The world of Equestria has gone through many changes over the last two decades. Those who were once ponies now have these new primate-like forms. Their technology seems to take an odd turn as a fascist government controlled by one named Deus has occupied Ponyville, possibly for the better. With the invention of guns came the extinction of heroes. The world is becoming a darker and more violent place, possibly due to the nature of the creatures whose forms the Equestrians now have.

This story would make a lot more sense if you read The Last Heroes of Equestria. Just an FYI.
