Entry One: Doctor Who?

As I write this, I am sitting within a device I thought impossible. A time machine… and it’s bigger on the inside! Temporal and Spatial manipulation such as this is AMAZING!!! I can’t even begin to GUESS how I would accomplish all of this with magic, and this man, this Doctor, he claims that it’s all technology. If it wasn’t for the fact that there isn’t a single shred of magic anywhere that I can sense, I wouldn’t have believed him.
He calls it the TARDiS, short for Time And Relative Dimensions in Space. The Doctor and the TARDiS… saying that sends shivers down my spine, and they’re not particularly pleasant.
I suppose I should describe the Doctor, since he’s not even a Pony! Yeah, you read that right. For hundreds of years Ponies have gazed at the stars and asked a single question. Are we alone in the universe? Well, I just met an alien, and the things he showed me blew my mind.
He’s… eccentric, to put it lightly. I wonder if he’s even really sane, but sometimes I catch a glimmer of… something in those blue eyes. Whatever it is, it makes me so sad every time I see it. I wish I knew why. He’s a bipedal being, similar in build to Minotaurs, but his legs only have one joint between the hips and ankles. He also lacks a coat of fur, and instead has only hair on his head. And his chin… Sweet Celestia, that is the most angular chin I have ever seen, and I’ve met Bulk Biceps.
He showed up last night as a meteor that I later learned was the TARDiS crash landing. He hasn’t explained yet what caused the TARDiS to crash outside my home, but it was bad. Smoke and flames were billowing from the opening of the blue box as I approached…
He crawled out grinning and laughing. Strangely, he wasn’t hurt at all, despite the obvious cuts and gashes on his outfit. He was also occasionally exhaling a strange golden mist. I asked him if he was okay as he rested against the outer wall of the Golden Oaks Library, and this was his response.
“Don’t know. I’m still cooking”
To make a long story short, I spent the better part of the night cooking for him. Every time he ordered something, he’d spit it out in disgust, until finally I ended up making fish-sticks and custard. Yuck! But he seemed to like it, so meh. Though… I wonder why there were fish sticks in the freezer? I don’t eat meat. I mean, I can, I had to learn how to stomach it for when there was meat being served during diplomatic visits in Canterlot, but I never grew a taste for it.
As he ate, I asked him about himself. I had never met a being like him after all. Apparently, he’s never met a Pony before either, at least not a sentient pony, as he had just as many questions for me. Well into the morning we talked. He told me of things I've never imagined before. Adventures that were fit to be novelized. Heroics that could inspire the meekest of us. I heard tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Robin Hood. Queen Elizabeth the First. heard of the Humans of Earth, and their immense potential for both good and evil. Throughout all of it, he was almost like a child. Happy, giddy, jumping around a lot.
I asked him about the state I found him in, but he has proven very crafty about dodging the subject, only saying that he had been through gentler life changing experiences. It wasn’t until a key in his pocket began glowing and-presumably-burning that he grew even more excited and rushed back outside.
To my astonishment the TARDiS, which had been laying on its side, was now upright and pristine. He walked in talking about calibrations and test runs. He shut the door right after promising he’d be back in five minutes.
That was five years ago, and I haven’t seen him since. Celestia has since sent me to four different psychiatrists in order to make me realize how foolish I was being. There was no such thing as Time Lords, TARDiS’, or a man who called himself the Doctor.
Now I’m a Princess, Ponyville looks to me as its ultimate authority no matter how much I try to encourage them to see Mayor Mare for their problems, and I’ve personally dealt with no less than five catastrophes that have befallen Equestria with the Elements of Harmony.
And then he was there… running through the streets of Ponyville searching for me in a blind panic. Apparently, he saw the destruction that was my library and assumed the worst. I… I may have zapped him pretty hard when I finally realized he was the same Doctor I thought was my imagination. I was not happy at him for making me feel like I had finally snapped.
Of course, that was when I got a brutal introduction into the life of the Doctor when we discovered Weeping Angels, an ancient enemy of the Doctor’s, terrorizing the town. We discovered a crack in the wall of my castle that was in actuality a crack in the fabric of reality itself, and the energy it leaked was like a gourmet buffet to the Weeping Angels. He closed the crack by tricking the Angels into rushing into it. I still don’t understand the hows or whys of the situation, but it worked and I’m not questioning that.
When it was all said in done, he handed me a key and asked me to travel with him. To see the universe… to see both the future and the past. I didn’t so much jump on the chance as I took a flying leap into it.
And here I am, in the TARDiS writing in my journal about my introduction to the Doctor. I only hope this isn’t me having another psychotic break. The Want It-Need It incident was bad enough. For the life of me I still can’t figure out what possessed me to use that spell in the first place.
