the codes for the security system, and in ten seconds flat he was done. Under his helmet, he grinned. This could be quite useful, he thought. "Now that those are working, we must insert your AIs. Stand still." The scientists stood behind them, and inserted the AI chips. "Agent Faint. Your AI's name is 'Rose'. Shadow, your AI's name is Zenon." When he finished, a  cool, calm, and female voice spoke. "Hello, Agent Faint. I am the AI Rose. I am inclined to help you and Shadow on your missions." "As am I," Stated another voice. This one was more rough, like a male's. "My name is Zenon. I am an Artificial Intelligence here to support you both." "Okay," The scientist rudely interrupted, "Now that you are all acquainted, it is time for you two to leave. You mission starts in five minutes. Go to the drop bay. From there you will be dropped with your pods, equipped to how you stated. Good luck agents." He saluted, as did everybody else. The agents were at the bay in four minutes, and were prepped in thirty seconds. This was it. Their first mission.
