Mike Smith's Point of view

Three weeks later

I was writing Dashie a letter, and that letter contained a poem. Then, I heard a lot of gunshots. The alarm went off, and I stuffed the letter into my vest pocket and grabbed my M16A4. As soon as I walked out of my tent, I saw I was the last one on my team. I was surrounded by like fifty guys, all insurgents.

"Drop your weapon!" Screamed one of them, raising a RPK at me. I dropped my M16A4, my M9, and my Bayonet. I dropped to my knees and put my hands on the back of my head. Next thing I knew, there was a gun leveled with my head, then lights out.

Rainbow Dash's Point of view.

The next day

I was watching TV one night, while Blue Angle was asleep. There was a sudden knock on the door, So I went to answer it.

"Ma'am, one of the FOBs was attacked. There were no survivors. Not even the Specialist." Said one of the soldiers in a dress uniform.

"Do you know any names?" I said, not really picking up when he said 'Specialist'.

"Many ponies died, so I'll just tell you the name of the highest ranking one we found. 'Specialist Mike Smith'. I find that a odd-" I droned out the rest. He can't really be dead. He's lying! But what if he's not? He has to be!

"Surely you can't be telling the truth. Mikey Can't really be dead, right?" I interrupted him.

"No, Ma'am. He had a letter for you in his vest pocket." He said, handing me a blood-stained letter. I read it.

Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

Sugar is sweet,

And so are you.

I love you, Dashie.

Love, Mikey

I began to cry.

"No... No... Mikey... Why?"

"Ma'am, are you ok."

"Mikey was my Sniff husband." I began a full out sob.

"Sorry to hear that, Ma'am. We'll leave you alone now." Then they left, and I closed the door and called up my friends.

"I am so, so sorry Rainbow." Said Twilight, who barely knew him. "We all are." They were all told to meet at my house. I was still sobbing.

"I can't believe he's gone..." I croaked out. I knew I would never see him until his funeral, and after that, the closest thing I could see was his tombstone.

"Girls, we should stay here for the night. The cloud-walking spell will last twenty three more hours. We'll be safe"

"Thanks, Twilight. You are a good friend. All of you are." I led them to the guest bedrooms, and after that I went to bed and cried myself to sleep.
